The prep person apologized, but what good was that? After my initial exam, I waited another 20 minutes for the optometrist. I was there to get contact lenses. I was told that I would have to make another appointment for that? Never mind. The office was pleasant, but I'm not gonna go through this again, another appointment? to be fitted for contacts? Very poorly run office. I certainly wouldn't recommend it. I will go to Family Vision instead. I don't wait for over an hour and have to come back for my fitting. They do it all at once.

I could wait for another one but nobody could say when. I had to get back to work. The receptionist gave me an appointment at an office half an hour away, over a month out. The doctor came in and rushed through a few questions. As she walking out the door, I asked her if my prescription for close up had changed. She looked at me quizzically. "You wear bifocals? Uh-oh, wait a minute." She had no idea. Then she left quickly. As my eyes were dilated and it was a very sunny day, I was blind on the road. I went about half a mile and gave up, turned the car around and went back to the office to wait until my eyes went back to normal. I asked at the desk why they don't have those temporary sunglasses that real optometrists have. They did have them, but they just weren't offering them to patients. When I got home I looked at my prescription; it is useless, obviously wrong, printed incorrectly. Every single interaction I had was sloppily mishandled, a chain of incompetence culminating in a giant waste of time, money and energy. Nielsen Eye Center has no patient survey to fill out after your visit, no follow-up, no method for feedback at all. I can't contact my "doctor". Patients are the very last priority for this arrogant, money-grubbing machine. It's been almost six months since I started dealing with this clown show, and I still have no prescription, my eyes have only worsened.

Waited months to get in for a worrisome mole (not just looks worrisome but symptoms are worrisome…read moretoo) by my eye to get looked at. Called and made the appointment, all my info was taken down and I put the visit in my calendar. When I arrived, they could even find me in the system... now they want me to wait another few months. When they made an error, why do I have to be the one to suffer? They obviously don't treat their patients concerns and schedules with respect and hopefully I don't end up with advancing disease because of their horrible treatment.

The prescription they gave me was wrong and the glasses I had made were unwearable. Thank goodness Costco replaced them with the correct prescription AFTER MY SECOND VISIT where they apologized for the mistake. They had many seniors waiting in the waiting room, so I think they do a fair amount of Medicare business ? It is a real run-them-thru assembly line of patients. AND my visit(s) cost over $400. If you dare go here make sure they are 100% in your network. I wish I had gone to Lenscrafter like my wife did where she was very pleased with the process. AVOID !

My former eye doc was just so disrespectful of my time, I wouldn't deal with them any more. I found Neilsen right by South Shore Medical Center on Longwater Drive, and what a pleasant surprise! A welcoming staff member at the front, snacks and beverages in the comfortable waiting area, and from the size of that waiting area I could tell right off that it wouldn't be a crowd scene here. The technician who started my appointment was professional, friendly and answered all questions. That was a thorough eye exam! Dr. Moreira was also very professional pared with a friendly manner that I totally appreciated. No hard sell of any products or procedures, just this is what I see happening with your eyes, this is what you'll need when you're ready, let me know what you want to do and when. There's an optical area in the office, but again, no had sell of eyeglasses- your new script goes out the door when you leave. All in all, I had a great customer service experience and A+++ patient care. Take care of your eyes so you can navigate this world! Nielsen will do that for you easily and reassuringly.
