Upon opening the door and walking in everyone looked at me and my kids and immediately knew we were unknown strangers. No one screamed stranger danger. Instead we were greeted by the warmest group of people I could have ever wished I met. I knew right away I was in the right spot. Alex, the owner came over and said hi. Mario, the kids instructor, introduced himself and asked the kids if they wanted to join a class. He makes it a point to know every child's name. He remembered both my kids names the next time we went. They love him and talk about him all the time! Shoes and socks came off quicker than you could imagine and before I knew it I felt I had been going here for years. Everyone was talking to me, introducing themselves and telling me how great the place was and how much their kids love it. My kids were treated like they were regulars and had smiles from ear to ear. At the end of the class they asked me when they could come back again. The instructors make the kids class not only a learning experience but they make it so much fun for the kids they can't help but want more. I'm looking forward to my first class and watching my kids grow here along with all the other kids. I highly recommend this family friendly place. Of course Alex was just amazing.

I was looking for a real Japanese karate school and lucked out with this one. Been going here for…read moreabout six years. I like it because it is as traditional as you can get here in the US (bow, kneeling, student oath in Japanese, white uniforms). This school belongs to an international organization managed by one of the old guard of shito-ryu karate: Fumio Demura. The main instructor at this school, Bouchonville Sensei, is very good. He's precise, incredibly patient, and yet laid back. Very good instructor. Many adult black belts help out at this school, too. Very friendly students. The school participates in other regional school seminars, tournaments, etc. I highly recommend this school, but only for people who can appreciate it and will exercise!

If you are considering signing up for karate at Del Martial Arts, say yes and make it happen!…read more Kudos to Master Del Sordo, for developing exceptional programs and training for both special students and typical students. My daughter started karate with Master Del Sordo when she was 5 years old, working with him and a Physical Therapist. She progressed to group lessons, which fostered social growth and development as she learned karate skills adapted to an appropriate level for her. Through Pediatric Martial Arts, she and her classmates at a special needs school in Westfield, benefited from wonderful instruction from Master Del Sordo in her school setting. Administration, teachers, paraprofessionals and therapists worked in conjunction with Master Del to achieve tangible goals for the students. I personally train with Master Del Sordo and he has developed and implemented a program which has had a tremendous positive impact on my overall strength, coordination and core stability. Highest recommendation! Susan W

I had to use everything I had to get to a position so I could breathe and eventually force the instructor off. I wouldn't recommend this gym to anyone honestly. The owner came in and told me to quote "get the fuck out". Thuggish, little rules, not clean. Sad that an instructor has the ability to strip the fun out of such an amazing combat sport.

She was pretty nervous in the beginning, but the staff was very patient with her, made her feel comfortable, and kept guiding her throughout the class. The best part was that within about 15 minutes, she came running over to me and said, "I want to get enrolled!" That pretty much made the decision for us, so we signed her up right after the trial. They also gave us 50% off the registration fee since we enrolled right after the trial, which was a nice bonus. It was great seeing her go from being nervous to actually wanting to stay and continue. We're excited for her to start classes and see how she grows and builds confidence along the way. So far, a really great first experience!
