Well today I was in Beautiful Carmel California and I stopped into Bixbys Barbering Co. Was welcomed in the moment I stepped through the door, not only by the Barber/Owner Rachel but also the ambiance and atmosphere of a true barbershop! The sight of vintage barber chairs shiny and chrome and nostalgia everywhere! I knew I was in for a treat. "Thirsty? Would you like a water? Or a beer?" They asked. Your very well taken care of at this establishment. To top it all off Rachels's skills and talent of a true Barber surpass all. Hot and cooled towels are at the ready, the things that are normally missing in some Barbershops today are definitely not missing here. I accompanied my husband as he went in for a much needed haircut. We got lucky and Rachel was able to take him right away without an appointment. He's very particular about his hair, which is perfect because Rachel is a true professional and perfectionist. He was thrilled with the results (and so am I). Normally I would not be one to leave reviews about a haircut my husband received, but having waited with him I was able to witness first hand the care that was put into this new business. Her barbers chairs are lovingly restored vintage finds. Her barbers station as well. The space itself is bright and open, and she has a fridge stocked with beer for clients (and their waiting wives). Growing up in Carmel, I always thought that we could use a great barber to serve the community. While wine tasting with a good friend of mine we stumbled upon this relatively new place. Rachel was friendly and walked the fine line between the professionalism of a business and the comfort of you're local barber perfectly. I had a hair cut and shave and I can safely say she is currently the best barber on the peninsula. I have frequented the other local barber shops but none of them have been as clean, friendly, and relaxing as Bixby. I highly recommend this place for your next haircut and/or shave. I got my haircut there today for the first time and from the second you walk in, it's like a step back in time to an old school barber shop. Everything from the retro chairs, barber poles and pictures on the wall to the tools Rachel uses to cut your hair and offers you drinks before your cut. This is an awesome shop and Rachel is very easy going and grateful for the business she gets while truly seeming to enjoy her work. What a darling little spot! Very pretty inside, great vibe. The attention to detail from the chairs to the stations really goes a long way. Also, Rachel is great with our 6 year old. Our son went in for a hair cut and he loved his experience. She's very careful and communicates each step. Not only did he look fantastic, but he got his first official neck shave with a razor - which was a photo worthy moment - and upon leaving he got to choose a hot wheels which of course made his day!
