For the record. I HATE working out. It's not that I mind breaking a sweat doing something I enjoy,…read morelike dancing at a wedding or eating a really spicy burrito. I have just never gotten a lot of satisfaction from exercise for the sake of exercise. But I don't hate working out at OTF. In fact, there are several things I really like about it. 1) I like wearing the heart rate monitor. And since I am so out of shape I practically hit my target heart rate just pressing the start button on the treadmill, having my stats visible helps me to maximize my workout. 2) I like that I get a thorough work out (weights and cardio) in one hour. I could never do that in a regular gym on my own. 3) I like that they have classes offered at many different times. There seems to be something for everyone's schedule. 4) I like that you have to sign up for your class ahead of time, but need to cancel at least 8 hours in advance. That way if my alarm goes off and I think, "Mmmaybe not this morning." Too bad, so sad, get your butt moving. 5) I like that after each class, they email you your stats for the day, along with the cumulated stats for the week, month and year. It is like getting a gold star in your inbox! 6) I like - okay, I love - that in one month of working out there, I can already see and feel a change in my body. So even though I really don't like working out, there are fleeting moments during my day when I think, "Yay! I have an OTF class tomorrow."

I can't say enough good things about Orangetheory Fitness. It has truly changed my life--not just…read morephysically, but mentally and emotionally as well. I've lost weight, my clothes fit better, and I've gained noticeable muscle. But the real magic? It's how I feel after every class. Energized. Empowered. Clear-headed. It's a gift I give myself every time I walk through those doors. I used to hate exercise. I never thought I'd be someone who looked forward to working out--but here I am, genuinely excited for every class. I've finally found my "thing," and that's saying a lot coming from someone who thought fitness just wasn't for them. A huge shoutout to Ralph, Frank, and Jasmine--they're my go-to coaches and each one brings something special to the table. Ralph's motivation, Frank's energy, and Jasmine's perfect balance of challenge and encouragement keep me coming back. And honestly, every coach at this studio is amazing. The entire team is supportive, knowledgeable, and truly invested in your success. If you're on the fence about trying Orangetheory, do it. It's more than a workout--it's a community, a mindset shift, and a path to becoming your best self.

And while Shake Shack may the perfect fix for an occasional craving, Pinnacle is an excellent place to regularly treat your body well. Pinnacle is a private gym and fitness studio largely devoted to one-on-one training. Their staff of fitness professionals specialize in fitness training, pilates, and yoga. They are all experts in tailoring your personal training to your needs. If you want to get back into shape or prepare for an endurance event, they can work closely with you to meet your goals. Over the years that I have gone there, I have seen brides (and bride's mothers!) work to get in shape for their big day. I have also seen clients working to come back from an injury or illness make outstanding progress with help from the Pinnacle team. There are also many students athletes who have further refined their skills with training at Pinnacle. The best thing is that your training is focused on you and your needs. If you are intimidated by crowded big-box gyms, Pinnacle is the perfect spot to get comfortable with exercise and work towards your fitness goals. Pinnacle's clients range from teenagers to hearty nonagenarians and everyone in between. Regardless of age or fitness level, all clients are made to feel comfortable there. If you are unsure of how to get started, stop by and the friendly front desk staff can give you a tour of the facilities and discuss your needs. If you are focused on exercise, you may train with one of the personal trainers. If balance and flexibility are your goals, pilates and yoga are options for you. There are actually many clients who work with staff members in both areas. The facilities are the icing on the cake at Pinnacle. The main fitness room and the pilates/yoga studios are very well maintained and are never crowded. Also, the locker rooms are more like what you'd see at a spa with towels and grooming supplies. Perks include a small steam room for the guys and upscale products for the ladies. If you train at Pinnacle regularly, you can also work out there on your own without any monthly fees. Make 1849 Post Road East your destination for health and fitness. With some hard work and support from the folks at Pinnacle, you'll be looking and feeling better in no time. And then you can treat yourself once in a while to the food in the front the building. You may be so happy with your progress that you just might opt for healthier fare, but for the record, the vegetarian burger's pretty tasty! Full disclosure: I did work at Pinnacle for two months two years ago. I have, however, worked out with my Pinnacle trainer for ten years. I believe that both of my experiences have given me the perspective to speak to the high level of service and results seen at Pinnacle Health and Fitness.
