This visit was not a planned one. We decided to come here to try to have a hot meal while we were in the area. We have tried the Mission Valley and North County Fair Locations, and hoped that this one was good. When we entered, there was a wait. The hostess took our cell phone number, name, and party size (2). It was a 30min wait to be seated. We also were never texted, but had to go up to the front twice to ask our order in the wait line. They TOTALLY need a Yelp Waitlist or something on Wednesday Nights. We were seated and our server had not come for about 10 mins. We thought that this was odd. Finally, a server asked if we had a server and we said no. He was happy to be our server and we were happy to have him. He did an excellent job taking care of our dining questions, food allergies, and any requests that we had. His name on the ticket was Patrick I but he introduced himself as Isai/Esai. We ordered: The Ribeye medium rare with large baked potato, and a starter house salad, The Enlightened Mediterranean Chicken Bowl with no onions. Also a strawberry lemonade and a water for our drinks. Everything was delicious and came out within 12-15mins. My meal had a small Pizookie (Skillet baked cookie with scoop of ice cream) Sundae come with it. I chose the Salted Caramel one with Caramel drizzle, pretzel pieces baked into the cookie, and they added mini chocolate chips, which was delicious. I wanted the Chocolate Chunk one with fudge drizzled but we were told that they don't do that. So, this dessert choice with the chocolate chips added was delicious too! I've been trying out happy hours lately and this was the latest. Upon arrival we walked into the very crowded host area, partially due to a Padres game being shown. We were told there was a 45 minute wait even though we asked about happy hour which is only in the bar. We ended up just walking into the bar as a table was leaving otherwise there were no seats available. You don't need a reservation in that area. Once seated we were given a regular menu. All of the other tables had happy hour display cards on the table except ours so we had to flag down a server to grab that for us. They were pretty busy so two servers divided their time between us. One of our servers was chatty and pleasant and helped us with our decisions, the other checked in with us regularly but was very busy. We ordered 2 personal pizzas, pot stickers, a margarita and a beer. The pot stickers, tasted good dipped in the sauce. The pizzas, were crispy, cheesy and meaty. The Margarita a little sweet but I wasn't surprised by that. When I had initially looked at the menu on the website, I realized at some point I had signed up for the rewards program. I had a reward for a free pizookie so I redeemed that. We ordered the ice cream to eat there and took the pizookie to go. The cookie stayed warm until I got home and couldn't resist tasting it. It was perfectly crispy and gooey at the same time. I enjoyed it the next day too. This is my 3rd time ever to a BJ's, one in the Bay Area, one in La Jolla and this one. Called to put our names on the list for ahed of time seating once arrived, the young lady who answered was rude and when I asked to please explain what that actually did for our party she said " it's not that hard, you show up and wait just like everyone else and when your seat is ready you will be called" Umm ok? thanks for nothing she seemend annoyed on the phone and if she is the host she needs to get better training from managment. We arrived and waited about 15 mins to be seated, it was packed and the server took our order. we waited almost an hour to get 1 large pizza ( un cut cold in middle ) and 1 chicken parm and spaghetti dinner.the pasta was ice cold. chicken over cooked and chewy. we were starving at this point so made due. but for $85 not including tip we would of liked at least hot food. My husband and I came in Friday around 6pm and were able to find seating pretty quickly in the bar (which is open seating) we had Patrick as our server tonight which was an absolute pleasure. He went above and beyond. My husband really wanted the pork chop meal deal (which they had run out of) but Patrick took it upon himself to rush to the back to double check and low and behold they had one more left! We were thrilled. I got the bbq chicken pizza which was good but was sad to see they don't have the buffalo chicken pizza anymore. We also got the boneless wings with honey buffalo and the spicy Asian sauces ( both very flavorful) and then of course I HAD to have a Pazooki so I tried their newest addition the biscoff and it did not disappoint. Stopped by for a quick lunch and to try the $13 at this location . The bar is so cool and welcoming . Dominic was bartender and he was helpful. It wasn't too busy so the bar patrons were all friendly and gave me suggestions . Dom also introduced me to staff who was being trained by the GM ! I had the bottomless soup and salad . They were nice enough to do it without arugula . The clam chowder was hot and comforting . I got the off menu side of ahi bites for $6.99 as the patron next to me suggested it . It's a small portion of ahi pieces served with wasabi and soy . Not too bad and a good protein compliment for the price . Dom chose my pizookie which he said was a fan favorite . You can't go wrong with BJ's...everything is delicious! I'm not the only one who thinks so...the proof is in the packed brewhouse when I'm there and not there basically. It all started with their signature deep dish pizzas that made them famous then their Pizookie deserts that made them famous then their expansive menu... do I need to say more. I was hooked! This location does have its hands full but the staff handle it really well. They're still super friendly despite the busyness and able to stay on point in terms of service. BJ's used to be "the spot" I remember practically being at a BJ's nearly every weekend... this was my first time at this location and my first time back to BJ's in years. While I had so many fond memories I was not prepared for how mediocre the food truly is. Everything tasted like frozen food warmed up. We came on a Sunday around 7 and waited 25 minutes to be seated. Once seated our service was slow. We waited a long time for our food and for our waitress to return to provide additional sauces etc. We got a variety of items but I can't believe the prices! Unlike the activity by the same name, this bj's left me very unsatisfied. The only thing they have in common is leaving a bad taste in your mouth. The margaritas, which came shortly after finishing the entire dinner, were not meant for human consumption. Their flavors fell somewhere between ball sweat on a moldy dishrag, the air in a target bathroom and watered down peptobismal. The best part of our meal was the spoons that came with our dessert. We went to BJs on Wednesday and our visit was underwhelming. None of the staff seemed happy without even as much as a smile which created a tense and less than welcoming atmosphere. The chicken in the Mediterranean salad wasn't fresh. Strawberries in the dessert were small and mostly syrupy like they had previously been frozen. Been going to this establishment continuously for the past couple of years and attending their beer dinners and we have highly recommended this place to all our friends and family. Almost all the employees we've encountered have been absolutely amazing where it feels like family. Service still not all that great, food can be hit or miss. Avocado eggrolls are a little bland but the sauce brings it together. Brussel sprouts are more soft than crispy. Fried pickle fries were surprisingly delicious. Wedge salad wasn't terrible, I was expecting it to be a little sour since the lettuce was spotty and brown. The server said they only cook the steak to medium or more so I wasn't able to get my medium rare but they cooked it to a true medium. Baked potato could use some presalting before baking. Macadamia nut pizookie was fantastic. Was a little turned off when we were walking in and a server with long dark hair in a braid was hanging out by the host stand just looked at us and turned around to walk away... even if she wasn't able to help us she could have at least told us that the host will be with us shortly or something. It is my sister's birthday and we wanted to celebrate here because Pazookies are her favorite... To be sooooo real if i could give -1 star rating i definitely would lol. I would say it was slow service but we had no service at all. Toilet paper coming out of the bathrooms. yuck. We go to get sat at our table and it's filthy, we ask to get it cleaned and they move us to another dirty booth. We are not ones to complain but we got sent to the front to wait for a booth to be cleaned so we waited just to get told to sit at another booth and it was dirty. At this point we almost left because it's just getting ridiculous at this point but we still waited for yet ANOTHER booth. Also not to mention when we asked why are they all dirty the hosts says "it's not standard for our bussers to clean" lol yea ok. we finally get sat at a clean booth just to never be greeted by our server. About 6 more parties came and no one was seated, telling us they are waiting for the dinner wait staff to set up. The older lady rudely told an older gentleman he should have made a reservation (it was empty) and another man accidentally put the wrong party number and instead of trying to work with him she told him it's wrong and to make a new ticket. After 25 minutes of waiting and seeing that they sat the party that came before us first, we left. She clearly did not write down our information and put us on the list. Worst location or service ever. Does not live up to BJs in other states. We've come to this location a handful of times and we've put up with the bad service but today we couldn't even get seated. Nice location, near the ocean, right off the 5 freeway and palomar airport road. Parking can be a pain since it is not that big, and there are several other businesses and people fighting for spots. The menu is expansive, so many choices of food and drink. I have been there numerous times and eaten many of the choices. 1 of my favorites is the deep dish pizza. It is a good pizza especially considering this is not a pizza place. My main gripe is that the prices are expensive and $40 for a pizza is pretty outrageous, but it is good. This last time I had no problem with my order that was called in a head of time and ready when promised. In the past I have gone to pickup and they gave us the wrong items, or did not give us all the items, and then they gave us attitude when it was pointed out and we asked them to fix it. read more

We ordered the spinach artichoke dip for our starter. It came out extremely hot. The cheese topper may have been overdone, but the overall dip and chips was fresh. For the main entrees, we ordered: 1. Smothered steak and fries. (Delicious) prepared with mushroom sauce and a chimichurri sauce on the side; cooked medium rare. 2. Saturday special - prime rib with creamy horseradish. Comes with soup or salad, two sides, and a pazookie. I chose the wedge salad, asparagus, and garlic mashed potatoes. (GOOD!) I only ate half and took the rest home. 3. Burger combo - full loaded and juicy medium rare. Our server Joy was very helpful. She accommodated my daughter's birthday request to mix and match our pazookies into a sampler so we could try different flavors. I also tried the peach boba margarita and it was delicious. I will start this by saying we went in on a late Monday night. We came in and got sat right away in one of the large booths. Our first server was a woman but after getting our drinks she disappeared. The other server in her section started helping us. We asked for lemons a few times before we got them. I had the Strawberry fields Salad with chicken. Nothing special about it but good enough to fill me up and fuel me after an eight hour drive from the bay. My husband had his usual BBQ chicken pizza with no onions. He loves this pizza no matter the location. My MIL got the surf and turf stack and that's when things went wrong. For $37+ she got the saltiest steak I've ever tasted. I thought maybe it was her taste buds but when I had it it almost ruined my appetite. We sent it back (only the steak) and asked for it medium well so it took a while to get back. At that point we still had not seen our server so I asked for a manager. When we finally got the manager he was on his way out with a whole new plate of the surf and turf shrimp and everything. When he talk to me he explained that his server had gone on break but forgot to tell us the other server was taking over. At the end of the day I appreciate the manager replacing the whole meal and apologizing for his servers miscommunication. After a long day at Legoland decided it would be super easy to just order a pizza at BJs for the kids. They are super picky and figured you can't mess up pizza. Well I was very wrong. This pizza was super dry and as you can see burnt. I am pretty sure they forgot the pizza sauce or ran out. What is going on at this place?! I sent in an order for delivery at 5:52pm and the order said it would be ready at 10:00pm. What?!!! We called in to check to see if that was correct. We were hung up on after a long wait. We called again and asked for the manager. After another long wait the person said they couldn't find the manager and that there was a situation going on where the police were present. I told them okay I will have to cancel my order, but didn't realize that I couldn't cancel it online, the restaurant has to do it. So my husband called, was treated rudely and was hung up on. I've never, ever had such issues with a restaurant before. I don't know why the police were there or why they couldn't find a manager. I would think the manager would be the one talking to the police. The whole situation didn't make sense. Why would it take until 10pm to make a pizza? I just don't understand. Do not go here.
