I think it's really a 2.5 Stars but I'm rounding up to 3 Stars. Cost: I needed to get a dedicated electrical circuit installed for an over the stove microwave. BK Electric came out within a few days to take a look and give an estimate. I had received a lot of estimates for this project and BK Electric was in the lower middle range of the prices I got. Scheduling: This was honestly a nightmare. After I signed the contract and put down a deposit they scheduled me on a day for the following week. This outlet installation was required to be completed prior to a Costco purchased microwave delivery and installation appointment. They cancelled on me and needed to reschedule 3 separate times. Each time I was only notified the day of the scheduled appointment. This caused the follow on Costco microwave installation appointment to need to be rescheduled each time. To be fair to the person in the office, Eli, it wasn't his fault and he was properly scheduling and doing his best to get the electricians out to do the job. It was the electrians who either were calling out that day or last minute going to "higher priority" job sites. However, for the BK Electric as a whole, this is pretty terrible customer service. Work: The quality of the work seemed good. Where and how the ran the line and the junction box with the outlet installation all seemed cleanly done. However, there was an issue where they did not install a GFCI outlet in the new location that required it. This delayed the microwave installation since the Costco installers refused to install without a GFCI outlet. I had to call BK Electric and have them come back and fix it. read more

This felt like a bait-and-switch. Paid $225 for a diagnositc, agreed to a $1020 quote, and put down a $300 deposit to schedule the work. When the electrician (different from the initial) arrived, the price was suddenly increased to $1570-- no prior indication, just a completely different number at the the time of service. I rejected the new inflated quote. I'm not comfortable with pricing that changes after an agreement is made, and won't be pushed into using my deposit as credit to proceed. BEWARE! read more

The team at BK Electric was prompt and professional at responding to emails and calls. I had a light fixture go out at my showroom and good news was that they service commercial spaces too! Their prices were also less than other companies I have contacted. They accept payment by Zelle, Venmo or ACH. Credit cards are accepted too but there is a 4% service fee. During the day of the appointment, the crew came on time, explained what they were going to do and everything was quick. It was a positive experience, and everyone was friendly. STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS This is the most crooked company I have ever dealt with. They collected large sums of money upfront and massively overbilled without completing the work. We paid 15,600 dollars and still do not have the flangeless cans we paid for in full. They make endless excuses and then simply do not show up. When you finally get frustrated after being ripped off, they flip the script and insult you. Marina actually said that every contractor on site had said horrible things about me, which was clearly an attempt to deflect from the fact that they took money and never finished the job. Lights flicker throughout the house, several do not work at all, and they left dirty handprints all over freshly painted walls. We were left with an incomplete job, missing lights, and thousands of dollars wasted. See the screenshots attached for how Marina speaks to clients after her company takes your money and disappears. She is extremely sweet at first and says things like "we treat our customers like family," but the moment you hold them accountable, she turns hostile and unprofessional. Save yourself the stress and hire literally anyone else. UPDATE: After posting my review, the owner reached out privately and referenced California Penal Code §632 in relation to the text messages I quoted. I want to clarify publicly that this statute applies only to audio recordings, not to written communication such as text messages. Leaving 3 stars because they may be great electricians, but it seems I wont ever see it with my own eyes. I needed a circuit installation and was supposed to receive a FaceTime call at 1pm to show them the scope of work. I left work to make myself available. By 4pm I was upset that I hadn't received the promised call so I called them and got in touch with the electrician who gave me a rough estimate. He offered to call me back after checking the schedule to see when he could come see it in person. A couple days went by and I never heard anything back. Disappointed because it seems they are skilled electricians but the experience and disregard for my time left a sour taste. BK electric fixed an electrical issue on the electric water heater that provides hot water to the commercial kitchen in our site. Before hiring BK electric, we had a few plumbers look at the water heater and they suggested we replace the whole water heater all together since it was no longer functioning. I have an unfortunate update to this original review. I have had BK complete many tasks at a few different residences since my initial post in 2022. They have always been timely and responsive (hence the multiple jobs over the years). However, I've been extremely disappointed with the most recent job. I had BK replace my electrical panel over two months ago. I am still waiting for them to schedule the inspection and close the permit so that I can actually close up the stucco. I've been very concerned about moisture from rain given that the wall remains open. They have become unresponsive and have offered very little assurance that they are continuing to pursue the completion of the job. Unfortunately, I've already paid in full, so seems like I have very little recourse. Hoping that this can be resolved but this review is my initial attempt for some accountability. read more

Needed to have an old fluorescent light replaced in the garage and decided to just replace 10 fixtures with new LED ones. Was offered a discount b/c of that. All fixtures were installed in one afternoon. After a few weeks, one fixture was turning on/off intermittently when it should be on 24/7. Erick came and adjusted the wiring free of charge. Had my builder update a plug to support an electric washer and dryer. Then I realized my mini-split and oven stopped working. After ruling out appliance issues (had an appliance repair person come check) I realized it was the electrics and wanted to find someone new to help. Submitted a quote request through Yelp and loved that BK Electric replied that they would do a facetime call to do an initial diagnosis free of charge. Super-convenient. Walked through the facetime call diagnostic and felt that we narrowed down the root cause and got a ballpark estimate. Aldo and Erick came out and took care of it in 30 mins. Replaced a breaker and reconfigured wires that had been put in the wrong place. Oven and A/C now work great. Happy camper. Will add them to my go-to list for any electric work needed. read more

I needed to have some simple electric work done at my home and put out a request to get various quotes from many of the reputable electricians from Yelp. BK was one of the electricians that responded to my request and I was a little hesitant to reach out to them because there were a number of 1 star reviews that complained about them standing up customers or not following up with customers. However, I decided to give them a shot anyway after contacting 4 other electricians and my experience with BK has me thinking that if there were communication and response issues, those have been addressed and things are different now. BK's electricians came by when they had scheduled to provide a quote and the individuals, Aldo and Mario were friendly and went into details about what needed to be done and answered my questions and concerns. The quote they provided was in line with what other 5 star electricians were providing but the discount through Yelp made them a little less expensive and since I got a good vibe from them during the estimate process, I decided to go with them. Got in touch with Enrique from BK because I needed a new outlet installed. He was solid with his communication and after a FaceTime call to walk through what I needed he was able to give me a quote. The next day we agreed on a price that was fair for both of us and got everything scheduled. His guys called me this morning 30 minutes before their arrival which I appreciated. Aldo and George arrived on time and were very nice, professional, and quick. The new outlet was ready in less than an hour, we tested it to make sure it was working well, and the guys cleaned up after themselves. Update 5/20/24: I really hate to leave a bad review but I've been left with no choice since they were unable to follow up about a water leak due to a screw from a grounding conduit. The conduit bracket screw on the left side was screwed directly into the main water pipe in front of my house. I called, left a message, and sent this very photo plus a video showing the leak coming out directly where the screw was. I received a call back the next day by Aldo who was understanding about it, but he informed me his boss said "the leak would have happened right away" when his team installed this which seems like a brush off response. As you can see in the photo the screw is definitely in the pipe and made a puncture in it. I confirmed that this was not altered or touched since the install in October. Not sure how long this was leaking but we noticed this on April 14th. I had to have this fixed asap and luckily my neighbor's brother was a plumber and was able to fix for a fraction of the cost vs hiring another plumber. I just asked if I could speak to the owner directly if they can make this right and cover the $120 cost but they never returned my calls. Also, they took a very long time refunding $300 that i was overcharged on a negotiated price for an electrical routing and panel job for my garage. I had to keep calling for 3 weeks to follow up and the receptionist first said it would take a few days and then kept giving me the run around for the next few calls until the new receptionist finally was able to process the refund. It always mystifies me how some businesses get almost 5-star ratings on Yelp. I created a "project" here; this was the first business that had replied. I called them on a Sunday, and the person who answered was fine but sounded like they were speaking through a tuba. My biggest issue is that the electrician was a no-call, no-show. They were supposed to come at the latest, 11 AM today (Monday). I called at 10:50 AM and was informed they were running a bit late and should reach by around 11:30 AM, which I said was fine, no problem. I had to call several times after 12:30 PM just to get someone to answer the phone, and at this point, if I can't count on them being on time or proactive at letting me know an updated ETA, I don't want them anywhere near my electrical. Now I'm over a day without partial power. Save your time; call someone else. read more
