Otherwise, the place is 5 stars. Really sweet young family trying to make a go of it. These cabins are absolutely wonderful and so close to both Keystone and Hill City, SD. We had the pleasure of enjoying cabin 6. There is a cozy loft, comfortable living space, everything you need kitchen and dining area and a super comfortable main bedroom. Two bathrooms with the most adorable shower curtain give you everything you need! Stays nice and warm and opens up to a front deck that has a view. Some traffic below as you are not too far from the main road. However, the placement of the cabin really helps! And plenty of trees around. Definitely recommend!! read more

GREAT option for housing REALLY CLOSE to Mt. Rushmore! We stayed three nights in the Black Hills of South Dakota and this was our home SUH-WEET home late in the winter season. Now, staying IN a log cabin IS NOT something Southern Californians normally do, so this was our chance, wahoo! After looking at the "available" winter options (not all businesses are open year-round here), we found this place on an Internet search for lodging close to Mt. Rushmore. Our initial source was www.keystonechamber.com under "find lodging." Then confirmed it's likability on tripadvisor, where it sported a 4.5 stars with 22 reviews, which certainly raised some eyebrows. During the months of Oct.1 to May 1, price range is from $95-125.00 4 people, $5 for each additional person. Aw yeah, SOLD! There are 6 cabins, built in 2007, located on S. Fwy 16. We stayed in #2 Cabin, Sunset Ridge. The "office," a.k.a. the owner's house, overlooked the grounds. Friendly interaction to obtain our keys and that was the last time we saw them. Sunset Ridge cabin has 2 beds & 1 bath, with one Queen in a loft, and the other in a room. There's also a hide-a-bed sofa in the main living space. Wow factor for the young squires, besides being in a log cabin, was the porch swing! Wheee!!! The only cabin on our level with one :) Clean and cozy inside. Heat strips are smartly placed high, away from curious munchkins. An A/C unit is there but, unnecessary during our stay. Beds & pillows were comfortable. The kitchenette, with microwave, lil fridge, electric skillet, & sink, helped keep us on the go. The main question was would the traffic sounds from HWY 16 be irritating? It could barely be heard while we were awake, and after all the daily explorations, we were all too exhausted to even notice any commotion while the moon shined. Yup, outtie like a light at night! 25 miles from Rapid City and 3.6 miles from Mt. Rushmore, our location allowed easy access to all the interesting things in the area which were open at this time of the year. Despite this being a true log cabin, this wasn't "roughing" it at all. No complaints here! EASY recommendation ;) Just so you know, the office does have a DVD player available. We watched National Treasure 1 & 2, and North By Northwest during our stay (movies with Mt. Rushmore in them). read more

My family of 4 rented cabin #6 (trails end Cabin). It was a beautiful cabin. It was just as explained online. It looked just like the pictures shown on their web page. The price was reasonable for a 2 bedroom, 2 full bath, mini kitchen furnished with supplies, and sitting area with pull out hydabed along with wrap around porch. The owner was extremely friendly and helpful with anything we may need or want to know about the area. If we ever come back to the area we will definately stay here again and we will tell others about it also!!!! read more

Me, my wife, and our 2 sons (13 & 6) stayed in cabin 5 for our vacation and loved it. The owners are very welcoming and helped us plan out some of the sights we wanted to see. The cabins are beautiful, clean, and well kept. It's a peaceful place to visit and we enjoyed each of the 4 days we stayed. We enjoyed making a fire in the fire pit and cooking s'mores with s'mores kits that the owners Jim and Crystal have available in the office. The cabins have bedding, dishes, a fridge & everything needed to be comfortable. I'd HIGHLY RECOMMEND staying here! You won't regret it! read more

Our whole family loved these cabins! They are very close to Mt. Rushmore and Crazy Horse, which was the first reason that I picked them, but we ended up loving them for so much more than that! They had so much character and charm. Not like your cookie cutter hotel. The cabins were well equipped with everything you would need to stay a night or a week. They were very clean and well kept and the owner was one of the friendliest guys I've ever met. If you ever go to Mt. I stayed here one night in late March. (Wish I could have stayed longer!) It's close to Mount Rushmore (about a 5 minute drive) and 17 miles from Crazy Horse. My family recently stayed at Rustic Ridge cabins while visiting the local sites. The cabins were quaint but roomy, comfortable, and very well maintained. While the cabins are just off a roadway, noise was never a problem. The proximity to local attractions was perfect! (ie. Custer State Park hiking, Mount Rushmore, Sylvan Lake etc...). Best of all was the family that runs it. They were a wealth of information with advice about hikes and to places to eat that were great. They made us feel very welcome.
