Had the pleasure of speaking with Senenity over the phone the day of our arrival, very friendly and willing to help with directions, she was extremely helpful as we checked in, took extra time to explain the hotel and area. We were greeted with a smile & a hello on every time we passed thru the lobby that was genuine, Senenity is definitely the right person for your front lobby. We were also introduced to Barbie who also managed the front desk, she has such a bubbly happy attitude that just makes you want to smile. Brandie the assistant manager was extremely helpful when we had a late evening request, went up and above to bring new pillows to our room. Appreciated her making sure the next day shift got our request and followed through. Thats great customer service to insure satisfaction. Gloria the room attendant was more than happy to help me with additional towels and others on the 4th floor were all accommodating when we need additional items since we didn't need our room cleaned daily. Overall, the room was super clean, extremely spacious with comfortable bed and couch. Appreciate the extra coffee table and bed bench to store our items on, two large screen TV's, the towels are a lot to talk about, they are the best towels we've come across staying at hotels, wash cloths, hand towels and bath towels are very large in size and soft, very noticeable & appreciated. The hotel is located in a great area, felt safe, lots of lights in the parking lot, plenty of restaurants and gas stations, three highways going different places which made sight seeing easy to access. Enjoyed the delicious coffee that was available in the lobby all day and night with lots of other options, decaf, variety of tea, hot cocoa and all the creamers etc. One item we've never seen utilized at a hotel but it's a fantastic item are the carts like they provide at airports for luggage, we didn't need to use them but we saw families checking in/out and what an asset for them. Lobby provided a lot of sight seeing/what to do material and maps which was a great help, we didn't need to go anywhere else for information. The breakfast was a great addition and very convenient so we didn't have to go out, large variety of hot and cold items, the waffle mix had a delicious flavor, everything was well stocked and resupplied by Roseanna, her husband and daughter made everything perfect every morning. Great weeks stay and we were thankful to all the staff at Best Western Plus who made things easy for us

The negatives are as noted: -Extremely SMALL pool towels -Beds very FIRM. Not to our liking but maybe ok for some. We did appreciate the extra fluffy pillows. -breakfast: hot foods lukewarm at best. Even first thing in the am. However the kids did enjoy the waffle station. I really liked the cinnamon scones on our departure date. Overall I would recommend this hotel and the mid breakfast is still better than no breakfast at all.

I do wish the bathroom had been a little larger and that it didn't have a shower curtain instead of a glass door. Housekeeping is not provided daily, but you can request fresh linens and amenities each day, and they will be delivered to your room. Overall, it's fairly priced, great for families, with plenty of parking and lots of nearby services. I would definitely recommend it for anyone visiting the area.

The Nest is a no-frills, independent hotel that's clean and super comfortable…read more You can tell from looking at the building that it's been here for awhile, but they clearly didn't cut any corners in remodeling the interior or exterior. They basically took it down to the bare walls and rebuilt it. Having stayed in my share of remodeled properties, I appreciate the quality and workmanship I see in my room. I don't come across places this well built very often. The rooms are very basic, but they're spacious, functional, and absolutely clean with a very modern vibe. There are a couple of "apartment" rooms that would work for families. The rooms have a 50 inch TV on the wall, microwave, fridge, and coffee maker. Beds are comfortable, pillows are supportive, and the AC works great. While there aren't many restaurants in the immediate area, Rapid City isn't that big and is easy to get around so you can find pretty much anything in a few miles. I like that they use open shelves instead of dressers - there's plenty of space to open your suitcase. And even though this is a simple, almost Spartan hotel, the upgraded soaps & shampoos are a nice touch. The Nest may not have a name brand, but it's a well run hotel that I would book again. My only gripe is you get a little road noise in the room, but if you kick on the AC's fan that goes away.

The B&B is situated about 5,000 ft. above sea level on several acres of land. The drive is absolutely beautiful and you are in close proximity to all the area attractions (Mt. Rushmore, etc). Amenities: The room we stayed in was very cozy and had all the nice amenities you would expect from a B&B. Not too large, but not too small. The hosts make you feel at home so don't feel shy about asking them questions. Your room is actually part of the house, so your room is across the hallway from other visitors. We didn't mind because our neighbors were very respectable and there are only two other rooms. The doors lock, however you don't get a key to your room so the back door stays open. They have an open door policy and I didn't find this to be a problem. Our car was parked within a short distance to our back door so there was no need to lug your gear up any challenging walkways. Everything was neat and clean and your room is cleaned daily. The food is exceptional. Leslie is a gourmet cook and will accommodate any needs you have (like Gluten free). She makes a great variety of foods in each of her breakfast so it is not the same every time. The portions are just right and it gets you enough food to get you through a good part of the day. Travel: You will do a lot of driving as you have to go about 6 miles of winding beautiful road down to the town of Keystone everyday you travel. It takes about 15 minutes. You need to watch for wildlife because there is a lot of it! Company: Leslie and Ron were wonderful hosts and they know a wealth of knowledge about the area. Other: They have two animals: a very loving Lab and Cat. They were very well behaved animals and they didn't bother us in the slightest. Price: The price was very comparable to a Hotel, but here you receive a full course breakfast and the beautiful surroundings without the noisy crowds of a hotel. We would definitely stay here again if given the chance!

While visiting Crazy Horse and Mt. Rushmore, I wanted lodging that was different and unique, and this was perfect. I stayed in Cabin 1, so I can't vouch for the other cabins. Cabin 1 had a wonderful old, loved feel, yet was clean and tidy. It had a large main room with kitchenette, table, futon and VCR/DVD with satellite TV. The cozy bedroom had a comfortable bed with plenty of blankets. The bathroom was very small, yet fulfilled my needs. The property had wifi and an enclosed hot tub, although I did not use either. When I was there (Late May) it got cold at night, but the cabin stayed quite warm. The location is perfect, just south of Hill City, very close to both Crazy Horse and Mt. Rushmore, close to restaurants in Hill City. If you're visiting Crazy Horse or Mt. Rushmore, don't go to a sanitized cookie-cutter chain hotel. These cabins complete the experience of being in the Black Hills.
