The coffee was spot on as well. This place is on the outskirts of town and tucked away in the woods. During our stay we saw a number of deer, rabbits, and wild turkeys roaming around. At night, the sky was brilliant with stars. This place also has animals on the property! There's a retired show bull who loves getting head scritches and licking people's hands, and two goats who go crazy for attention when they see people. Of course, all three love getting fed treats as well. My favorite animal was Dr. Kitty, a small gray cat who has run of the property. Whether I saw Dr. Kitty outside or inside, she always ran up to me for love and attention. My favorite memory of this trip was sitting in the leather armchair in the living room with Dr. Kitty putting away in my lap. This B&B has multiple room styles; there are some that are part of the main house, as well as standalone structures if you prefer your privacy. There is a play area if you travel with small kids as well! In all honesty, this B&B is such a charming find in Custer, and I couldn't have imagined staying anywhere else during our visit.

A private outdoor hot tub, under the countless stars, is a perfect romantic escape for couples. It has a queen bed, sofa TV, DVD player and a CD player. There is a small kitchen area with refrigerator, microwave and a coffee maker. Outside there is a gas grill and picnic table. The owner, Joyce, will fix you a delicious breakfast every morning and deliver it to your door with fresh juice and hot coffee. It is a very convenient drive to many of the sights around. We especially enjoyed Custer State Park. The are many birds that are in the surrounding area and a quiet walk to the woods will allow you to view many species. We happened to be the only couple staying in this giant cabin for 3 days, so our experience was pretty unique. Everything was really clean; there were multiple bathrooms, so it most likely would not have been an issue even if more couples/families were there. The breakfast was good! They let us put in our requests so we had French toast, eggs, sausage, bacon, toast... I have a dairy allergy and they were very accommodating to ensure I could eat the breakfast. They were also accommodating with the time breakfast was served and changed it based on our activities for the day. If we are ever back in Custer, we will be staying here again for sure!

It's a cute house with a very nice front porch. There is parking in back but spaces are tight if the inn is full and when all the cars are big SUVS. We got there rather early as our plans that day were disrupted by the torrential rain but the hostess was there and we were able to get settled in our room right away. We had the writing room which has a shared bathroom down the hall with one other room (the least pricy room). It's is very bright with three big windows, lots of natural light. There is a small fridge which is convenient. Bed a bit soft but for one night it wasn't a big problem. The bathroom is a good size with a retro free standing tub and the shower is hot and strong. From the inn to Main Street is an easy 5-10 minute stroll. Plenty of dining options as the town is quite interesting even though it's all geared towards tourists. Hostess will give you good recommendations if needed. Breakfast was a hearty chunk of Christmas casserole - the best I've ever had chock full of tasty ingredients. Would return to this inn next time just so we can have the same breakfast again!

My wife and I booked this place based on the advertising that said we could ride horses, our daughter is a rider and quite passionate about them. Upon arrival, Laura was unsure of what days we'd be riding. Keep in mind we asked about all this beforehand. Now, the days were hot in July so we figured we'd be riding either early in the morning or later in the evening. Fine. But she gave us no plan. I finally went back up to the house to nail down a time. We agreed to a morning ride the following day. Great! Nope. She later texted saying she had forgotten her husband had some meeting and if we could reschedule for that evening at 6. Cool. Nope. Something happened to the horses and she had to cancel. Ok. I get that. But then, she had some all day thing the next day and thereby effectively killing all options for riding as we were leaving the day after. My wife proceeded to ask for a partial refund as this was not what was discussed or advertised. Nope again. Her excuse this time? We hadn't signed up or paid for that. Cmon. Bad business and advertising. There were also guests arriving who were trying to reach her and couldn't and were quite frustrated with the lack of communication. So, great place in terms of scenery. But be forewarned of what is said & advertised because we did not get what we paid for by any means. Duly noted. We won't be back.

The staff is friendly and the owner lives on site. Love the breakfasts! We are big breakfast eaters and we were never disappointed! We enjoyed talking and eating with others in the restaurant. Wayne is a great server/host! He was always asking us what we were doing for the day and had suggestions too. The hotel is small and local and in a somewhat quiet location. There is a patio with gliders or high tops to sit out on or we enjoyed the bench on the lawn. When I saw some of the other hotel choices I was looking at online I was glad I chose this one. It's off the beaten path but near everything. I was looking at some choices in Keystone and was so happy I did not go there.
