As for the food, it was honestly pretty underwhelming considering how hyped this place is. The crab dip was okay, nothing memorable. The steak and lobster was disappointing- the lobster had that soft texture that overcooked or not-so-fresh crawfish can have. The baked shrimp wasn't bad, but definitely not something I'd order again. Strawberry shortcake was decent enough. Ironically, the bread basket ended up being my favorite part of the meal-absolutely delicious. The service, however, was genuinely warm and hospitable. It was a bit slow, but the staff was kind, friendly, and personable enough that it made up for it. That was honestly the highlight of the experience. Was I excited to try this place because of all the hype? Absolutely. Would I personally recommend it? Probably not.

It was also a beautiful day so we sat on the patio. I love that they work with local organizations for fresh vegetables and meat! Our waiter was very nice and fairly attentive. But the food... For the good - the crab cake was delicious. It was like all crab meat with no filler and was very tasty. The pimento cheese was also SO yummy. You could tell it was made fresh and had a great flavor. The pita it came with was fine, a little over-grilled. I was not crazy about the fried okra. I wish the pieces weren't just cut in half, because to me they had that slimy okra texture inside. Now for THE issue. My gf ordered the Filet Mignon, medium. It came raw and without the blue cheese compound butter. By the time the waiter came to check on us, I was half done eating. He took the steak to be put back on the grill and brought it back with a bowl of crumbled blue cheese. It was still raw inside. He brought us extra fries, but by the time it came back I was done eating. She asked for it to go and it was STILL RAW. She had cut it, so it was super obvious if you looked. The manager came and talked to us and they took it off the bill, but for a $40 filet mignon it should not take 3 tries to cook it right and it still not really be right. She said there are cold spots on the grill and they're training a new line cook, but it was not a good look... I'd maybe give more of a pass if they were packed, but there was no one eating inside and maybe two other tables of folks outside.

I am extremely disappointed with our experience at Toccoa Riverside, and unfortunately, the biggest issue was the way it was handled by the manager on duty, Austin. We ordered a chicken nuggets kids meal for our 1 1/2-year-old son. When the meal arrived, he refused to eat it, which is unusual for him. After trying a piece ourselves, it was obvious why--the nuggets tasted freezer-burned, chewy, and completely inedible. They did not seem fresh and were not something I would feel comfortable serving to a toddler. We politely brought the issue to the attention of our server and asked if the meal could be switched for something else. Rather than showing any concern or attempting to make things right, Austin refused to accommodate the request. We weren't asking for a free meal or trying to be difficult--we simply wanted our young child to have something he could actually eat. What was most frustrating wasn't even the poor quality of the food, but the complete lack of customer service and common sense in handling the situation. A manager's job is to resolve problems and take care of guests, especially when it involves a child's meal. Instead, Austin chose to be unhelpful and inflexible, leaving us feeling dismissed and unwelcome. Kind of concerning the GM and owners of can leave this "MOD" responsible for handling their business. Restaurants make mistakes, and most customers understand that. What separates a good restaurant from a bad one is how those mistakes are handled. Unfortunately, based on this experience, Toccoa Riverside failed on both the food quality and customer service fronts.
