A weekend happy hour! This was cute spot but it fills up quickly. We were able to snag a few chairs to add to our table. A nice spot for a catchup and kickback with a group. Just get there early before the seats are all gone! I didn't have food but my friend did and she said the shrimp and chicken tacos were phenomenal.

Updated Review: This place really impressed me at first; I even celebrated my birthday here two years ago and it was my last best experience. That might've been around the time things started to change. Since then, the food quality has noticeably dropped and I ordered the same dishes each time, so the difference is clear. The overall vibe is bland or only meant for some to acquire. I gave it a few tries before deciding this, so it's not based on one off night. We also came for a live singing performance, and unfortunately, that too lacked spark. Staff turnover seems high as well, which makes it hard to build any kind of connection with the team, no familiar faces over time. I think I've had my run here.

Nice chill out spot to hang out at. I came to BIXI to celebrate my cousin cici birthday party. The staff was great and I haven't been in harlem in a minute. It's always good to see and spend time with family. The drinks are very good and the food was decent. While the salmon was cooked well and tasted good. However the rice and broccoli was kind of cold, they did reheat it for me, still Luke warm but the flavor was their. Overall we had a nice time and was treated very well. A place worth checking out especially for happy hour.

Bixi Harlem is hands down one of my favorite spots in the city! The ambiance is stylish yet welcoming, making it perfect for a night out with friends or a cozy date night. The real star of the show, though, is their lychee martini--easily the best in NYC. It's perfectly balanced, not too sweet, and always made with fresh ingredients. I love to switch it up and get tequila instead of vodka and it's a hit every time. Beyond the cocktails, the service is always top-tier, and the food menu never disappoints. Alex and JB are my usuals but everyone that works there is great. It feels a home away from home. I always grab a seat at the bar but they have a lovely back room and enclosed front/back patio. Lastly their happy hour can't be beat! $10 lychee martinis (and tons of other food/drink deals) until 8pm ever day!

I recently celebrated my birthday at Bixi Harlem with seven close friends on a snowy evening in January, and it was--for the second year in a row--an absolute standout experience. Bixi has an inviting, intimate atmosphere that reminds me of a modern French bistro. The kind of place where you could envision the likes of Langston Hughes sitting in the back, having a simple bite to eat, while sipping on a whisky sour as friends stop by his table for a quick chat. The true magic of Bixi lies in the team. The proprietor, Susannah, and the manager, Yama, are a powerhouse duo. They made planning this dinner effortless and communicated regularly about every aspect from the menu to the pricing tiers. Their flexibility and personal touches were greatly appreciated. As for the food, their Asian fusion offerings are consistently delicious where every dish felt very thoughtfully executed and the drinks were the perfect accompaniment to a celebratory meal.The vibe switches after 10:00 p.m. on a Saturday night with DJs who play a little something for every generation.

We Love Bixi!!!!! The food is exceptional and the ambiance is both warm and chic. We do miss seeing our favorite server Ali, but the rest of the team is usually attentive and professional, Ali would go above and beyond to make sure we always had what we needed ( and our bottomless mimosas were truly bottomless at Bixi) As I said in my prior review of Bixi, do NOT go here without getting At LEAST one order of the chicken katsu sliders. Perfection. My description won't do them justice, look at the photos below! we have also had bixi's various salads, salmon and other sides and apps. Not once have we tried a dish here that we did not enjoy. Brunch is also a great choice at Bixi in addition to dinner. If you dine here on your birthday or other special occasion, you should expect a tasty free dessert! ( ymmv, my experience twice)

After reflecting upon my experience with a recent visit to Bixi, I decided I could only give this place 1 star. Let me set the scene! I was in Harlem and strolled into The Carla Gibson Block Party and boy was it a time. There was a lovely crowd of people who were all talking, laughing, singing, and dancing. It was such a vibe! I enjoyed the variety of entertainment and the headliner Carla Gibson whose performance was hands down my fave! I see why it's her block party and why the crowd was there, then I noticed that Bixi was the sponsoring the event. Upon realizing this, I decided to order some food and drinks from their outdoor setup which included a bar stand and podium to take and provide orders. Each to go meal was about $14. I paid and then went inside yo use the restroom which does not close all the way, so you can see into what's supposed to be a space for privacy. Overall it was pretty decent but could have been cleaner. While in the establishment, I was not greeted and some staff appeared annoyed. I brushed it off but felt this would impact the food and boy was I right. When I received my orders I was shocked and disgusted by the miniature portion - like did I order a kids meal? I told myself maybe the flavor will make up for the portion size and I was far from correct. The shrimp was fried so hard that it ate like overdone chicken. Not to mention it wasn't even cleaned properly, it was not well seasoned, and extremely greasy. I tried a French fry because who can mess up fries ... Bixi can. They were WAY too salty and absorbed so much oil that it would drip if you squeezed it. I tried to lift my spirits with some spirits (lol) at the bar where I was reluctantly greeted by another bothered staff member. When I asked which of the signature drinks she suggested, she seemed unimpressed with each one. I settled with a margarita because, who can mess up a class marg ... say it with me ... Bixi can. The marg was absolutely disgusting and what added insult to injury was when the first card wasn't reading, the girl at the bar said, "Do you have another card because it's not reading. It's not me it's you." WHO TALKS TO CUSTOMERS LIKE THIS AND WHY AM I SPENDING MONEY HERE IF YOU DON'T HAVE BASIC CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS!? The overall experience with Bixi was so negative and unsatisfying to say the least, but the saving grace was enjoying the vibes of the Carla Gibson Block Party and connecting with so many nice patrons. I heard her announce that she does weekly shows on Thursdays so I'd likely go just to enjoy her anointed talent, but I'll make sure to eat and drink beforehand. If you haven't already figured it out, the one star is for the block party, not Bixi.

Great brunch spot, ambience food and service. The place is cozy and great for every type of event. I had so much fun here the drinks are delicious and strong. Bixi is small gem in Harlem. The bar/restaurant is small but very cozy. The bartender JB is friendly and accommodating. We went to check out the Happy Hour and we loved our cocktail which were Pale Rider (he made it extra spicy for us) and Martini Lychee (not too sweet... just a perfect sweetness). The food was ok, waffle fries, slider, chicken wings ( so far the chicken wings were the winner, the lemongrass sauce is ).

Not so Happy Hour! My friends and I chose Bixi for our monthly happy hour date. I did all of my usual research... check Yelp for reviews, visit the IG of the business for special events, scope their website for menus and happy hour selections. I did this on a Tuesday for a Thursday meetup set at 5:30pm. My friend arrives before I do then texts me saying it's packed inside and she's waiting to be greeted by someone. She's never greeted and decides to make her way to the bar. The bartender then explains that they're closed for a private event. There wasn't any signage anywhere stating this, no posts on their social media, no statement on their website. A total waste of our time making our way to the establishment. Also had there been a hostess greeting people my friend would've never made it to the bar, sat down, almost ordered a drink to then essentially be sent away.

I absolutely love this place ! It's CAYUTE and it's an intimate vibe . You can have a date night or Happy Hour with your girls . I enjoy their Happy Hour with their champagne and $3 tacos , chileeeee . The service is Friendly and hospitable . Great staff and bartender . It's a cozy atmosphere for the ambiance . This is definitely a " hidden" black owned establishment in Harlem . Each time I visited , I have great convo with new strangers . This is my " mid week" Happy Hour Spot !

this place was AMAZING! i love a good cocktail bar and not only were the cocktails good, but the food was even better! i went for the happy hour and got the spicy udon and ribeye wontons, and they were amazing!!! i asked for medium for the spicy udon and it was definitely spicy. also mondays are bogo martinis hehe. i had a nice little solo dinner with myself and an audiobook and had an amazing time !! read more

Bixi is the perfect spot to unwind for a good drink after a long day at work. This small bar is full of so much character and the staff there is super nice and efficient. The drinks are delicious and the tapas are so tasty. I would definitely say the portion sizes for the food items were a bit smaller than I would've thought but nonetheless still great options. I got a hullabaloo to drink and we had the short rib wontons and sliders as snacks. Overall it was a great experience and we will definitely be back. read more

I loved the vibe in this place and the music selection was a huge part of it. Super chill and great service. I had the garlic chicken tacos but they were under cooked which is why they lost a star on this review. The Pale Rider cocktail was delicious so I had two of those while spending some quality time with good friends. I came here recently for brunch and it was a pretty good experience. My group sat outside, which was great for covid precautions but can get chilly if it's cold outside. I ordered the salmon eggs benedict, which was tasty and the eggs well-cooked, but the salad could have been larger. The pineapple upside down cake was delicious! In the annals of words you never want to hear, one of them is "Asian fusion" (shudder). So it was with much trepidation that I came to Bixi and boy, did it prove me wrong! The food was tasty and hearty but not in a way that make you feel like throwing up afterwards (you know what I'm talking about). In fact, it's been a long time since I've had such an excellent all-around meal from apps to dessert. We got: Japanese yam tempura Bahn Mi Restaurant Wk menu: short rib sliders, tandoori chicken, tempura bananas It was a mouthgasm. There's a rather interesting, sophisticated alchemy happening in the kitchen. Also, the place was just vibing with a great retro playlist. You've been at a food truck or noshed at some bar in an Asian neighborhood and eaten some glorious snack that later you can't remember the name of, right? That's what is on the menu at BiXi. Chef Serena Bass (of Lido two doors down) has turned her attention to bar food inspired by the Asian diaspora: bao, ban mi, katsu, cold noodles, tempura, summer rolls, won tons, pot stickers, tandoori chicken, etc. BiXi isn't a place for Asians to cure being homesick, creative nods to Ms. Bass' culinary ancestry are noted. The ban mi is on bread closer to focaccia than baguette, katsu should be served more often as sliders as they are here. Asian food lovers won't be insulted. The menu respects it's inspirations and the kitchen has been schooled. The cocktail menu gets as much attention as the food menu. There is no well liquor at BiXi. If you want Old Grand Dad I think they have that across the street at that loud Applebee's clone on the corner. At BiXi you find artisanal mezcals, tequiilas, gins, world whiskeys, and vodkas mixed with yuzu lemonade, thai peppers, brandied fruits, and tropical fruits. No drink umbrellas, though. BiXi gives this neighborhood something it hasn't had since Jado Sushi closed years ago (about three blocks downtown): a good Asian dine-in spot with food meant to be paired with adult beverages. As others have noted, this is a lounge first and foremost, a place for people in the neighborhood to live their social lives. The decor is comfy and warm, very aware of it's Harlem locale. Rich and warm colors greet you in every direction. It gets four stars instead of five because there's work to be done to refine the space and the menu. BiXi is a new restaurant operated by highly experienced and successful restaurateurs, to be sure, but it still needs to get its feet under it here and there. It will get better and I want to be able to give it another star later on! BiXi is cozy, dark, a little sexy when it wants to be, just like the people you'll meet there. Visit soon. read more

I did like this restaurant. The owner was delightful and super accommodating. The staff was very, very friendly. I enjoyed my food! (Try the pepper jack biscuit!) It's a smaller place, not as spacious as their sister restaurant Lido (which I LOVE) a few doors down. My only issue with this restaurant during my visit was, they have a policy of giving a last pour of bottomless mimosa at 3:30 and it's well documented on their menu. However, our server proceeded to pour my last and informed me as much, but 20 minutes later gave the party next to mine 2 more carafes after their "last" one at 3:30. All customers should be treated equally. That being said, it's good practice to go on the earlier side of brunch at any restaurant because it starts getting weird after a certain time with shift changes and things like what I just encountered. So, I take responsibility for getting there a little later than I'd anticipated. All in all, I'd go back! Delightful ownership! read more

The vibe is instantly felt as soon as you walk in the door. I went on a Saturday night and the DJ definitely took us through a music time travel. My crew and I belted our hearts out to Lisa Stansfield Been Around the world and two stepped to current tunes. The rum punch was my drink of choice for the night 2 thumbs up. Yo!!!! Bixi is my JAM!!!! Friendly staff, delicious food, sick drinks, and cute AF decor! What you waiting on?! Personally I'm waiting on Martini Mondays where the lychee Martini is just calling my name. The only aside is that I wish they had more veg/seafood options. Great addition to the neighborhood! They have heated outdoor accommodations- heat lamps and a fire pit in the back patio and three individual and heated dining pods in front. Although indoor dining is not currently available due to COVID, the decor and layout was beautiful when passing through to see the backyard. All of the servers were very pleasant and attentive. The cocktails and drinks were detail oriented and incredibly delicious. We ordered several small plates and the standouts were the udon noodles with chili shrimp, tandoori chicken and the pork belly bahn mi. Reasonably priced for the top tier food that you receive. read more

I must say it was quite an experience. Something I've never seen in my 53 years of life. If I could leave NO STARS I would. My daughter and I purchased tickets for an event on 2/27/24 (which included a complimentary drink). We arrive and they seat us in the back. We were impressed with the ambiance and the music. The host was personable. Took our drink and food order. We ordered a few small plates to share because everything sounded so good. While waiting we noticed that the tables were sticky, unstable and the top of the material on the stools were nasty and broken. But that's not the worse of it. The server brings what looked like was our order. We had ordered some wings, Bao buns, and pork belly fried rice. We received 3 wings, a small bowl of plain fried rice and 3 tacos. We were a little confused but proceeded to grab a wing and check the tacos. The server comes back, states that he had brought the incorrect order and that now had the correct order. He drops off 2 wings on our plate. Takes the bowl that had half of the fried rice, and takes the tacos and puts down the BAO buns. This is where it gets crazy...He takes my fork and motions that he's going to take some of the fried rice to fill up the half full bowl of plain fried rice to give to the correct customer. I was just shocked. I literally asked him what are you doing? I had to say it again before it dawned on him that maybe he should stop. He then proceeded to take the tacos to the other customer. I have never encountered something like this. I will never ever go back there again. I do not recommend this place to anyone. I was disgusted. read more

This review is based on the experiences and encounters of former and current customers of Bixi Bar/Restaurant, residing in and outside of Harlem. There are practices and patterns of Bixi staff making unauthorized charges on credit and debit cards, instituting absurd gratuity charges without the knowledge its customers, and refusing to serve customers , particularly those who complain about unprofessional service and treatment .This restaurant is owned by Susannah Koteen , who also owns the Fox and Lidos. Numerous customers residing in the Harlem community currently complain about the high prices and discriminatory treatment of customers. Don't let the smiles fool you, the service and attitudes of Bixi staff is a clear reflection of its owner. Other customers experiencing these issues are encouraged to post reviews. read more

Passed by it a few times so I ordered on Uber eats since I had a promo for the B1G1 on Short Rib Fried Wontons with Scallions and XG Mustard Sauce. They arrived timely & were still crispy. Not a fan of the mustard sauce perhaps a Thai chili or plum sauce would be better but the short rib wontons were decent perhaps marinating the meat or sprinkling w/a little more garlic, salt & pepper to boost the flavor profile . Chicken wings with aioli were flavorful but I prefer my wings fried with a harder crisp & separated instead of whole.HTH read more

Bixi is an interesting spot. The decor in the back area is nice and the vibes seem to range from chill to turnt up. I stopped by on a rather busy Sunday night. The bar was definitely busy as it took a while to get both my and my date's drinks even though we ordered them at separate times. There was also an automatic 20% gratuity charge on our bill at the end of the night, which I found rather gratuitous, if you will, but we are still in a pandemic, so I understand. With that considered, I do wish the food would've been slightly better. The wings were ok. I was surprised that they come as whole wings and not separated which makes it a little difficult to share. The sliders were good but nothing spectacular. Overall, I did like that even though the back space was populated through much of the night, I never felt like it was too crowded or closed in. The music that was playing throughout the night was also on point. I'd recommend Bixi for a chill meet up with friends or a lowkey date night. read more

I went to this place for the first time last night. Overall I enjoyed it. The atmosphere was very cute, I would definitely recommend for a date or dinner with friends. Service was good also. The appetizers we had were pork potstickers, spring rolls and the beef sliders. All very good and shareable. I took off a star for the medium plates. My friend had the steak and didn't enjoy it much and for the price it was a bit pricey given only steak and green beans were included. I got the lamb ribs and was very disappointed. While flavor was good my lamb was like 75% fat which I hate. I would give this place another go but would definitely not have the lamb ribs again. read more

Was searching for a quick bite in Asian cuisine and came across the little nook of a restaurant. Totally surprised and blown away at how good this place is - service was friendly and the staff were attentive. Food was delicious - I ordered the fried duck spring rolls and short rib sliders to start. Duck was good - the portions could've been bigger though. The sliders were very good - good portion, full of flavor and not excessive seasoning. For dinner, I ordered the Tandoori chicken and that was a hit! The coconut rice was delicious and moist and I paired it with some Brussel sprouts. The chicken has a mango and peanut sauce that was very good. All the food tasted so fresh and you can tell they choose quality ingredients. To top it off, I ordered the upside down pineapple cake with coconut gelato . The pineapple cake paired with very fresh gelato (you could taste/feel the coconut shavings) was perfect. Portion size was on point too, not too large and not too small. Went on a Saturday early evening. A bit disorganized and the space is already pretty cramped. We were finally seated out back in the patio and left after 10 minutes because of HUGE rats. No one bothered to accommodate us inside so we left. Wanted to like but I am never going back. read more

My favorite restaurant that I've tried in Harlem so far. The food, the drinks, the service, and the vibe were all on point!! I would recommend the chicken katsu sliders, flank steak, and tempura bananas. The Voodoo cocktail was also very delicious. 10/10 would recommend. read more

We ordered take out due to COVID, so we weren't expecting tapas sized plates when we got home. However!!! The food was delicious. The yams and picked ginger sauce was good. The tandoori and coconut rice was reallyyyy good! The flavors are so complex and rich! They work together so well in each bite! We also got the crab and corn cakes. I wish there was more crab but it was very tasty! I'll definitely be back to try the wings and the chicken sandwich :) read more

Super disappointed in this establishment. A friend of mine called and made a reservation for 6 over the phone a day prior. When I arrived early for the anticipated 7pm reservation the hostess expressed they didn't have a reservation under my friends name. The hostess offered to put in a new reservation for 8pm and took my number. There was no space outside the bar for me to wait with my 7year old and waited in the outside seating area in the cold for over an hour. When I returned the hostess expressed she didn't not have the 8pm reservation available and wouldn't have anything available for at least another 45 minutes. She then went on to say she never actually put in a reservation for 8pm. I couldn't take it anymore and took my child and friends over to BLVD who was more than accommodating to us, and sat us immediately. Completely turned off by Bixi. read more

Bixi has recently opened, and is simply great. And being 2 blocks from my house, what could be better? Entering, it seems like a quaint old bar, but really it's all brand new - well done! I choose to eat in the rear patio - there were tables out front, but the sun was brutal and I needed a bit of shade. There was an option to eat inside as well that held promise in the future. My waiter was professional, personable and prompt, and the food ... The mixed green salad was superb, beyond the usual vegetables were small slices of jalapeño! What a brilliant, albeit subtle but incredibly effective tweak! I got 2 medium plates; the basmati rice with leeks, ginger, garlic, and kaffir lime, and again, taken up a notch ny a fried egg covered with hot sauce. Have I mentioned I like spicy and hot? The cold noodle and ginger peanut sauce was excellent as well, a classic done in a timeless manner. I learned that it is associated with the nearby Lido, another of my local favorites - no wonder things were done at such a high level.
