Black soul was the first place I tried in Guadalajara and I knew I was definitely going to come back, the berries tasted very fresh. The staff was very kind and helpful. The entire decor was phenomenal and very clean.

In my opinion Black Soul is a must when visiting this Guadalajara area. This is black themed coffee shop with small eats. I was not sure what to expect. But I got a black latte with almond milk and chilaquiles red + green. While we were sitting there I was looking at everyone's smoothies, breakfasts and coffee options being brought out. Everything was very on theme and fun to look at. I saw black smoothies, black waffles and black pancakes left and right. About 10 minutes or so our food was dropped off. The chilaquiles were made with black tortillas and was so fun to see the red and green sauce on top. I took one bite and was in love with how great it tasted, I pretty much inhaled the chilaquiles so safe to say, I was a big fan.

"Some concepts are meant to be in one place," said my wife after having breakfast at Black Soul. In theory, it's an interesting concept- everything is black from the space to the napkins to much of the food and drink. It turns out that charcoal is used in many dishes to make it black and you can only eat so much charcoal before you feel ill. That's how I felt when my black latte came out. At first sip, I dispised it, but soon the taste grew on me. By last sip, I'm forever done. The food also wears on you. The cinnamon roll pancakes come out with frosting on top. Between that and the crunchy charcoal inside the pancakes, I was forever done after eating half. Fun concept, but the execution wasn't the best. However, that's just my opinion. It was full when we went so clearly people like it.

A fun theme. Good prices. A few years ago, charcoal became all the rage in the wellness community. I was adding charcoal to all of my desserts. They had charcoal lattes, charcoal açai bowls, as people promoted and detoxing powers. Surprising I'm just now seeing a full restaurant dedicated. I ordered the tomato toast which I think came with halloumi cheese. Good filling breakfast actually. Beet juice was smaller than I expected but overall a good brunch option. I would probably try the charcoal pancakes instead.

Great service and a nice menu. Well executed. Found on a small side street. Menu has some light fare and a few coffee items.

We ventured here on the last full day of a week in Guadalajara. The location is on a shady, quiet side street in the Americana area. The vibe is very chill. Coffee is served with a small cookie. We customized our eggs Benedict to have it on Panela instead of bread. Poached eggs were just right, solid whites and runny yolk. Sweet staff. Sexy plating. Dulce personal.

Food Review: Los Chilaquiles - Guadalajara, Jalisco…read more On my recent visit to Los Chilaquiles, located right in the heart of Guadalajara, I arrived a bit past the traditional breakfast hour, but I was seriously craving some good huevos rancheros and a comforting café de olla. Thankfully, both absolutely hit the spot. Café de olla is a classic Mexican coffee traditionally brewed in a clay pot (olla), infused with cinnamon and sweetened with piloncillo--a deep, rich unrefined cane sugar. The result is a warm, aromatic, slightly spiced cup that feels like a hug from Mexico itself. Their version was delicious. To complement it, they offered me conchas con nata, which was such a treat. Conchas are iconic Mexican sweet breads known for their soft, airy interior and crunchy shell-like topping. Nata is the thick, silky cream that forms when fresh milk is gently simmered--rich, smooth, and perfect for spreading. Together, it's a simple but heavenly pairing. Right away, I noticed that the atmosphere of the place feels warm and inviting--relaxed, friendly, and full of that authentic Guadalajara charm that makes you want to stay a little longer. The service matched the atmosphere perfectly: attentive, kind, and genuinely welcoming. They started me off with a trio of homemade salsas, along with Mexican crema, queso cotija, and a crunchy homemade tostadita. Everything tasted fresh and thoughtful. As I looked around, I even noticed photos of well-known personalities who have visited, which makes sense--the food and experience truly stand out. Overall, Los Chilaquiles delivered amazing flavors, excellent service, a great atmosphere, and that authentic touch that makes breakfast in Guadalajara unforgettable. Highly recommend stopping by if you're in the area.

It has always delivered a great experience, but unfortunately, today was a disappointment. Our group of four ordered the following: * Panela asada: Excellent. * Empanadas: Excellent. * Churrasco: Very disappointing. The quality of the meat was poor, with too many nerves that made it hard to cut and chew. * Chinchulines: Excellent. * Milanesa: A letdown. The steak was paper-thin, overly dry (reminiscent of beef jerky), and the underside was burnt, making it even harder to cut. We had to request a steak knife to get through it. * Chicken: Excellent. * Desserts: Excellent. The total bill came to $2,900 MXN (about $145 USD) plus tip. By Mexican standards, this is considered a high-end meal, but the quality of certain dishes did not live up to the price. While the restaurant has been a favorite of mine in the past, based on this recent experience, I cannot recommend it.
