Great tapas! It is beautiful, historic and elegant in this restaurant/hotel. We loved the tempora Monk fish. It was so good! One of my favorite dishes we ate while in Ireland. A highlight of the trip so far. The wine was fantastic but the food was the star. The seafood chowder was the best I've had so far (third location). The French cut beans with hazelnut in a butter sauce were amazing. The potatoes with chorizo were delightful. Quickly fried then pan fried to add a crunch with wilted spinach was so good. The potatoes really were a delight. The calamari was some of the freshest I've had and the curry mayo dipping sauce added a spicy element that was also amazing with the potatoes. Came here to stay overnight after the f1showrun. Was welcomed with a smile, and was directed to my room. A few stairs up, I found my room, spotless, and nicely setup. Downstairs is the restaurant, which unfortunately doesn't offer breakfast. There are plenty of places around though to go for breakfast. I will definitely come back again. read more

Superb dining!! Made a same-day reservation for a party of 6 to dine on a Sunday evening. Classy, clean, romantic atmosphere. Service was prompt and accommodating. Our group loved the wild mushroom risotto (highlight of my meal personally), chicken wings, and pork belly. Enjoyed their crème brûlée for dessert as well. The Black Cat is ideal for either date night or catching up with friends. The service is always impeccable and the quality of the food is really amazing. Its small so book ahead. As it tapas have a look at the menu in advance so you get an idea of what they're serving. Or just order everything which usually happens with tapas. The Scallops and Calamari are amazing. I visited the Black Cat while on my solo portion of my Ireland trip - and it was truly a treat! I felt a tad bit under dressed as I stopped in after a full day's worth of exploring Galway. (I was in my traveling gear - tennis shoes, fleece, etc.) It wasn't as though I felt awkward walking in the door, but I immediately wished I was in something cute and sleek. This is a place for dates. Girlfriend chit-chat. The wine and dine area of Salthill. I loved everything about it - ESPECIALLY its branding. Hello - cats! The service was spectacular and they treated me like a princess - continuously checking in and conversing with me about the places worth checking out in Salthill and Galway. I sipped on wine, enjoyed my clam chowder and felt at peace throughout my entire meal. The reason I knew about this spot in the first place was because it was highly recommended by the lady I was staying with through Airbnb. It's basically hugging the Atlantic Ocean, so you can literally take a stroll by the water after your meal. It's perfect. Salthill itself was wonderful and I can't wait to return. This was a surprising find. We just got to Ireland and were exploring and decided to go to the Salthill section. We were just getting ready to get a cab back to our hotel. The cabs were right in front of the door. Our attention was drawn to the sign outside which hat two pieces of cheese with a camera with the caption say human. We checked out the menu and the prices were reasonable and the food looked good great. We shared four tapas. The chili shrimp squid was fantastic. The mushroom bread was wonderful. What an absolute adorable place. I just love tapas bars, I love ordering a little of everything to share moth my companions. I had my best friend with me and we love our food! Ordered the charcuterie plate and burger sliders, they were delicious! It gives off a romantic vibe inside, very cozy and quaint. Modern-rustic interior, great for all parties. Nice little bar/ restaurant in Salthill serving a variety of tapas dishes, but a bit on the pricy side. But the portions are quite large, the ambience is really nice and quite formal, and the quality is pretty good. The inside is a bit on the small side though, but there is a full bar and the menu has a lot on it. The hummus and pitta lunch was really nice, and the soups are great too. But you can probably find similar food for cheaper elsewhere. read more
