Craig took care of me, and I can honestly say this was one of the best barber experiences I've ever had. I brought my 18-month-old daughter with me, and Craig was incredibly patient, welcoming, and kind. He made sure we were comfortable, offered my daughter snacks and drinks, and treated us like family from the moment we walked in. It's rare to find someone who genuinely cares about their customers the way he does. On top of that, the haircut was outstanding. His attention to detail was second to none, and he gave me one of the best cuts I've had in years. You can tell he takes real pride in his craft and truly enjoys what he does. If you're looking for an amazing barber in Monterey, look no further. Whether you're a local or just visiting like I was, I can't recommend Craig enough. Great haircut, exceptional customer service, and an even better person. I'll definitely be back the next time my family and I are in Monterey!

This Barber Shop is unsatisfactory due to the poor customer service. Below is a synopsis of the…read morelast few times that I patronized this establishment. 1) Barber was completely fixated on a soccer game on the TV. Haircut took roughly 30 minutes with several other customers waiting behind me. 2) Barber shop opened 20 minutes late despite an employee being clearly visible inside with the front door locked. 3) Myself and several customers waited while the only barber present was in the back room eating within one hour of the shop opening. Given that the Monterey area has a lack of military barber shops, I still recommend going to the NSAM Monterey Barber only in extremis. Both regular barbers tend to default to a "high and tight," despite instructions given and the fact that the shop is closed on weekends is enough to make me drive to the extra 15 minutes to the POM to get a haircut.

The barber shop is typically understaffed during rushes on Monday and Tuesday's which cause wait times of an hour or more. The $8.50 military haircut is not a bargain given the basic nature of the cuts. Quality is typically poor to average and not consistent, as the adage goes, "a bad haircut only lasts a week in the military." Not that I'd trade more time for a better cut, but if you want a professional cut, head to a barber out in town. In the end, this establishment will satisfy most customers needs given the clientele.
