If I could give them negative stars, I would. Anyone reading this should avoid them like plague. They have an atrocious customer service -- a frustrating mix of dishonesty and extreme incompetence. Here is my story (unfortunately, there is enough material here to make a dark comedy)...
I, a UCSB employee, ordered an Amia chair through bkm, and everything was paid for around 7/15, with a scheduled delivery of 8/14. On 8/14, during the scheduled delivery window, I got a call from them that the delivery personnel "forgot" to put my chair on their truck, and I have to wait for a whole another one week for delivery (even though their office is just next door).
So I waited on 8/21 during the next scheduled delivery window, and no one showed up *again*! This time, their truck driver was taken ill and they told me about it *after* I have waited at my home for several hours, and only when I called them!
It gets weirder. Much weirder.
Next, they send an employee of theirs to deliver the chair and it is delivered in the shoddiest way possible. The person puts the chair in a car, and after parking, drags it all the way to my home as if dragging an unruly kid who is throwing tantrums.
Unfortunately, the delivered chair is malfunctioning-- the seat moves down suddenly when one sits on it (and springs back up when one gets up), and one can possibly get injured from using it. I asked them for replacement, and after one week of deliberations, they send someone for checking the chair. Guess what-- the person doesn't show up while I again wait at my home!!! When they do show up the next day at my home (completely unannounced, no phone call, nothing), they conclude that it is likely a manufacturing error, and possibly also a result of how it was delivered (see above), and they can't do anything about it.
To cut the story "short": It is two months since I placed the order, and after suffering mental anguish for the reasons mentioned above, I am still stuck up with an unusable, extremely pricey chair while bkm employees try their best to not reply to my emails or phone calls. After trying to reach them desperately over last two weeks via phone and email, when I finally got hold of one of them, he vaguely mentioned that they might replace the chair at a distant point in the future but if any of the above is an indicator, the replacement or refund, if it ever occurs, could be anytime before their company ceases to exist.
Please stay away from these charlatans. read more
