Upon opening the door and walking in everyone looked at me and my kids and immediately knew we were unknown strangers. No one screamed stranger danger. Instead we were greeted by the warmest group of people I could have ever wished I met. I knew right away I was in the right spot. Alex, the owner came over and said hi. Mario, the kids instructor, introduced himself and asked the kids if they wanted to join a class. He makes it a point to know every child's name. He remembered both my kids names the next time we went. They love him and talk about him all the time! Shoes and socks came off quicker than you could imagine and before I knew it I felt I had been going here for years. Everyone was talking to me, introducing themselves and telling me how great the place was and how much their kids love it. My kids were treated like they were regulars and had smiles from ear to ear. At the end of the class they asked me when they could come back again. The instructors make the kids class not only a learning experience but they make it so much fun for the kids they can't help but want more. I'm looking forward to my first class and watching my kids grow here along with all the other kids. I highly recommend this family friendly place. Of course Alex was just amazing.

Pat is friendly but yet instills discipline with the kids and most importantly, he keeps it fun. My son really enjoys the classes with Pat, he looks forward to going to class, whereas in the past with a different martial art, he dreaded and hated it. He takes a lot of pride in it when we talk about what he did in class with my wife. Too bad our schedule only permits 2 days a week, he would enjoy going more often had our schedule permitted. And the best part about BJJ is that it's very effective to defend himself from bullies without needing to hurt anyone should one day he needs to. For myself, everyone welcomed me with open arms on my first class. I'm in my early 40's so I'm a bit out of shape, but the guys at the gym are very encouraging and friendly. Can't say enough about Pat and his gym.

After a few classes my confidence grew . I decided part of my bucket list was to get my black belt . A year and half ago I relocated to New Jersey and ask my grandmaster kim for recommendation of the best schools in the area. He called black belt world for me and spoke with master kim . Two years later I'm testing for my bodan belt - black and red - which will be preparing for the next year and half on testing for my black belt . This school is incredible . I'm in awe of the skills , hard work , dedication and tender patience each instructor exudes. They meet their students where they are at - individually- understanding each students unique needs and skills . Enhancing on those skills , they teach kindness, patience , self awareness and it's a killer work out . I've lost 15lbs since starting - their constructive critical lessons take their students into advancing quickly - when I first started i had NO flexibility NON I'm still lil rusty however it's incredible feeling when you can see the difference and feel the progress yourself . I'm amazed at what I can do . I used to compare , however when I compare my self to the beginning I'm truly astonished . Never thought I'd be able to do some of the things I've done this far - can't imagine what I'll look like in three years - " I swear it by the old gods and the new " , I plan on training til I'm a hundred - if the gods will.
