We really enjoyed our stay last weekend! Simon and Miranda were so friendly and super hospitable, plus, they make and serve an incredible breakfast! The house is super historic and on the Register of Historic Landmarks as well. Everything is beautiful both inside and out. Our room didn't have a TV or fridge, but there is a TV and small fridge in the common area on the second floor. There are plenty of books, games, and puzzles. We enjoyed the beautiful weather by spending a lot of time outside. There is plenty of seating both out back and out front. We really can't say enough great things about our stay, and hope to come back again one day.

My spouse at the entrance, the obligatory black sheep, and the welcome sign for us.

Had a fabulous time staying at the Black Sheep Inn a few nights ago. The owners Miranda and Simon are very helpful and fun to talk to. The bed was comfortable and I definitely caught up on sleep there. Not much to do nearby without a car there, but the back yard with patio and gazebo and a lovely natural backdrop make up for that. I love their attention to healthful products, chocolate and plant based diet. I would love to bring my spouse there again.

We spent the weekend here for our anniversary. It was quiet and nice. Simon and Miranda were incredible hosts. Breakfast was delicious. I highly recommend the 4 hour wine concierge service. We hope to get back in the near future.

The Wood Room- so inviting !

What a beautiful place - elegant clean and all the little "extras" that Miranda and Simon provide you . We are here to celebrate my mothers 80th birthday and Miranda baked this scrumptious vegan chocolate cake. If you are looking for a relaxed luxurious environment for a little get away this is the place to stop!

Beautiful bathroom! Love the ladder for the towels...

We recently stayed here for our anniversary. We had a fantastic time! Breakfast was yummy and the owners are SO sweet and helpful. They helped us pick out some fantastic wineries to visit and made our stay incredible. Our room was gorgeous and so comfortable. They set up an outside fire for us as well. The breakfast was super healthy and yummy. Overall, a fantastic experience and we can't wait to come back!!!

The Black Sheep Inn was delightful. The architecture is intriguing and the house has phenomenal common space to explore. We enjoyed the comfort of our room and our bathroom. The breakfasts were a unique artisan blend of recipes. There is also an old Wulitzer piano in the main parlor. The piano is out of tune, but it still loved to be played. We are big fans of being outside. There are spaces to be outside with good quality tables and chairs. However there are very few flowers and the yard could use some manicuring to match the grandeur of the house.

The rooms are spacious and beautifully decorated, extremely clean and well appointed with everything you could possibly need. The breakfasts were incredible, the "Dutch Baby" pancakes with homemade peach compote were out of this world. But then the tomato pie with poached egg and Prosciutto was pretty incredible as well. So be assured whatever they come up with for breakfast you will be extremely happy. Every morning it was fun to get to the dining room to see how beautifully Tami had set the table. Every day was a different display of beautiful flatware and dishes etc. The Inn is also a short walk from the lake, and marina. It was great to walk down and watch people launch and recover their boats, you can also rent boats and other water sport items there as well. Dining was within walking distance or short drives. Not to mention all the wonderful wineries located nearby. This is wine country after all, I didn't realize how far NY wines had come. Lots to see and do and when the day is over come back to the Inn with one of those bottles of wine , grab a glass from the selection in the hallway outside the small common area upstairs, (where early morning coffee is available), then take yourself off to the porch and enjoy the evening . One of the friendliest towns I have been in awhile, only superseded by the friendliness and graciousness of your hosts.

We liked the rooms and they were nice and clean. We had hot breakfast of french toast and fresh fruit. The second visit was this year with my in-laws as well as our adult son. Catherine is the owner and she is very sweet and will help you with whatever you need. We were there over a very busy weekend so they had a buffet for breakfast. It was fine for me and my husband but my in-laws were expecting a quiche or French toast casserole maybe. We had a wonderful time. We also organized through Catherine a wine tour where we were all driven around to 6 or 7 wineries/breweries for tastings and stopped at one for lunch too. We enjoyed it very much. We would definitely go back. We walked into Hammondsport for dinner at Timberwoods( i think that's the name)and it was great. Great steaks as well as other options and service. There is a small but cute downtown area with a few restaurants within close walking distance of the Inn.

We had a Groupon for 2 nights but that expired (the cash value was $219). And Catherine was charging us an additional $196 (the difference in current charges and the Groupon value) this was all okay. But when they offered us rooms at the Best Western they maintained the same charges!!! The most expensive room at the BW is $130 a night or $260 for the weekend. These bait and switch disreputable people were basically charging us $415 for 2 nights At a Best Western!!! I would NEVER use them or recommend Catherine as a place to do any business with ever!!

I would sleep on the floor for Jeanette's breakfasts. And plan to order their homemade pizza and salad one night. It could be the best dinner of your trip. The house faces a gorgeous view of Lake Kueka, the Luna suite was spacious and comfortable, the bed was great, and each room has an en-suite bathroom. The whole house was spotless. We also took advantage of Steven's wine tour, letting him choose the destinations (excellent and varied) and drive so we could enjoy the tastings. He delivered a beautiful charcuterie board at our third stop. After a hard day of vineyard visits, we played pool, darts, and cornhole in Moonshadow's well stocked game room. Away from our temporary home, we visited the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, hiked to several waterfalls around Ithaca (Buttermilk Falls was our favorite), and enjoyed the Corning Museum of Glass. On Jeanette and Steven's recommendation, we stopped by the Muranda dairy farm in Waterloo for a cheese tasting. It was fabulous! Watkins Glen State Park is less than an hour away and you could even add a day trip to Niagara Falls. Whatever you do during the days, plan to start and end them at Moonshadow!

Whether we had eggs, bagels and lox, pancakes, or muffins, everything was well prepared and expertly presented. If wineries is your thing, Steven will chauffeur you around to some really nice ones, and throw in a brewery to boot. In the evenings, Jeanette and Steven are engaging to talk to and fun to be with. It's out in the country, very quiet, in a BEAUTIFUL setting....yet it's just a few minutes from Corning. My GPS did me wrong. Al was up waiting for me both times, and greeted me cheerfully, despite the late hour. THANK YOU, AL! (He even gave me a beer, which I sorely needed by then.) The rooms are glorious, with great beds and bedding, and incredibly comfortable, with private bathrooms. I'm hoping to visit Corning again this year, and will definitely stay with Al and Cathy if I can! (Cathy even had fruit infused water available in the public fridge.
