Cute friendly place on the water with excellent service - boy are they busy there! I'm not sure where the kitchen is because there was food coming from all directions! I wish I could give Ruibin 5 stars but the items we ordered were not all 5 star items although I'd go back for the seafood ceviche alone and just eat that and the tomato salad and call it quits. - bread and butter provided at no charge were excellent - 5/5, soft chewy bread with a nice crust - sweet potato and split pea puree with pistachio and pita - 4/5, yummy and a solid offering - seafood ceviche - 5*/5 this was truly the star of the night. Deliciously fresh with two large round fresh tortilla wafers so so good! - duck breast - 5/5, this was my partner's outstanding dish - the duck was perfectly done and with a crisp skin. Wish I'd ordered this one. Instead (having had fish for the last seven meals!), I ordered - pastrami bavette (sliced steak with a very heavy crust of very salty spicy pastrami seasoning). The server did warn me it would be spicy and it definitely was - a bit too much so and salty too - perhaps if they had seasoned it a bit more lightly / the end piece that were mostly pastrami seasoning were almost inedible they were so salty. The potato side that came with it was delicate and crisp and delicious, I did eat a lot of the steak just around the pastrami crust and I did not have the bleu cheese since I don't care for bleus- that may have softened the saltiness, maybe - tomato salad - 5/5, this was excellent and light with juicy tomatoes, radish slices, some greens We didn't see anything appealing on the dessert menu so skipped that part, We're glad we tried Ruibin and would definitely go back for the ceviche alone! read more

In two weeks of eating around Ireland, this was the standout. Great food, great service and great ambiance sitting in the bar area ( which is in several rooms). Where to begin? Every dish we ordered was good: oysters with rhubarb salsa; sweet potatoes/split pea dip with pita; tamarind beef skewers; mushroom dumplings; beet salad and the amazing ceviche. All are small plates perfect for sharing. Everything was excellent though the dumplings were under spiced. One fun note: they sell glasses of mystery wine, high quality wine not listed on the menu and you guess what it is. We had a few! Padraic o conaire, the Irish author that Galway likes to talk about, lived where the restaurant is based now. The rooms are filled with plants and photos; as well as jars of liquor being infused for future cocktails. Reservations are mandatory but not too hard to get in the bar. Charming little place that caught our eye on a walk around the Spanish Arch. We decided to stop in at the end of their lunch service for a glass of wine and they managed to sell us on their seafood chowder, which was delicious and everything was fairly priced. read more

Went here for our first night on a girls trip in galway and it didn't disappoint. a few of us got drinks and they were all so tasty that we went back for a second round. most of us are either vegetarian or vegan, and while these options are limited, they did quite well with what they did offer. the mushroom and tofu dumplings were pretty tasty and being someone who doesn't love mushrooms, i was impressed with the taste. my friend got the baked onions dish and was quite happy with the flavor, as well as the celery dish. we were quite content with the flavors of everything they brought us- very creative and well done. the ambiance is arguably the best thing about the place- it's right on the water and we caught a nice sunset as we were eating. super cozy and nice. our waitress was friendly and sweet, definitely no complaints with the service! overall, it's a pretty expensive place but i think worth the price. read more

We were walking around the Spanish Arch and decided to try Ruibin for lunch. Somehow we had the impression it was a typical pub with pub grub. We were so wrong and I'm glad we gave it a try. We were taken to the second floor to be seated and given a lovely window seat looking out toward the marina. This is a locals place and there were several business people there entertaining clients. The menu is unique and our meals were delicious. My husband enjoyed the seafood chowder and I tried the monkfish curry. Both dishes were spectacular. Amazing all around! We visited end of June for lunch as walk-in guests, but are still thinking about this place. We started with top-notch oysters. Dining upstairs requires reservations. This place was HIgHLY recommended by several local area individuals (bus drivers, taxi men, local whiskey tour guide). My husband was super stoked for the pork chop plate, unfortunately it was overcooked, tough and a bit dry although great presentation. Travel mate & I had the monkfish plate which was superb. Mine was dairy-free cashew cream sauce, hers was regular. Fine wine to top off our meal. Ruibin was recommended by a number of the locals. We thought that we would give it a try! We were seated at an intimate table in the bar area. We enjoyed a number of the delicious tapas. Loved the oysters that were prepared with horseradish and mince apples- what a wonderful combination. Service was perfect. Dennis was the best- we came to learn that he has created all of the fantastic liquers that were served.-We were fortunate to enjoy the limoncello, rhubarb liquour and the salted caramel. Each one was better than the one before. It was a memorable celebration of our third wedding anniversary. Truly the best dining experience that we had on our visit in Ireland was at Ruibin. This was hands down the best restaurant we experienced in Galway. This was conveniently located next our AirBnb and we walked by it several times to the explore Quay Street. We first stopped just to have drinks but the drinks and in-house made concoctions and tinctures were so impressive we stayed for dinner and had more cocktails. Our party of four turned in five and we almost had everything on the menu. Our server was an American from Colorado and loved Ireland she stayed. I don't blame her. We stumbled across this restaurant last night. It was exceptional. How is this place not Michelin star rated? The service, ambience, and the food were outstanding. We started with a lamb skewer, marinated olives, hummus platter and ceviche. The restaurant provides bread that is drizzled with olive oil. We kept asking for more. For the main we got halibut, ribeye for 2 ($78) and a pasta dish. Each meal was one better than the other. Portions are a good size, and prices are very reasonable. If you're on the area I would make reservations to go! Plus it's right across from the harbor. read more
