Haircut took roughly 30 minutes with several other customers waiting behind me. 2) Barber shop opened 20 minutes late despite an employee being clearly visible inside with the front door locked. 3) Myself and several customers waited while the only barber present was in the back room eating within one hour of the shop opening. Given that the Monterey area has a lack of military barber shops, I still recommend going to the NSAM Monterey Barber only in extremis. Both regular barbers tend to default to a "high and tight," despite instructions given and the fact that the shop is closed on weekends is enough to make me drive to the extra 15 minutes to the POM to get a haircut.

Not that I'd trade more time for a better cut, but if you want a professional cut, head to a barber out in town. In the end, this establishment will satisfy most customers needs given the clientele.
