Peggy and her team were great. Coming from Florida we set up the trip well in advance towards the end of the season. The weather turned bad and we were a bit concerned. Peggy worked it so we could come in on another day and even though it was cold for us Floridians (48 degrees with wind), they made sure we were comfortable. The first few minutes out to the Black Hills was a little windy/cold, but our leader Randy took us on trails were the wind subsided and the view was amazing. An absolutely stunning setting in a valley below Crazy Horse. Great trail ride at a walking gait. All the staff were professional and so friendly - they gave great instructions and had us all laughing as we got ready. The horses are healthy, and the stables and equipment are in good condition. The staff sprayed disinfectant in all helmets prior to use. It appears to be a very well-run organization. My sons and I had an amazing time on our ride today. Making reservations was easy. The instructions we received before we arrived, reception and payment, and the orientation and safety brief were all great too. Our guide, Becca was awesome. She was extremely knowledgeable and gave us great information throughout our entire tour. She kept an eye on all of us and made sure we were safe the whole time, too. The horses were well trained and my sons (9 & 14) had no issues with them at all. Great experience! Our wranglers were great! I would definitely recommend this place to anyone. They even will lead your Littles around on a pony for a very small fee. I wish I could remember our wrangler'a name. He was tall, thin and wore glasses. He was a very funny guy and just really made the whole ride special! What a Wonderful soul he is! On another note, My husband Weighed 230 and that was too heavy for the other Trail ride businesses. We loved Rockin R! We called during busy season and they were able to accommodate an early morning trail ride for our group of 8 (4 kids 6-8 years, 4 adults) the very same morning. Staff was totally accommodating, friendly and laid back. They had plenty of helmets, jackets to borrow, and offered to fill up our coffee before we went on our trail ride. Our trail guides were great with the kids and adults alike. Great experience and all of the kids loved it. We signed up for a half-day ride that took us through a scenic trail where we had a great view of the Crazy Horse monument. Our guide, Kat, was friendly and knowledgeable and handled the group perfectly. It was a leisurely tour. There was no trotting, running for those who prefer that type of ride. This was a great tour for beginners or those who only ride occasionally. Experienced riders might be bored with this type of tour, although Rockin R may be able to accommodate more experienced riders if you call and ask. Horses were all very well behaved. My horse and my daughter's horse got spooked by a deer, but they only pulled to the side and didn't rear up. They seemed to know the way and mostly followed directions, although mine loved to try to stop and eat whenever possible. :) read more

Can't say enough good things. This was my son and niece's first real ride on a horse. We were worried they might get a little scared but they were thrilled. Also the groups were small and my family ended up being the entire group(5 people) although this was early in the morning and it looked more crowded around ten. I saw the high review for Rockin' R and wasn't sure it was going to be as great as it was. I went with my 7 yo nephew who has never rode a horse before and it just so happened that we were the only ones on the hour ride. Our guide, Walter, was AWESOME! He was talking to my nephew the whole time and even answered the MANY questions he asked and was very great with asking him questions as well. Walter also took my camera from me during the ride and stopped many places to take our pictures. I will definitely recommend them to anyone and everyone going to the hills! read more
