We recently tried BKK 78 Street Food in Cabazon while shopping at the outlets because we saw all the vendors set up in the middle and thought it looked fun and unique! It definitely has a cool street-food vibe with different food options to choose from. Prices were about food-court range (around $12-$18 per plate). I ordered the beef pad Thai, but sadly it was pretty dry and didn't hit my Thai food craving . I also asked for lime (because pad Thai NEEDS lime ‍ lol) and they didn't have any available. One thing to note: the portions come on very small brown plates and honestly felt more like sampler sizes than full meals. Seating is also limited. Keep in mind we are full Thai and we wanted to try out this Thai fusion truck to support but we were so highly dissapointed with the food. Everything was not authentic at all- ingredients used for these traditional thai dishes were not correct & the flavors were disgusting for the beef boat soup, mama noodle plate, & beef thai rice with two iced thai teas. Mind you it was all $97! Insane, this isnt a restaurant either! You sit outside with the flies and I guess they even knew how gross it was too. We would not reccommend- we had to throw it away after 3 bites. You would think for these prices were at a restaurant. So either theyre making up for having rent at the outlets or something. This is not a good place to eat. We found cooked fly on our shrimp fried rice and a fly floating on our tom yum chicken soup after almost finishing the food. My son felt the fly in his mouth and spit it out realizing it was a dead fly. We told them about it and they said we have no proof of it that it was really there when they served it and refused to refund because we almost finished the food. This place was so slow, expensive, and average in taste. I would steer clear of this spot. It was $23 for a shrimp pad Thai and there was barely any shrimp, it didn't even taste like pad thai, and the portion was small. I should've looked at the Yelp reviews before coming but I was hungry and naively thought it wouldn't be that bad. Alas, it was. I get why people don't give the place the highest reviews since some of their food is a hit and some are a miss. The Mala fried rice we always love! I did not get to picture their Mala noodles but that was good too. This tom yum soup was nowhere near what a tom yum should be! I don't even know what it was.... It was like those cup of noodles for $1. The noodles were the same exact one! And it cost me $17! We bought 3 things and it cost me $63! Wowww it's insane! First of all, I should've checked the reviews, that's my fault. We ordered noodles with shrimp and I swear it's just a bowl of cup of noodles with a little bit of hot sauce and shrimp added an egg. The menu promises Thai street food, but what you actually get is a strange fusion of Mexican and Chinese flavors loosely dressed up as Thai--at a premium price point. Dishes average around $23 a plate, which would be easier to swallow if the food matched the cost. Unfortunately, it doesn't. The taco meat was cold, took forever to arrive, and had a chewy, almost "dirty" flavor--like it had been reheated a few times too many. The Pad Thai came in a portion so small it looked like something you'd get from a $5 food court box, not a sit-down spot charging over four times that. This kiosk restaurant was located in the courtyard of the Cabazon/Desert Hills outlets. The prices were a little steep for street food, but we were taken back by how fricken good it was! Mr. P ordered the Tiger Tacos, and I the fried rice, with a Thai tea on the side. The beef of the taco was tender and flavorful, and not in short supply. There was also a ton of fried rice with giant crackly shrimp. With the two of us eating it, there was still too much food! The Thai iced tea was very strong and rich. I appreciate that everything there was made to order, and was very unique. The flavors were spot-on. The staff was nice, especially dealing with such a busy weekend before the holiday. This is one of the best Mexican-Thai fusion food trucks! We always look forward to stopping by here to grab some food either when we're on the way to Palm Springs or going to the outlets. I'm not sure why there's such poor reviews when there's always a long line. We normally order the mala noodles, chicken tacos, and tiger tacos. This street vendor is located right inside the Cabazon outlets. They're right when you walk in from the parking garage. There's a few vendors there, this one is in the middle. I can't believe this place has such a low star rating. The food is really good! They are kind of pricey, but, crave worthy. Notice, they don't post their prices on the menu lol? So definitely agree with fellow yelpers regarding the price. It is very overpriced considering that it is street food and the portion that you get. I got the mala fried rice and the tiger tacos, totaling in at around $30. The portion will get you full, but just barely. The mala fried rice is not too spicy and it has a really good soothing flavor. The tiger tacos were a bit smaller than your usual street tacos. It is diced grilled beed that comes in 2 grilled flour tortilla and a green sauce. Again, the flavor were wonderful, but considering the portion and the price, it's probably something that we'll try once. If you're looking for the food truck, it's located on the East side of the outlet. We grabbed ours from their tent on the West. read more
