    Calamari

A highlight of the trip so far. The wine was fantastic but the food was the star. The seafood chowder was the best I've had so far (third location). The French cut beans with hazelnut in a butter sauce were amazing. The potatoes with chorizo were delightful. Quickly fried then pan fried to add a crunch with wilted spinach was so good. The potatoes really were a delight. The calamari was some of the freshest I've had and the curry mayo dipping sauce added a spicy element that was also amazing with the potatoes. Honestly, make a reservation, you'll be glad you did.

Delicious. If you get one of the sandwiches, I definitely recommend the chorizo add on. The portion was great for lunch. Really comfortable seating and friendly service. Would definitely come back.

I visited the Black Cat while on my solo portion of my Ireland trip - and it was truly a treat! I felt a tad bit under dressed as I stopped in after a full day's worth of exploring Galway. (I was in my traveling gear - tennis shoes, fleece, etc.) It wasn't as though I felt awkward walking in the door, but I immediately wished I was in something cute and sleek. This is a place for dates. Girlfriend chit-chat. The wine and dine area of Salthill. I loved everything about it - ESPECIALLY its branding. Hello - cats! The service was spectacular and they treated me like a princess - continuously checking in and conversing with me about the places worth checking out in Salthill and Galway. I sipped on wine, enjoyed my clam chowder and felt at peace throughout my entire meal. The reason I knew about this spot in the first place was because it was highly recommended by the lady I was staying with through Airbnb. It's basically hugging the Atlantic Ocean, so you can literally take a stroll by the water after your meal. It's perfect. Salthill itself was wonderful and I can't wait to return. And I'll definitely be revisiting the Black Cat.

Excellent Tapas, ambience and service. Better than any we had in Spain. Would highly recommend.

Everything was great but would have to say: Scallops and black pud - an oddly good pairing.

We had to wait a couple of minutes for our table then were seated. Prior to coming to Cava Bodega, I had tried some tapas but not much so I wasn't sure what to expect. To start, my friend and I got a glass of wine then ordered food. For dinner, we ordered the anchovies with piquilla pepper, patatas bravas, and paella marinera. I had never tried anchovies so I was admittedly nervous but the dish was sooo good. Patatas bravas is a dish I've tried before but I really liked Cava's version. This was also my first time trying paella and it was delicious! Everything was cooked perfectly and had a great combination of flavors. For dessert, my friend and I ordered the churros. Can never go wrong with this sugary cinnamon delight and we were definitely happy! Overall, I had a great time at Cava and it was the perfect birthday celebration. If you want to give it a try, definitely go for it!

This two-story restaurant (with dining in the basement) is bustling especially on weekends, so making reservations is recommended to avoid disappointment. We started with a Spanish red wine and ordered the following tapas to share: 1. Mussels with almonds and white wine sauce 2. Gambas al ajillo 3. Paella marinara 4. Squid with lemon mayonnaise 5. Croquetas 6. Churros with chocolate sauce and ice cream We had a lovely dinner here, the vibe was casual and fun, and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. They have great, efficient customer service with good price points. If you happen to find yourself tired of bangers and mash or fish and chips, some Spanish tapas are a good recommendation for something different while in Galway, Ireland.

The space itself is small and cozy, with just a handful of tables and a private room, which gives it that intimate, tucked‑away feel. I'd 100% go back. They offer two specialty cocktails and a wine list, and while the cocktail selection is limited, the wines are unique and fantastic -- definitely worth exploring. The food was outstanding across the board. The monkfish scampi isn't what you might picture, but it's fantastic -- super crispy and full of flavor. And you have to get the bread: tomato focaccia or brown bread, then topped with the fennel, thyme, and maple butter were all unforgettable. The bavette steak was delicious, and the mashed potatoes were truly out of this world. The sea trout was incredibly fresh; just a heads‑up that the gremolata is spread over the whole dish, so it ends up almost poached in olive oil -- worth noting for anyone sensitive to that, but the flavor itself was excellent. Definitely end the night with the affogato and the shortbread cookies (chef's kiss). Who doesn't like to dunk their dessert? Highly recommend, would absolutely come back.

It reminds me of a country home by the water. The service was friendly and young. I got the plum salad, fallow deer, and roasted peach/caramel ice cream. The salad was spectacularly tasteful and fresh. I felt like the deer was a little too salty for my taste, but presentation was good. I was disappointed by the dessert. My ice cream was partially melted and the peaches were cold. I would give the environment/ambiance 5/5, service 5/5 and food 3.5/5. Overall 4/5.
