There's a reason I've been training at Karate World for over 12 years (and I'm far from the only…read moreone!). Actually, there are many reasons. First, Master Jeff Dunn is the most inspiring person I have ever met. He is a true master of his craft, and it's very clear that he is passionate about teaching people. We don't just learn martial arts, we learn life lessons. Having said that, we certainly do learn martial arts! The school offers Jhoon Rhee Tae Kwon Do, Thai Kickboxing and cardio kickboxing. Once you achieve your black belt, you begin to learn another style, Moo Duk Kwon. One of the major reasons so many of us are long-timers is because there is always something new to learn. All of the classes are high-energy! We train with music, which helps motivate us to keep moving. Our instructors are top-notch. Again, having trained under Master Dunn, they are knowledgeable, energetic, passionate and caring. Another great feature of the school is that it is family-oriented. I originally began training with my six year old son (he just went off to college). Classes are by belt level, not age group. (The family that kicks together sticks together). However, certain exercises are separated by age groups. Thai Kickboxing, on the other hand, is adults only. It is an incredible workout. We don't hit people, we hit and kick bags. (Sparring is offered but not mandatory). It's a little easier on the joints, and the moves are not as complex. It's still a lot of fun! Cardio kickboxing is a good alternative if you don't want to learn formal moves but you want a high-energy aerobic workout (with body sculpting at the end of most classes). One last thing - the place is very large, with three separate rooms. Scheduling is pretty flexible - there are some classes offered 7-days a week. It's clean and bright - very inviting. Try it - you'll get hooked, and you'll always feel welcome at Karate World!

I ended up getting smothered a few minutes in and I tapped and said I need to reset because of my elbow. I had to use everything I had to get to a position so I could breathe and eventually force the instructor off. I wouldn't recommend this gym to anyone honestly. The owner came in and told me to quote "get the fuck out". Thuggish, little rules, not clean. Sad that an instructor has the ability to strip the fun out of such an amazing combat sport.

She would get in trouble for "going too hard." FYI This place does not compete, does not support competition, and will definitely not prepare your child for a real world, self defense situation. The owner claims he is all about self defense, yet the training here is sub par and nowhere near the kind of skills you'd need for an actual fight. I regret having stayed for so long...I had no idea. I left in September of this year and my current 4 year old already knows submissions and trains hard at our other place now. My 6 year old has THRIVED since leaving Ambition. If you are just looking for a hobby, something that makes you feel like you are progressing (but really aren't), and you love the false sense of skills, then this is your place. It wasn't until I entered the real competition world of jiujitsu in July 2025, that I realized, WOW, Ambition has taught my kid nothing in terms of actual fighting, offense, and defense. She was never taught any submissions. A true disappointment. I'm a full time working mother so giving up time and money for an activity needs to be worthwhile. I have massive regrets. Was this place a nice start? Sure. But definitely NOT a place to stay at if looking for real skill, technique and progression. I wish another parent would have opened up my eyes, but as someone who at first knew nothing about jiujitsu, I trusted this place. BIG MISTAKE.
