Went thrifting this afternoon and my first stop was Black and Brown. I'd never been there before…read moreand wasn't sure what to expect. Wow, what an amazing store. They mainly sell vintage and modern secondhand clothes, bags, and shoes for women and men, but they also have new pottery from a designer called Familiar. The store is spacious and carefully curated. There is no thrift shop smell and it looks more like a cute boutique than a secondhand store. You can sell your clothes there, too. There are two floors of women's clothes and a separate men's shop across a little courtyard in the back. Most of the customers when I was there were young adults of both sexes. The store was busy on a Saturday in the late afternoon. Fortunately, they have a dedicated parking lot behind the shop with plenty of spaces. The staff welcomed me immediately when I walked in. I was interested in looking at purses and they had quite a few vintage and newer ones from designers like Coach, Tory Burch, Kate Spade, and Dooney & Bourke. I didn't buy any, but enjoyed checking out what they had to offer. I didn't pay too much attention to the clothes, except to notice that women's pant sizes on the second floor only seemed to go up to size 11/12. If they had bigger sizes, I didn't see them. Overall, I was impressed with Black and Brown and would like to go back.

It took some time to find items that interested me as I looked through the entire store (two floors for women and one for men). Some items were over priced but you can find some good gems here. Overall, I would recommend!

It's very cute and very clean, and doesn't seem like a thrift shop at all. The young woman working there was friendly and helpful. I saw lots of little things I wanted to buy, like the tiniest Labubu I've ever seen, but didn't end up purchasing anything. Most of the clothes and accessories for females seemed targeted toward young people, but I'm glad I stopped in and checked out all of their cute loot. Be sure to bring change for the metered parking or plan to use your credit card.

I bought a fleece skirt and wannabe suede tube top. Both pieces were $20-$22, but such a great deal! I lived that Baby Phat jacket too, but it was too small for me! Damnit! There's also a men's area towards the back of the store also, so make sure to check that area too! There were two employees working, when k went in on that weekday, make sure you bring coins or just pay via credit card to park, since all of Jtown charges for parking. I will definitely be back! $50 for an outfit I love! I can't wait to go home, wash it and wear it! They employee said if you post a pic of you in their outfit, to tag them on IG to be entered into some drawing for monthly coupon or something- I forget, but I'll be posting soon enough!!!

Donations When I did my last drop-off about a week ago, the gentleman running the donation area rushed over to help me with my bags and then gave me a receipt that was already filled out with the date/signature. The entire process took about 30 seconds - easiest donation drop-off ever. Shopping I've found so much great stuff here in almost every department (clothes, furniture, home decor, etc.). It's also more reasonably priced than other thrift stores in the area, and more organized as well. Customer Service The donation drop-off guys are really friendly and efficient - they go out of their way to make it an easy process. The store employees are equally amazing. Every time I go up to the register with a big pile of stuff, I'm apologetic and flustered about how much ringing up they have to do - but they're ALWAYS super nice and helpful. They literally never have a bad attitude or get annoyed, even when I take a bit of time to pack up my items or change my mind last-minute. I also appreciate the fact that they go out of their way to help me organize my stuff so I can get to my car easily - I'm a small person with some big purchases haha, so I really appreciate that extra effort they put in to make my life easier. Truly 10/10 customer service all-around!

The store seemed to be nicely organized but could use a good sweeping. I saw a hanging item that reached the floor covered in dust bunnies at the bottom. I was surprised by the number of designer bags they have in the locked glass case. The designers include Gucci, Chanel, Loewe, Coach, Fendi, and many more. While most were pricey, they looked like they were in excellent condition and some were reasonably priced. Not sure how thorough their authentication process is and how often fakes slip through. There were lots more lower end bags hanging openly on the walls, but they weren't quite as nice. I'll most likely stop in once in a while to see what they have to offer.

The staff is really friendly and attentive. We're regularly greeted with a smile. There's literally always a dressing room available and an attendant to let you in. The selection is bar none -- which is important to keep in mind as you read reviews from people who felt poorly about their buy back experiences. Everything is well-curated, and their being discerning helps the buyer. As a seller, I've been happy with what they've chosen to purchase and consider any buy-back pure bonus. They are providing a service to both the seller as well as the buyer. Side note...a bunch of our family's Christmas gifts to each other came from here, which was helpful on the wallet as the value is bar-none. We're constantly complimented by friends and strangers on items that were purchased from here. Highly recommend!

But doing so, of course, would be inappropriate, disruptive, and disrespectful to both the staff and the purpose of the machine. Attempting it would likely result in immediate ejection from the store, embarrassment on behalf of my wife, and damage to my reputation. If I want to do something like that, it has to come from a place of trust and responsibility. So I've decided on a different approach. I'll apply for a job there. I'll start at the bottom, maybe as a sales associate. I'll show up on time. I'll learn the product lines inside and out. I'll help customers. I'll take extra shifts. I'll support the team. When we have team potlucks I won't just sign up for paper plates and napkins like I usually do. Over time, I'll build trust with my coworkers and supervisors. I'll demonstrate reliability, consistency, and good judgment. When opportunities for promotion arise, I'll take them seriously. I'll accept constructive feedback, complete training, and become someone people rely on. Eventually, I'll earn a leadership position--assistant manager, then store manager. Managers stay late for many reasons: end-of-day reports, scheduling, stockroom organization, vendor calls, or something mundane like doing a full count of shoelaces to reconcile inventory discrepancies. One night, when the store is closed and no one else is there, I'll complete my duties. And then finally I can put my butt in it. But, for now, it's just feet. Ri helped me, with her patience, friendliness, and knowledge earning the store five stars. The scanner said I was a size 12 even though I am a size 13. It undersizes. For this reason I decided not to stick anything else in the scanner.
