The inn is a bit tricky to find as it's in a residential neighborhood just outside of the downtown Main Street area and there are no prominent signs, just a small one that you will miss unless you know where to look. It's a cute house with a very nice front porch. There is parking in back but spaces are tight if the inn is full and when all the cars are big SUVS. We got there rather early as our plans that day were disrupted by the torrential rain but the hostess was there and we were able to get settled in our room right away. We had the writing room which has a shared bathroom down the hall with one other room (the least pricy room). It's is very bright with three big windows, lots of natural light. There is a small fridge which is convenient. Bed a bit soft but for one night it wasn't a big problem. The bathroom is a good size with a retro free standing tub and the shower is hot and strong. From the inn to Main Street is an easy 5-10 minute stroll. Plenty of dining options as the town is quite interesting even though it's all geared towards tourists. Hostess will give you good recommendations if needed. Breakfast was a hearty chunk of Christmas casserole - the best I've ever had chock full of tasty ingredients. Would return to this inn next time just so we can have the same breakfast again! read more

Wonderful place to stay in Deadwood. Quaint inn, all sorts of interesting paraphernalia and history. Room was comfortable, bed was great, breakfasts were amazing, especially the coffee cake french toast. Nyla and Tom were both very helpful with recommendations. We made a last minute booking and luckily the Library room was available. This home is full of charm and the hosts are wonderful. Comfortable beds and delicious breakfasts with wonderful coffee are enough for the 5-star review but they offered so much more. This was our first time to the area and we had a detailed plan of what we wanted to do. But then the owner sat down at the table with us, and we learned all the local tips that really made the trip! What luck one of the owners is a historian/travel writer! He offered a wealth of information that sent us on the most incredible drives to all the famous sites - at the perfect time of day (very important for the best photos). We planned to only stay one night but enjoyed it so much, we booked another night. We probably would have stayed longer but they were booked up. One of my favorite things to do is to visit old cemeteries and walking distance from the Inn is Mt. Moriah Cemetery where Wild Bill and Calamity Jane are buried. And downtown Deadwood, is a short walk in the other direction so the location of 1899 Inn is perfect! It's on my list of places to revisit! read more

Wow how can I give the B&B more stars. The ambience was simply amazing. We stayed for five nights and would have stayed here forever. Nyla took care of us and made such amazing breakfast each morning. She asked if we had any dietary needs. I said I was doing the keto diet and she knew exactly what it meant and always catered to my diet. I loved that so much. We stayed in the music room. It's up high so you will need to carry your bags up two flights of stairs but once you make it you will flabbergasted. We loved the room. The common areas are very peaceful. We sat and played scrabble for a hour or so just to enjoy the building. The building is amazing. The decor matches what you would expect for a fully restored Victorian home. Tom told us stories. It was perfect. He was able to tell about things we were interested and provided guidance as needed. His knowledge was informative and well received. read more

My wife and I stayed at the 1899 Inn in Deadwood for 2 nights recently. The house is a beautifully restored home from the late 1800's period of Deadwood's heyday. The owners, Nyla & Tom Griffith, were excellent hosts. Nyla prepared a delicious breakfast each morning, and Tom (who is a renowned author of books on local history and Mt. Rushmore) was always available to tell us about the colorful history of Deadwood and the surrounding areas, and give advice on taking sightseeing day-trips to the many points of interest in the area. We are definitely planning to return for another visit in the future, and look forward to spending more time with Nyla and Tom at the 1899 Inn. read more

Such a nice B&B! The house was full, but quiet. We stayed in the Library room and it was just right. Lots of old books to look at and read if you want. Very close to everything. I have an egg allergy and for breakfast Laura made me some oatmeal. Now I like oatmeal, but I have to say I was a bit leary of eating it "out" so to speak....well man I couldnt have been happier!! It was pan seared with a blueberry honey compote, and so yummy!!! I appreciate her taking my allergy into account and making sure I had more than toast. Thanks for a great stay!!! A wonderful little B&B! Close to Main Street, located in the Presidential District, in a Victorian house built in 1899. Hosts Laura and Dustin were most accomodating and welcoming. The breakfasts were great, and the coffee delicious. The rooms are adorned in a classic Victorian decor, and the beds are comfortable. Our stay was most memorable. My parents and I stay at the 1899 Inn Sept 17th. It was such a great experience. It's the first bed and breakfast, my parents had been too, and they loved it. A brief chat with them you can learn a lot about Deadwood's history. I also learn that Laura is on the Deadwood's Historic Preservation Board, it's great to meet some fellow preservationists on our trip. Walking through the house, you can tell they really try hard to keep the historic home beautiful and lovely. Dustin is very friendly and quick to help too. The breakfast are amazing, price are reasonable. Even their add-on bed are super comfortable. We will recommend to everyone. read more

The 1899 Inn is a "must stay" when you are in or near Deadwood. Exactly as described on Bed & Breakfast website...actually even better! Close to everything and within walking distance of most places you would want to visit. We stayed in the Library Room and it was perfect for us. Dustin and Laura and "the house cats" are gracious hosts. Breakfast is the best we have ever had at a Bed and Breakfast! My hubby and I were on a four week road trip around the USA and stayed at 3 B&B on this trip..the 1899 Inn was the best by far. read more
