It was hard to narrow down a selection but the pizza (pictured) was an excellent choice! I tried the Sweet Sin Chocolate Porter (ABV 6.5%) and the Prickly Pear Lemonade (ABV 6.4%). I was told that you can have up to two tasters, and those two did not do me wrong. I did go with the tall 22 oz. Sweet Sin Chocolate Porter $9.49. I'm glad that I did, strong, sweet and good with the pizza. Ava was such a great and pleasant server! She was very attentive, managed a large section and was knowledgeable and helpful with questions. My husband and I hadn't been here in at least a year. We were very glad to see Carlos, our favorite server, was working. He's always so friendly and helpful! I tried the seasonal draft, he said it was an IPL, it was pretty good! We shared the garlic butter shrimp, which was delicious and probably terrible for our hearts. Then we tried the nachos, which had plenty of toppings, even under the top layer of chips. There was a surprisingly large amount of diced chicken on top. Great atmosphere full of lots of people wanting to enjoy football. Menu and beer selections were vast. Settled on one of the $13 specials that are really a great deal!!! We were having multiple beer because we're were in a hotel nearby. My husband ordered a burger meal. We were sitting at the bar bar tender gave us great service but about 3/4 of the way through the meal I found a large metal shaving in my food. I brought it to the attention of the bartender who got the manager. Manager said he would dis cuss it with the kitchen and comped my $13 meal. I looked up on my phone and saw how serious accidental ingestion of metal can be. I feel like they were not nearly alarmed enough. To add to the stress of the evening my husband was seated next to a young woman (who came after we were sitting there). She was obviously challenged in many ways. My husband is a kind man sh he humored her incessant questioning and asking about rules of football. I know she had issues but this was very intrusive to our enjoyment of the evening. Near the end of the game a great play happened and my husband always reaction to that is to whistle loudly!!! This girl freaked out. Held her ears and yelled at my husband for being "too loud in her ears". That was the LAST straw for me. We had to politely tolerate her behavior all evening but one fan reaction from us and we get a freak out!!!! I get there are differences in people but maybe the bar wasn't the best choice for her (she was likely also under 21). So our forever memory of the great IU national championship is forever marred by this annoying evening. Luckily I don't think I ingested and other metal!!! Really disappointing with many things at this BJ's. First no hostess in sight for 5 min.. even servers were looking around for a hostess. She shows up and doesn't acknowledge the 3 parts of people standing there. She fumbles around with menus, makes no eye contact, doesn't greet us or say I'll be right with you. A managers goes to talk to her and ignores us too! Finally I had to ask if we were going to be helped!? Finally we get seated and 10 minutes before anyone comes over.. The fried wings I had were cooked perfectly, I mean just like I like them. Fried hard and seasoned well. Mike our server is like a superhero at his job. I find it to be incredibly impressive when a server can rattle off your order and not use a pad and pen. Most importantly get the orders correct. I also had the strawberry lemonade, more specifically 3 glasses of it because it was so freaking GOOOOOOOD !!! This is the first time I have been to BJ's and they didn't disappoint. So I had just came out of a movie at Las Palmas and was starving. Checked my apps and had a deal for 50% off a large specialty pizza ordered online at BJ's Brewhouse. Since I could see that place literally from the parking lot, sitting in my car, I jumped on that deal. I'd never been there and pizza sounds good on this cold evening. Ordering on line was easy, I even added the app to my phone to make it easier and 20 minutes later I was picking up a piping hot BJ's Favorite Pizza in a 14inch large. It's basically their everything pizza with pepperoni, Italian sausage, meatballs, green peppers, onions, black olives and mushrooms. It smelled amazing thru the box all the way home. When I got home and opened the box I must say it was LOADED with toppings. Although I never found any "meatballs". Or even half meatballs. But lots of everything else. But it was severely lacking in cheese. I'd guess maybe 1/2 to maybe an ounce of cheese shreds if that much, In about 3 or 4 places plopped on the pizza. The toppings mostly all fell off when you picked up a slice, when you could, it wasn't sliced all the way thru on any cuts, but there was hardly any cheese to hold on those toppings. And They must have used a paint brush to put on the sauce. It was the thinnest Layer of just barely painted on pizza sauce I've ever seen and you could not even taste it. It mostly just appeared to STAIN the crust, and it had no heft or body or texture. Oh, the crust... was like it was made with Bisquick. It was like a flattened biscuit. Crisp on the bottom and fluffy biscuit interior then all the pizza stuff piled on top... my mom used to make them like this when we were kids from bisquick... not the best. Honestly. I appreciate the amount of toppings and it might have been better with more sauce and a LOT MORE CHEESE. But as it was, I'm glad it was half price because this was not worth the menu price of almost $30. Because I have bisquick and all those topping I got at home. Walk up to bar, take a seat, and sat there for 5 minutes with no one addressing me, getting me a water, nothing. Watched waiters walking all around and no one bothered to address me. In fact, when I walked in, the 2 people up front were too busy talking to each other to welcome me in. What's the point of a bar with no bartender? With Cheddars, Logan's, Bubba's, and other restaurants all next door to each other, decided to get my food and drinks elsewhere. read more

Friday night with the fam, and a busy night out in the area. We were lucky to get a table before the rush came in, less than 30 minute wait. Started with my usual drink, brew house blond. There was a mix up with the drink order and I got second one, on the house...win! I order my favorite plate, Parmesan crusted chicken with fresh broccoli and mashed potatoes. The restaurant was packed but It wasn't a long wait for the food. Our food arrived soon after and of course I was not disappointed. The Lightly breaded chicken breasts were delicious. The Garlic mashed potatoes complemented to chicken very well and of course steam broccoli is never a bad choice. Gotta get my greens in lol. You know BJ's has a rather large menus but the food isn't that great. Every time I've gone to this restaurant the food is not only overpriced but completely completely underwhelming to say the least. The food every time has always been over cooked practically charred, and the service sorely lacking. I'm not one to make a big deal over the small things like turn around times and forgetting to refill drinks but it definitely need to be brought out. The food for what they are charging just isn't worth it in my opinion. It's ok, but nothing to write home about. I think next time I decide to play wild card dinner I might pass by this place and go to chilis or something. It had been over 10 years since I'd been to a BJs. Now I remember why I never returned. The menu is nothing special. Typical brew fare. I decided to try something different. Had the kale and Brussel sprouts salad. It was ok. Nothing too special. It looks more unsightly than it tasted. Presentation was sub par. The brusell sprouts tasted a bit bitter. My bf had the Philly cheesesteak and thats the only reason I gave it an extra star. I also had the lemon Rita which was a bit weak. I like my drinks like my men, on the stiff side. Decent place for a meal. They have many options and are open late. In a easily accessible area with much surrounding activity. Bj's Restaurant and Brewhouse is a good place for a meal. They have many options and to my knowledge, they do them well. I shared the appetizers of wings, poke nachos and avacado egg rolls. All of them were very good. They also have a decent drink selection including their own brand of soda. I am normally not a soda drinker but the ones I had, ( orange soda and root beer) were quite good. I had the beer flight which was great. Another great part is that they are open much later than other establishments in the area. So if you are coming from a late shift I was, this place will be open for you. Overall, decent place for a meal. While I think there are better places in the area, you still won't be disappointed! read more

My husband suggested eating here after his amazing meal at a BJ's in McAllen. We arrived and the place was pretty empty & plenty of open seating. This place was really dark & gloomy. We ended up being seated far off to the side on a lower level. Didn't matter to us since we were there for the food not ambiance. Our waitress was super nice but extremely forgetful. Long after placing our meals they arrive, incorrect and cold. My husband's meal that was for a prime rib sandwich was actually a Philly cheesesteak with cold soggy fries. My boneless chicken wings were cold & had very likely been sitting out for quite a while. After waiting on the waitress to reappear we let her know the issue of cold food & incorrectly sandwich. She offered to ask for a remake of the sandwich but the wings she offered to "microwave" them, yup that's correct microwave instead of remake. I walked over to the front to ask for management. A tall gentleman showed up didn't introduce himself also no visible name tag but I told him the issue. I explained to him that our waitress offered to reheat wings & remake sandwich. He looked unfazed and just said "no you can just go". I asked him for a bill for the drinks (water plus tea) and a side salad. We wanted to pay for what we did consume. He again said "no you can just go" he didn't even seem concerned about the service at this restaurant. Not one bit apologetic or anything, just didn't seem to care. My experience was not good. They took very long just to serve us drinks and they took long to serve our food. When we got the food it was cold. My brother got the spaghetti and no joke it was cold like it just came out the fridge, we sent it back and we didn't get it till 20 minutes later. They took long to give my dad his food and when he got his plate it was not his correct plate, we sent it back and we didn't get it till 30 minutes later. What started as a hopeful evening of a few drinks and some good food with my Wife whos birthday we were celebrating and our son and his wife. We knew they would be busy and had reservations for 6pm. This 45 minutes of a pathetic display quickly deteriorated into a complete s*** show. A Swift walk by greeting then 10 min later server came back for the drink order. Which we promptly ordered our appetizers, salads, and Entree orders at the servers rushed request. Since we had than enough time to decide We did so. Then he vanished. We had to ask another server for straws and flatware Since ours happened to be MIA. Salads hit the table 15 min after the order Apps were 5 min later and then 5 minutes after that our 4 entree landed. Following this spectacular start to the seemingly never ending dumpster fire, 3/4's of the Entrees to include 2 orders of the prime rib and an order of Salmon were room temp cold including the veggies for all 3 dishes. The "Au jus" they serve for the prime rib is nothing more than watered down beef broth. But hey if you get the burger that will at least have a semblance of a temperature slightly above someone actually giving a f***. Packed up our food and got the hell out of there knowing that had we sent anything back a scene from the movie "Waiting" was sure to take place. Based upon the service and quality we had seen at that point. Save yourself some cash and just toss in a Hungry man dinner in the microwave at home at the least it will be hot and probably taste better. You have been warned. About 35 minutes later we get our food my daughters kid mac and cheese had no cheese just butter my chicken parm was covered in wilted parsley the only thing good that came out was my wife's pizza. I haven't been to a BJ's in years and my biggest issue with this restaurant chain is the poor take-out service I've experienced many times in the past. Messed up orders, missing items, charged wrong amount, long wait times with no explanation, etc. However, I hadn't been to this particular BJ's before so I decided to give them a try and see if my luck was any better than before. I ordered a couple of large pizzas online on Monday and was a little confused about the "discount applied" message I kept seeing and then I found out that my $16 pizzas are usually $32 any other day of the week. I don't remember BJ's pizzas being that expensive but hey, a 50% discount was better than nothing. (Then I found out you can get 50% off during the rest of the week but you have to manually enter in a promo code) The first pizza was the Great White. I couldn't taste anything but garlic because the pizza was coated in it. I think there was more garlic than anything else, not just by taste but by volume because the other toppings were pretty sparse. The second pizza was the Buffalo Chicken. The pizza was soggy because there were so many different sauces on top. Every time I tried to pick up a piece it would get squishy and fall apart. At least it tasted ok. Whoever cut both pizzas must have struggled with geometry because the cuts were nowhere near even. There were 10 pieces each but 2 or 3 would be half the pizza and the rest were little bite sized strips. That, and the cuts didn't go all the way through so I had to hack the pieces apart with a knife. Would I come back and get something else? Probably not. Looking at the rest of the menu, the prices these days don't justify the quality of the food. read more

It's a beautiful Sunday after leaving service and my wife and I were debating where to go have lunch and decided to come here. We took a booth in the bar area and were promptly attended to. Ordered our drinks and started with the California Club flat bread pizza. When our drinks arrived, my wife ordered the Enlightened Lemon Thyme Chicken and I selected the Brewhouse Blonde Fish & Chips. Our Flatbread pizza arrived and it was delicious . As my wife and I were fighting to get the piece with the large avocado chunks our main entrée showed up. My wife's plate looked delicious minus the Brussel Sprouts, I'm not a fan of those but my plate looked great, especially because I swapped out the fries for sweet potato fries. The fish was yummy as where my fries but I lacked the malt vinegar instead of tartar sauce. We were both full at the end of our meal and unable to order any dessert. Ever since i was a teenager, BJs has always had a special place in my heart. It was one of the family gathering spots for dinner and occassionally lunches. Just their small order of the deep dish pizza is more than enough to share between 2 people. Their selections of toppings has always been impressive and their execution of each is excellent each time. Lets not forget their signature pizookies!!! Man, the first time i had those puppies, i truly didnt think anything can be greater than this creation lol. Even though i can make it at home now, theres just always something special eith their presentation and its setting. Mostly because we have always had outstanding service that treat you like family. So far, ive only been to this location 3 times in the last 3 years but each time has been wonderful. Their spinach cheese dip is always so good, deep dish pizza on point as always, and pizookie as magical as ever. Today though i decided to go on a whim and order their Enlightened Pacific Poke Soba Noodles dish. I was banking on more veggies for a more balanced meal but it was more of a noodle plate which i should have realized. The portion was just ok for a $15 plate. I want to say the ahi tuna justifies the plate somewhat. The flavor profile though overall was bland. Probably why it was the Enlightened option though. Nevertheless, i still love this place. I have learned though to stick to what theyre best known for instead of hoping on their alternative options. It was much healthier though which is what i aimed for. Some people would describe BJ's as a high end Applebee's or Chili's. Me? I'm not so sure. This is actually a tough review for me to write because BJ's has always been one of those places to me that...doesn't quite fit a perfect little slot. Plus, I think it's a bit pretentious to call them "high end" anything. But...let's talk about this in detail, because it's not like this is a bad restaurant or anything. Truth is...it's actually been years since we last visited BJ's. We're fairly certain the menu was given a major overhaul since the last time we visited (which must have been sometime back in 2006 or so). I couldn't even tell you what I ordered back then. But I'm certain it didn't compare to the hand pulled turkey dip, which was freakin' phenomenal, btw! I was impressed by the fact that they used carved turkey rather than thinly sliced turkey. The horseradish was a nice touch, too. Not too overpowering at all. But before I could have the meal, I ordered some clam chowder. The wife also got her favorite: the tortilla soup. Wanna know what these two bowls of soup had in common? Whilst they both tasted good, they were also both unfortunately served lukewarm. My question is: what the hell happened?! It's as if all the soup warmers in the restaurant were broken and they decided to have some kid toss it in the microwave in the back; only they put it in there for 10 seconds instead of 30. I'd have sent it back to get a much warmer portion, but by then...the main course would have already arrived and I wouldn't have wanted any more soup at that point. Such a shame. I was a little surprised to see that the decorum hadn't changed much at all since I last visited this place. Then again, they *are* technically a chain. They have a revolving door out front. I don't think I've seen many restaurants with revolving doors, but okay. Not a deal breaker for me...just...weird. Once again, I have to point out the delayed and dubious service here. Though not outright bad per se, it seems more like...hit or miss. Towards the beginning, the server was alright. But it initially took 10 minutes after seating before we were even acknowledged. And then at one point during the course of the night, it took ages to get refills for our drinks. Not sure why this is such a huge problem. Perhaps they're understaffed, but I wouldn't know. I'm not the manager. Ultimately, the prices for what's served here seem reasonable. I'd recommend BJ's to folks who are looking for gastropub food that's slightly different from the typical neighborhood family restaurants such as the aforementioned at the beginning of this review. Still, I don't feel as if they compare even remotely. I would certainly go back and try one of the burgers or maybe even the fish n' chips. For right now though, I'm giving BJ's 3 lukewarm bowls of clam chowder out of 5. read more

Food-1, service-3, ambiance - dark and moderately busy We came here with friends because the BJs in Salinas, CA has decent gluten-free options. It was a disaster. The waiter didn't even know where the GF menu was. We ordered to different salads, both GF and onion free. Our friends ordered hot meals. Their food arrived before our salads, which arrived packed with onions so we had to send it back. Apparently some picked off the onions on top and sent it back out because the ones below the surface were still there. At this point our friends had finished their meals so we didn't send ours back again. We knew the food had gluten contamination because of the stomach cramps and diarrhea for the rest of the evening.
