It's a cute house with a very nice front porch. There is parking in back but spaces are tight if the inn is full and when all the cars are big SUVS. We got there rather early as our plans that day were disrupted by the torrential rain but the hostess was there and we were able to get settled in our room right away. We had the writing room which has a shared bathroom down the hall with one other room (the least pricy room). It's is very bright with three big windows, lots of natural light. There is a small fridge which is convenient. Bed a bit soft but for one night it wasn't a big problem. The bathroom is a good size with a retro free standing tub and the shower is hot and strong. From the inn to Main Street is an easy 5-10 minute stroll. Plenty of dining options as the town is quite interesting even though it's all geared towards tourists. Hostess will give you good recommendations if needed. Breakfast was a hearty chunk of Christmas casserole - the best I've ever had chock full of tasty ingredients. Would return to this inn next time just so we can have the same breakfast again!

The B&B is situated about 5,000 ft. above sea level on several acres of land. The drive is absolutely beautiful and you are in close proximity to all the area attractions (Mt. Rushmore, etc). Amenities: The room we stayed in was very cozy and had all the nice amenities you would expect from a B&B. Not too large, but not too small. The hosts make you feel at home so don't feel shy about asking them questions. Your room is actually part of the house, so your room is across the hallway from other visitors. We didn't mind because our neighbors were very respectable and there are only two other rooms. The doors lock, however you don't get a key to your room so the back door stays open. They have an open door policy and I didn't find this to be a problem. Our car was parked within a short distance to our back door so there was no need to lug your gear up any challenging walkways. Everything was neat and clean and your room is cleaned daily. The food is exceptional. Leslie is a gourmet cook and will accommodate any needs you have (like Gluten free). She makes a great variety of foods in each of her breakfast so it is not the same every time. The portions are just right and it gets you enough food to get you through a good part of the day. Travel: You will do a lot of driving as you have to go about 6 miles of winding beautiful road down to the town of Keystone everyday you travel. It takes about 15 minutes. You need to watch for wildlife because there is a lot of it! Company: Leslie and Ron were wonderful hosts and they know a wealth of knowledge about the area. Other: They have two animals: a very loving Lab and Cat. They were very well behaved animals and they didn't bother us in the slightest. Price: The price was very comparable to a Hotel, but here you receive a full course breakfast and the beautiful surroundings without the noisy crowds of a hotel. As I was out all day and using it only for a place to sleep the size didn't bother me. There is a large living room downstairs with a non-HD TV for those who need entertainment or a place to sit. The two breakfasts were outstanding - a baked egg casserole the first day and French toast smothered in peaches the second. I passed on the home-made pecan rolls as I was full. Breakfast is at 8 a.m., so if you head out early you may miss out on it. I declined a offer to take a roll with me on my travels. The mansion is just off a main intersection so there is some traffic noise, but nothing that the air conditioning's low hum could not mask. Custer is centrally located for visiting the southern portion of the Black Hills, and if you want to stay somewhere other than a motel in a place with friendly hosts knowledgeable of the area, the Custer Mansion is a good choice.

At around 8pm, Marilyn informed us that she always has a home made desert that she serves in the evening, which was just perfect. Wine, dessert, great accommodations in the middle of a beautiful, serene, quite and peaceful location; what more can you ask for. In the morning, she makes a excellent breakfast which includes, coffee, juice, pastries, eggs,etc. The perfect food you need for your fun adventures that this area provides. My wife and I would strongly recommend staying at this place if you are to see all the wonderful things that this area provides. The best thing is that you are away from all of the other tourists at night and you just relax, open a bottle of wine and just enjoy the beautiful surroundings in the evening. The owner, Joyce, will fix you a delicious breakfast every morning and deliver it to your door with fresh juice and hot coffee. It is a very convenient drive to many of the sights around. From the moment we arrived, we were shown nothing but kindness and hospitality from the operators Tara and Mike. The welcoming environment of this place extends into every nook and cranny. Guests can access free microwave popcorn, sodas, ice, and coffee, and can access the main lodge at anytime and sit on the couches or read in the library area. There is wifi accessible and our room came with a tv that included access to a variety of apps, including Netflix. We were fortunate enough to bunk in a family suite and it is perfectly suited for a group of people that are looking for a home-away-from-home feel. With two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and open-concept kitchen and living area, it really felt like we had our own apartment here. The kitchen and bathrooms are thoughtfully stocked with travel-sized toiletries and condiments, and there are plenty of dishes and cookware to utilize. There would be no need to worry about cooking in the morning, however, because breakfast is prepared and delicious! Every morning was plenty to fill me up for hours, and the variety and quality of food was really exceptional. It is served at a communal table, so everyone at the lodge eats together. This turned out to be the most pleasant surprise, as we began establishing friendships and connections with other people.
