This was our second time coming here in a few years, and we chose it for a celebratory meal. It was busy--but not overly packed, as not every table was seated. First off, the food was great--no complaints there at all. However, the service left a lot to be desired. The staff seemed rushed and didn't always take the time to fully listen to us. Our waiter took our drink and appetizer order, and everything initially came out fine. But while placing items on the table, one of our drinks (a specialty lemonade with no free refills) was knocked over. No one offered to replace it right away. Paper towels were placed on the table, but my kids and I ended up cleaning the spill ourselves. When we asked about replacing the drink, we were then told it would be on the house--which was appreciated--but it didn't arrive until most of the main meals had already been served. To make matters worse, the waiter left the replacement drink on an empty table across from us, and I had to get up to retrieve it myself. On top of that, I had to wait an additional five minutes for my meal because it had apparently been given to another table. Then our waiter asked if we would like dessert. My husband responded that we weren't sure, but we might order something for our daughter. The waiter acknowledged this and said he would be back shortly. However, when he returned about 10-15 minutes later, he brought us the receipt instead. We had to remind him that our daughter wanted dessert. He then took the receipt back, said he'd be right back, and hurried away. Our waiter seemed nice, just very rushed, even though the section only had about six tables and was split. Overall, great food, but the service experience took away from what was meant to be a special occasion. Then my husband was checking the payment options and the waiter had the wrong meals on the wrong tables.... We get this could have been a off day we get it my husband used to be in the food and beverage industry....but geez. Food awesome service leaves more to be desired. read more

Came in a Thursday night since I saw there wasn't many people there. The service is amazing, nice hostess, sweet waitress. I ordered the avocado egg rolls which were amazing, and for my entre I ordered the fish & chips, also delicious. My SIL got the shrimp scampi pasta and she said it was also great. My only thing would be pricing, it is a little on the expensive side for the food that you're eating, you can go somewhere else and pay way less. Overall it was a nice dining experience. read more

Let me start by saying we went for my Husbands birthday yesterday and the whole experience was bad. Waiting to get a table was fine but upon sitting at the table it took our waitress maybe 30 mins or more to come to our table and even introduce herself and take our drink and app order. Once that was done, we waited a good 20 more mins or more for that to show up and when it did, our Avocado egg rolls we ordered were with bruised and brown avocado in it and did not look appetizing in the slightest. After the meal, tracking down someone to get out bill was just as hard to do and we ended up staying almost 3 hours at this restaurant when it could've been more like 1 and a half. Although they did give my husband his free pizookie for his birthday and the main entrees were okay, I'd still say the experience was lacking and not good at all. I've been a BJs customer since Cali. Was super excited they had came to the valley in like 2008 or something right around where I relocated from SoCal. At first I was afraid they wouldn't last since a lot of franchises seems not to stay too long...even so nowadays. Food and service has gotten way better Over the years. Management is always accommodating about minor to major complaints , not that I'm the one to complain , but to attention for a better experience on my future visits. My all time favorite items are the bread bowls, chicken chopped salad and avocado eggrolls. Pizza always a great option...deep dish style and very loaded. Pizookie definitely can't go wrong for dessert. read more

Friends and I went to hit a quick bite here. Their happy hour specials were really great. For $3 you get chips and salsa with guacamole. They just keep it coming too. Was a great deal. The mini pizzas are normally $13 but happy hour they are half off. I got the house pizza and the Buffalo chicken pizza. The pizzas were really good and decent price for $7 a piece. I definitely wouldn't pay full for them though I ordered a house red ale that was on happy hour for $5 and it was a good beer at great price. Service was pretty great read more

Delicious beer menu....great variety of entrees.... multiple types of seating options...and attentive waiters..BJs has always been a great place for us to eat. I've been to BJs multiple times by now and finally decided to put pen to paper...or finger to phone? The one "appetizer" that never fails are the bread bowl soup options. Absolutely fantastic...each one. I've tried the tomato/basil, chili, broccoli cheddar, and the tortilla soup options, each one equally filling and delicious (even tho my personal faves are the tomato and broccoli options). The bread is perfectly toasted with a delectable taste of garlic with each bite. Every time I visit BJs...the bread bowl is a MUST. I've sampled the wings...the deep dish pizza...tavern pizza...pasta. Every single dish has a depth of flavor. It tastes fresh, every single ingredient shines and the flavors are not complicated. I do like their sitting arrangements. When you enter, you can see different sections and each section produces it's own ambience. There's the bar area with all the TVs for the late night drinkers who might get a little loud. Then the one-seat booths for the couples on dates one section over. Then the larger booths/tables for bigger groups. And then on it's own, you have a side where it's obviously for families with little ones. It's very well thought out. Their beer menu cannot be compared....their beer options are the perfect complements to their meals. The beers do not feel separate but part of the meal. I drank two 8% glasses and left feeling...well amazing. Top quality ingredients...diverse menu... appealing environment...this is a must stop if you're from McAllen or just passing by. read more

The first time my I visited BJ's I wasn't too impressed with their menu. That was 3 years ago. Not sure what made me want to go back, but I'm glad I did. Their power bowls caught my eye and I ordered the one with the blackened salmon. It was delicious. My husband ordered a medium rare steak and even though it was undercooked he ate the whole thing up. The third time we went back, we just got dessert. They really do push those. If you're not full after your entree, I'd say definitely try their pizookies. read more

First iff the food was excellent. We were with a large group, about 25 people. All our orders were taken quickly and everything cane out on time except one order. They made that right almost immediately. The person sitting next to me ordered a pizza. It was a little done but she was eating it anyway. The manager without being asked brought out another pizza because the chef didn't think the first one should have gone out. So service was about as good as you could get. I had the seared ahi tuna salad and my wife had the southwest salad. The tuna was seared nicely and was very tender. There's a little pop of wasabi that makes the salad interesting. The southwest salad comes with a grilled chicken breast that looked a little too done but my said it was good. The music was very loud. When asked if they could turn it down they did one better. They turned it off. We will definitely be back. It's nice to go somewhere that really wants you as customer. read more

Lutz had a tasty I.P.A. with a mango scent, but not flavor and I had a berry cider beer. The wait staff here is always nice, polite and friendly. Always knowledgeable and helpful with smiles to boot! The pork chop was tender, the cauliflower came with a yummy sauce at the bottom of the bowl-I believe it was a mix of turmeric and peanuts. It was so good, we dipped our pork chop into it! We had a family birthday gathering and decided to take our out of state-family to BJ's, We were told the waiting list was 1 hr and decide we were going to stay and wait for our table of a party of 17. Long story short.. after almost 3 hours!! I talked to one of the attendants and he said our table was almost ready, they finished cleaning the table and we proceeded to sit down when manager John came and said that was not our table and we should wait and gave our table to 6 young ladies that had just arrived (his friends), he also said that table is not fit for you it only has 7 chairs, guess what John, I counted the chairs there were 17 John really needs some customer service training, after 3 hrs of waiting the least he could do could have been polite but was rude instead. We walked outside when we received the text message " please come back your table is ready" we went and ask ... his reply..No! That is and error!! No manners whats so ever. Went on a Friday night. Called and in 40minutes they seated us. It wasn't that crowded at all. We had 3 empty booths around us. Appetizer : BBQ TRI- TIP Sliders which had nachos then melted cheese for meat we asked for steak (medium to raw) avocado and salsa on side. The cheese wasn't warm - cooled pretty quick. Wished there was more avocado and little bit more meat for the nachos underneath. Overall tho I really enjoyed this and would get it again. Crunchy, cheesy wit steak and avocado with some sour cream and dipped in salsa. My boyfriend and I shared this. dinner: we both got the $28 special which came with salad or soup, steak (MED-Raw) & 2 sides, and choosing a dessert. I ordered the chicken tortilla soup which was really good- textured by the tortilla and soft smooth avocado in warm chicken soup. Piranha ale chili was ordered - tasted like chili - pretty good if your a chili person. I preferred the chicken tortilla soup. Main entree - I didn't like the mashed potatoes at all. Regretted not getting the fries- which were still fresh and hot, crunchy, salted right. The steaks were good my boyfriend mentioned they didn't put salt or pepper and it was alright. I placed 2 STARS - ONLY BC THERE WAS A SMALL BUG IN MY BROCCOLI I saw the broccoli move and fall in a weird way and then saw it crawl out !! I had only like 4 bites of steak, 2 bites of mashed potatoes , and ate 3 -4 broccolis ! I wanted to cry ! So the quickly took it away offered to get another or replace it - at this point I didn't want anything. She apologized - she said the $28 would be cut off from the bill Then they brought the dessert - and her and the dessert bumped a 1 star to a 2 star. Dessert: I got the triple chocolate - it was too much chocolate but still really good. All I can say is WOW. Customer service at BJ's should get a hundred stars in comparison to other restaurants in this area. It seems that treating the customer nicely and being polite and helpful is a rarity in the valley, but BJ's has it down. Also, they have great food and great beer. I loved their fried artichoke appetizer and their gourmet mac n' cheese. Mmmm... so freaking good. Main courses I got to try a lot of different things as I snacked off other's plates. The patty melt was actually really good, so are their french fries, I got to try the Parmesan Crusted Chicken (recommended by our AWESOME waiter Fernando) with a lemon/butter sauce which was delicious. It came with white cheddar mashed potatoes that were awesome as well. I didn't get to try it but one of my workmates couldn't stop raving about how awesome the pizza was! Totally delicious and a great place to go for dinner!! Overall, it's reasonably priced, delicious food, with excellent service. What more could you want from a restaurant? read more

My husband and I are always happy with the food and the customer service!! He usually gets the salmon power bowl and I get the tri tip. Yesterday I got the tomato soup (by accident- my own fault ha) and it was AMAZING!! THE best soup I've ever had. And of course, you can never go wrong with the avocado egg rolls or their pizza!!! Sometimes their pizzas are on special and it's totally worth the trip for us, since we live far and they are so good. I give it a thumbs up, 5 stars, A+!! Drinks from the bar are good, but did have one experience where they got my drink order wrong. We waited for about an hour to get out food, thank goodness we had our appetizer. Waiter was not so attentive. Given, we had gone on a Saturday, so it was busy but not overly crowded. I'm sure there's short staff issues but if so, why open to full capacity when you can't keep up putting more stress on the employees. BJ's is so good! The housebrews are really good [St. Arnold brews for them], always try their seasonals they are above average... The Pizza is so good especially the "Med Pizza." I've had several different items and everything has always been YUM! The fish tacos are really good, I've had them a few times. The Cuban burger was okay-ish, the parmesan-crusted chicken was really good and I inhaled their pot roast sammich. Ask for the Belgian Beer menu they offer around 10 different ones in bottle along w/ a few on tap. Oh yeah if you go to a brewpub and order a bud-light... WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU??? read more
