My friend's car was towed while we were out hiking. I had left my wallet and keys in her car because we drove together. When we called the towing company, they said we couldn't pick up the car that day because it's registered in my friend's mom's name, but I simply needed to retrieve my personal belongings (my wallet and keys). They told us I would have to pay $200 just to get my personal items out of the vehicle. Then they said they could only speak to the registered driver. My friend's mom called and confirmed everything, but even after that they wouldn't let me get my wallet and keys. Because of this, four young girls were three hours away from home trying to figure out a way back home and I had no driver's license or house and car keys to get back. We were told we would have to wait until Tuesday to get our belongings because my friend mom was out of town and wouldn't be back until Tuesday. The lack of basic understanding and customer service in this situation was extremely frustrating and put us in a very difficult and unsafe position. read more

These guys are horrible. First off they tried towing my vehicle during a softball tournament this weekend. Attempted to run me over when standing between their truck and my car. Instead of speaking with me their driver decided to step on it and and attempt to run me over. I was forced to jump on my rear bumper as he floored it then attempted to slam his brakes and have me squished between his truck and my car. These people do not need to in business. I understand that if I parked in the wrong area I am wrong but you don't try to kill people if he woulda stopped and spoke to me wich is all I wanted none of this would have happened.all I needed was the Information on where to pick it up later or the fees etc.... read more

Scam company with horrible employees! They deserve zero stars! Rude and liars! My 22-year-old daughter and three friends were hiking near N. Ojai Road by a trailhead, over 3 hours from where we live, when the car they drove was towed. The friend who was driving was using a car that is registered in her mother's name, and the owner is currently out of state until Tuesday (today is Saturday). When my daughter called the tow yard, she simply asked to retrieve her wallet and keys from the car. She was initially told she would have to pay $200 just to get her personal belongings out of the vehicle. When I called the company to clarify, I was told it was "California law" that prohibited them from releasing anything to anyone except the registered owner and that we should "be mad at the state, not them." I explained that the owner is out of state and that the girls only needed access to their personal belongings, not the vehicle itself. For reference, California Vehicle Code §22651.07 states that towing companies must allow the vehicle owner or the owner's authorized agent to retrieve personal property from the vehicle during normal business hours without charge. Charging $200 for access to retrieve personal items like a wallet and keys is not consistent with that law. When I asked why my daughter had originally been told she would need to pay $200, the person on the phone became irritated and said he could not talk to anyone except the owner of the vehicle, stating he was "getting calls from different people and was over it." Meanwhile, this situation involved four young women stranded near a hiking trail three hours from home, simply trying to retrieve basic personal items so they could safely leave the area. The interaction was unnecessarily rude and dismissive. All we asked for was access to a wallet and keys. The lack of professionalism and the refusal to help in a reasonable way made an already stressful situation far worse. read more

My brother's car was STOLEN, they still are attempting to get us to pay $500 dollars to get it out. He's paralyzed and it's the only car that fits his wheel chair. I asked to speak to management "Junior" refused said the owners on vacation. As for doing business with them, I would use another company who doesn't take advantage of disabled people. $500 is about half of a social security check, I let them know that we could pay the cost of towing fees that it actually costs them, junior refused. I got to my car a minute after they towed it. I called immediately and said I have to make an appointment to get it back despite them being "open 24 hours". They charged me $415. In the morning I inspected my vehicle and I noticed they damaged my rims. I called to notify them about this to see what they can do for me and before I provided them with details they instantly knew what damage I was referring to and continued to describe the damage to me in perfect detail, claiming that the damage was pre-existing. They then claimed they took pictures before towing the vehicle to prove they were not at fault so I asked them to send me the pictures and they said they can't. They also charged me for storage fees even though they didn't store my vehicle. I got to their location before they did. This is a predatory business practice. read more

Never calling black on black towing ever again. I used them before and had an ok experience. Was a little over priced but it was worth getting home. ($100 for less than 10 miles.) That being said we were going to use them again if needed. Last night I was about 10 miles away again and blew a tire. Was on the side of the road for 3 hours. After getting no where with my road side assistance I decided to call b on b the guy who answered said he could do it for $225 for give or take 10 miles. That's not how you treat repeat customers. Needless to say I called Tom's Towing. The worst part about this company is that they only tow when they can make extra money. I've never seen this company tow at my complex except when it's after hours or weekends when they can charge a $115 gate fee ("after hours") are not even listed on their sign for chargers either. Also the guy told me that "if you had your hazards on I would've given you 10 minutes instead of 2 before towing you." He also sits and waits to watch for people to run up to their apartment before towing after hours (I watched him do this today). Guess he needs the money even though he can afford two French Bulldogs and has to charge you a gate fee because he's too lazy to push the open gate button (hence the overpriced gate fee). Also, they caused damaged to my vehicle, as they have NO regard for safe towing practices. ALSO they fail to mention they charge an EXTRA $115 for a gate fee if you are attempting to recover your vehicle before their "posted" business hours. Which can only be seen on a sign they have in person at their location, despite their online business hours reflecting they are "open" 24 hours a day. This extra gate fee is not even mentioned on their tow rate sheet nor did they explain what the fee was for. Hire better drivers. Pulling onto Soledad in Santa Clarita while raining into 3 lanes of traffic almost causing a giant accident. Terrible. Do better towing company. Maybe give your drivers a weekly driving test for all those fancy trucks. We were going west bound thru a green light and out of nowhere here comes a giant tow truck pulling out who had a red light. Literally stopping in the intersection, having 4 cars and myself lock up our tires to not slam into the tow truck. Unacceptable. This is how upset I was. Appalled:8/06/2023 On August 5th 0f 2023 I had parked my car at the Trader Joes parking lot @ 323 Carmen Drive Camarillo. This is a private property location that allows public parking at no fees...As my vehicle is a Tesla it records the actual time vehicle was parked. We did some shopping and while there Black on Black towing removed the vehicle claiming violation of private property use and proceeded to tow. The vehicle was parked at 6:55 pm on 08/05/23. At 7:28 PM Black on Black towing removed the vehicle and as most people know once towed you are at the mercy of the perpetrator. But CA vehicle code 22953 addresses this issue. It designates no vehicle can be removed for a minimum of one hour after having been parked. More notably, upon violating their authority, they are liable for twice the amount charged for tow and storage. Do we really want the property owners using Black on Black towing as there go to considering this type of predatory behavior...?...BTW... there were two infant chairs buckled in the rear seat of my car... read more

I had a very good experience with Black on Black towing. My car got towed for leaving it with hazards on in a gated residential... Completely my fault, so I can't complain about that. However, the owner Art, was very easy to communicate with about getting it out. Scheduling an appointment was simple and they were punctual as well. I was parked in a private drive was loading a dresser when one of their drivers [in front of multiple wittiness] pulled my vehicle passed the fire lane and hooked it up the driver would not explain why untill he was paid a dropping fee of $80 he was very rude and very argumentive he seemed to enjoy his job he kept my vehicle on the lift while blocking traffic as we pleaded with him. Obviously it's about the money and not about keeping lanes clear in this neighborhood. As we drove away we noticed a few cars parked way past the red line as he drove right passed them I wonder why he felt the need to pick my vehicle today. Black and Black Towing Company 2/18/23 Worst towing company there is and that person named "Junior" is so disrespectful. No good customer service. Completely lies from the first phone call. When we asked what it would cost he stated he could not tell us until tow truck arrived with our car that got towed from a sports game. Once we got there, he received my registration, and he stated it was expired, that was the first registration copy at hand but car had tags. He stated he could not use tags, needed registration. I spent 10 minutes looking all in my car for that document and went online with DMV to get appropriate paper if needed, but having a hard time online on my phone and I did not want to leave my car there. I felt rushed. Once I said then" i'll have to call police because they will be able to run registration and see that tags and insurance are valid". Then he was willing to do transaction. I could not get in building , everything pretty much closed off. He asked if I was to pay cash or card and I stated card. He tells me $419.00. I ask to see the breakdown. Shows me a paper which states Towing Rates 2023. $161.50 for first hour of fraction, $100.00 Special Dollie, $57.50 daily storage which doesn't total to $419.00. He asks for the paper back and I tell him I wanted to keep so I can have copy of amounts charged. He stated "Well take a picture then". I asked if i can use restroom as i had to go and he stated he did not have one. I asked if we can hurry the transaction as I have to go to restroom badly. He gets a phone call and starts having a conversation with a driver telling him when he shows up he'll explain this and that. I had to tell him "excuse me" twice so he can continue assisting me. He was a jerk, he was doing it on purpose and I am almost 60 years old, no need to be rude to me, .He asked me for my address, and I informed him he had my driver's license and he also made a copy of it, he can take it from there. After he had ran my card, then he gave me a notice "Important Notice" and an invoice that needed to be signed. I signed and gave forms to him. Then he said you have to sign exactly like your license or I will reinstate the charge to your card and not give you car. . I told him he was rude. He knew I had to go to restroom and he was taking his time. Now the worst part of this ** I went back to game and found out that Black on Black Towing towed car right next to mine as well. different scenario, the lady caught up to the truck driver and was trying not to let them take car, but they did and lady went in to talk to manager of same restaurant that called my car to get towed, and they called Black on Black Towing to return car and towing company told her if they pay $150.00 they would return car!!!!! so they returned car. Now where is the fairness. * Junior lied that they cannot have the tow truck return when we asked if they can return it and we would pay there. * But yet, they did return the other car within 10 minutes and charged them $150.00. This company is crooked, liars and thieves, because they do make side agreements with people. This shows this company is not ethical. Junior (would not give his last name) lied from the beginning when he said there is no way they can bring our car back, they are not allowed to do that, and 10 minutes after I drove off from where they towed car, they towed one next to me, but did bring it back and charged a total different amount!! I found out that owner is named Art, funny thing, person's name listed as driver on invoice is named "Art". Black n Black towing Invoice with amount listed charged, does state at bottom "Upon Request, you are entitled to receive a copy of the Towing and Storage fees and Access notice. There is where another $100.00 gate fee is listed, not on the Towing and Storage fee notice. Once I got back to ballpark, I did find registration form. I was rattled and nervous as anyone else would be when your car is impounded. I had three copies in glove compartment of different years. I called in the morning and asked for the Mgr and person on phone stated they were the manager. Asked for their name and it was (Junior). I asked for Art. He stated it would take ARt a while to get back to me so i should speak to him. I left message for Art. Two days later spoke to Art. informed him i wanted to talk to him about one of his employees or other Manager being rude. First thing he said was "Why, because he did not let you use restroom?" First of all no i told him. Went on to explain, and he spoke over me. He kept cutting me off telling me "Junior" was correct. I went on to explain how disrespectful and rude he was and "Art" said "No he wasn't". As i continued to explain, Art said"Are you done, because i have alot of work to do".
