Great little Spanish tapas spot in the centre of Galway! Surprisingly, it appears like this seemingly low-key place actually got some Michelin stars in the past (based on the signage on the windows), so we came in with high expectations. We ordered the Paella Marinera (25.5 EUR), which had red mullet and mussels. The red mullet was a soft white fleshy fish that was pretty tasty with the skin slightly crisped on the outside. The mussels were a little small but good as well. The rice had the typical paella flavor, but I thought this paella was missing a few additional items that other places usually add in. We also got a cured meat and cheese board with jamon, serrano, and manchego cheese (18.5 EUR). These items were all high quality and delicious. The board also came with some toasted almonds and these little candied fruit cubes which were surprisingly good. Lastly, we got the Confit Pork Belly (6 EUR). I thought it was cooked nicely such that it was crispy on the outside but still soft. The little green and sweet garnishes on top were a nice touch to complement the fattiness of the pork belly. As mentioned, the restaurant is a bit small but has some nice character. There is a cozy/homey environment with a dark brown wooden theme and a little bar area. They also have some ham hanging from the ceiling by the bar, which gives it an authentic Spanish vibe. The staff are friendly and the service speed is decent. Overall, Cava Bodega is a very solid option if you are interested in having some authentic Spanish food in Galway in a cozy space.

If you're looking for traditional Spanish tapas while in Galway, then head over to Cava Bodega near the City Centre. We enjoyed our tapas and wine downstairs in the cozy restaurant. Service was friendly and welcoming. Recommendations: Try the Patatas Bravas, Charred Corn, and the Wild Mussels. Our three favorites!

Cava Bodega will transport you to Spain and make you forget you're in Ireland. You need to make a reservation here as this place is popping off well into the night. We ordered so many things along with a fantastic bottle of wine that was recommended to us by our amazing waiter who I can't remember his name! The standout tapas are: Olives Pinches w Jamon, Manchengo and Quince Paste Patatas Bravas Churros The scallops were a tad lackluster in flavor and the duck was a little too gamey for us. The mini burgers are huge and can definitely be split between 2 people. The restaurant is charming, cozy and has clean bathrooms. Don't fill up on the delicious bread!I would definitely come back when in Galway.

I've never been to Spain so I can't speak to the authenticity of the tapas but compared to what I have had, Cava was leaps and bounds above the rest (sorry Dilworth Tasting Room, I still love you). Ambience: this is your quintessential cozy, romantic restaurant. Definitely perfect for dates. The space is small but I loved the decor and vibe of both the upstairs and downstairs parts. Service: our waitress was very nice and extremely helpful in making suggestions since the menu was a bit overwhelming. We told her some of our preferred flavor profiles and her recommendations were spot on. Food: we ordered 6 tapas for 2 people, per our server's suggestion, and we did not leave hungry - it felt like a good amount. We ordered: organic mushrooms x2, Catalan ratatouille, Kenmare smoked salmon, chorizo with potatoes and red wine, and tomato bread with Serrano ham. Yes, it's pricey but we felt the price for the quality was well worth it as each dish was amazing and filled us up. For me, the mushrooms were the best I've ever had so I had to get a second order. One of the best restaurants I've ever been to, Cava did not disappoint. It looks like they used to have a Michelin star, too? I'd highly recommend making reservations and keep in mind that they're strict about the 2 hour limit per reservation. Thanks again, Cava, for a spectacular experience.

Cava bodega holds up to the Michelin star. Service was nice and very friendly. All tapas we ordered were 10/10 and it was the perfect taste of España (just how I remember). I wish I had more time in Galway to go back and try more to menu items

This is a mist try spot in Galway! Make a reservation to make sure there is room for you. Our waitress was amazing with recommendations to avoid food allergies. The highlights of the meal were the eggplant and honey, wild mushrooms, mussels, and churros. This would be a great date spot.

Excellent food! I was in Galway for a day and had to try this place. I wish i had more company to try more of the menu. It is a bit pricey, but very worth it. The highlight for me was definitely the scallop with black pudding. I was also a big fan of the balsamic vinegar with the bread.

The space itself is small and cozy, with just a handful of tables and a private room, which gives it that intimate, tucked‑away feel. I'd 100% go back. They offer two specialty cocktails and a wine list, and while the cocktail selection is limited, the wines are unique and fantastic -- definitely worth exploring. The food was outstanding across the board. The monkfish scampi isn't what you might picture, but it's fantastic -- super crispy and full of flavor. And you have to get the bread: tomato focaccia or brown bread, then topped with the fennel, thyme, and maple butter were all unforgettable. The bavette steak was delicious, and the mashed potatoes were truly out of this world. The sea trout was incredibly fresh; just a heads‑up that the gremolata is spread over the whole dish, so it ends up almost poached in olive oil -- worth noting for anyone sensitive to that, but the flavor itself was excellent. Definitely end the night with the affogato and the shortbread cookies (chef's kiss). Who doesn't like to dunk their dessert? Highly recommend, would absolutely come back.

I had my first cruffin which is a fluffy croissant. The raspberry and lemon cruffin and the chocolate and coffee cruffin were the favorites. The vanilla and plum danish was also a winner. Loved the coffee here as well as the espresso was smooth and bold. I absolutely love the ambience inside. With the stone walls and candles, it felt like you were dining in a castle. With coffee shop music and art on the walls, you could easily spend hours here with a book and coffee. Very friendly service but not the place to come if you are in a rush. It is popular and meant to be a place to linger. Lots of people coming for takeaway as well and people were able to bring their dogs inside to pick up food but not sit inside with their pets. There are a few tables outside for seating though. Looks like there is also a tasty lunch and dinner menu as well but they sure know how to deliver on breakfast.
