I wasn't able to check in due to having nearly continuous no service on my cell for 4 days. The staff is courteous and helpful. And, they have several different tours to fit almost any budget. I took the Badland Adventures tour #4, which consisted of about a 17 minute flight over the Badlands (an awesome view). It was my 3rd ride in a chopper. Solo passengers need to be aware that there is a $45 fuel surcharge added to the bill. But, in my opinion, it's well worth it. Also, heavyset individuals need to be aware that they may not be able to go in a group, due the weight limitations for the helicopter. And, it's possible that you may be turned down. So, I suggest calling first. I have pictures, and some video. But they were taken with my other cell phone. So, I have to get them transferred before I can post them. read more

I would give 4.5 stars if I could, but rated 4 to get attention. This was my 4th helicopter ride, and wanted to see Black Hills, Mt. Rushmore and Crazy Horse from the above. So we signed up for Southern Hills Panorama Tour after checking their web site. The photos on the web site shows Mt. Rushmore and Crazy Horse very close with helicopter. So we expected a lot closer view on our ride. But it was nothing like that. Mt. Rushmore was small and in far distance. At least we had few seconds to take photos from where I was sitting (right side). We were told that we could have a better view of Crazy Horse on the way back, so I expected to get footage or photo. But it appeared on the left side and far, so I couldn't record anything. My friend who was sitting in the middle couldn't take good photos, either. We just kept moving. This was little disappointing for us for the price we paid. Maybe we would be okay if the web site didn't show those close-up photos for advertisement. Maybe they are not allowed to fly closely, then those photos should not be used. Our pilot (forgot his name) was very friendly and informative, and the ground crew were nice, too. I have no complaint about service. read more

The service from Dory, the cashier, was exceptional even though she was suffering from eating too many french fries after a tonsillectomy and had gotten lost from her home in the sea and her friend Nemo. Justin, the ground crew member, was knowledgeable and expertly guided me into the helicopter with ease, despite the fact that he had explain the entry procedure to me multiple times. The tour itself was GREAT! We got closer to Mt. Rushmore than I had anticipated. So close, in fact, that I could see that GW had forgotten to brush his metal and ivory teeth that morning...no wonder he had dental trouble. Mike, the pilot, was very knowledgeable and made the ride very enjoyable; the landing was smooth as a baby's bottom. Highly recommend flying with this company! read more

Another highlight of our amazing cross country trip. While I was driving to Mt Rushmore I saw this helicopter taking off, and walked into their office and I got the tour with in 30 mins. And also.. they have provision to keep your pet if you want to. It was very beautiful experience. read more

We are at the Badlands location right now- 10:45 on Wednesday the 9th of June. A party of 6 who made a reservation for noon on Sunday the 6th. We received a message on approximately 10am on Sunday that our reservation had been canceled due to maintenance on the helicopter. I get that, we want safety. So we called and rescheduled our flight for today at 10:30. We got here and checked in at about 10am. Many people were coming and going so at about 10:25 we asked how long it would be. We were told we were down 4-5 on the list and it would be about 50-60 min. When we said, "But we have an appointment." We were told that appointments aren't necessary and that walk-ins come first. Well then what the heck good is an appointment!? We made an appointment so that we could schedule the rest of our day. Everywhere you go appointments come before the walk-ins. He kept saying, "It's right there on the website that appointments aren't necessary." Well, what it should say is that appointments are USELESS! We could have been here at 8am if we knew our appointment was useless. Very disappointing. We have four grandchildren with us and it's the first time in a helicopter for all of us. I hope the ride will be great. read more

Took the Discovery Flight at Crazy Horse location and the Expedition Tour at the Badlands location. Gound staff at both locations was very attentive, answering our questions and explaining the safety procedures. Both pilots (Brian and Mike) were experts all around and made us feel very comfortable. Went on tour of Rushmore, Crazy Horse and surrounding areas on 8/14/15. The tour was $175 per person and was about 25-30 minutes. It was the first time in a helicopter for all in our party, my wife, my 6 year old daughter and myself. The tour was FANTASTIC! Our pilot, Joseph, was young but very, very good. Even though it was his first season flying the Black Hills he was knowledgeable of the area and flew a smooth flight. I would recommend this outfit highly and suggest you arrive as close to opening as possible, got busy as we were leaving. read more

Awesome experience. Everyone who worked there was very helpful and informative. My boyfriend and I have never flown on a helicopter before and the recommended tour was fantastic. The black hills park is lovely as was the sculpture of crazy horse. Viewing both from an aerial perspective was one of the most exciting things done on my trip. The pilot was friendly and knowledgeable, the other members on the ground were equally knowledgeable and friendly.
