Cat Care Clinic

I'm torn... The vets are great. They always get you in, even on short notice. However, they…read morerecommend bringing in your cats for two checkups per year and they rip you off every chance. It seems like they are only in it for the money. After I told several people that they estimated $1,800 for my cat's canine tooth extraction and none of them had ever paid that much when they had their cats' teeth taken out, I asked other vets for quotes. All other quotes I received were only a third of what CCC estimated. Don't even ask me how much money I already left there for other things. I guess, if you're rich and don't mind getting ripped off, it's a great place and they take good care of your cats.

I've only been coming to CCC since April but have been greatly impressed with the staff and level…read moreof care. One of my new kittens declined very quickly over a weekend and was diagnosed with FIP. Having to euthanize her was one of the hardest decisions I've ever had to make, but Dr. Parks and the staff showed so much love and kindness to us both during the process. I'm very grateful they were there to make sure it was as painless as possible. The staff has also been great in monitoring my other kitten, their exams are thorough and they explain everything that is happening in a clear and concise manner. I've always felt well informed about my kitten's health and been presented with all the best options. CCC is not a cheap place for vet care, but it's the best you can get if you have a kitty. If you want top of the line care for cats this is the place!

Ruffin'It Resort - Pack Leader Brittanie and Little Bear enjoy a cuddle in the Ambassador Suite

Our dog was attending Ruffin it for about a month, 3x a week. He passed his trial days and it…read moreseemed like everything was going well at the start. The last few times we took him to be dropped off he would stop in the doorway and not want to go inside, note that he has always LOVED daycare at his previous daycares. In the past he would try to sprint into the door to get inside, definitely not be hesitant. I can't say if something changed in how he was being treated, but it was a bad sign, and made us hesitant to consider taking him to Ruffin it since we couldn't be sure what was happening during the day off camera. We were told that Thursdays were ideally for tiny dogs and dogs that didn't want to play, which we could see on the cameras wasn't accurate. There were plenty of dogs much larger than our dog in the small dog room, and lots of dogs playing even when our dog was sleeping on the bench. But we were told that our dog was too high energy to come on Thursdays, so we agreed to try him out in one of the bigger dog rooms only on Thursdays. He did a trial day and it sounded like it went well. When we took him the next Monday they sent him to the big dog room again which was a surprise to us since we had thought he was only doing Thursdays in the big dog room, but we were trusting their judgement of where he was the best fit. When we went to pick him up, we were told that he has been in an isolation room since 9 am and had failed his trial days and thus wasn't allowed back. Since he had passed his trial days in the small dog room, our understanding was that he was just going through trial days in the big dog room to see how he interacted with bigger dogs for Thursday play. There was no communication from the staff that if he didn't play well with the big dogs he couldn't come back any day of the week, or that there had been any issues reported at all in the small dog room. The staff didn't call us to let us know that he had been put in isolation at 9 am, so he had to sit in the room for 8 hours until we came to get him. They claimed an email was sent which was never received, but even if there was, a phone call should be mandatory when locking a dog up so the parents are aware. All our communication with Ruffin it had been done via phone (texts and calls) up until this point, so only sending an email makes no sense. It felt as if they were trying to hide the fact that they locked him up. If we had known we would've left work to come pick him up sooner. Instead he had to sit in the room all day, and while they told us he was given bathroom breaks it didn't seem as if that was true given how much he peed as soon as he got out (he normally pees every 2 hours so there's very little urine each potty break. He peed for a solid 2 minutes straight after this day as soon as he got outside). It's totally fine if a dog isn't a good fit for a daycare, and we would have accepted that answer if it had been conveyed to us, especially considering our own hesitations. But instead, there was no communication leading up to this incident that there were any issues with our dog at all besides his high energy on Thursdays, and there was no communication day of to let us know that anything had happened. Instead our dog sat in a room by himself for 8 hours and we were charged a for full day of daycare that did not happen.

Very unprofessional and overpriced. Don't waste your time here. Even if you manage to get a…read morereservation, they will make up an illness your dog has as a reason to deny service.

A Breed Apart Animal Hospital - Charlee

A Breed Apart Animal Hospital

We have three cats and have happily spent four years as patients/customers at A Breed Apart…read more I should say, I am a helicopter cat mom. I've read books, I'm always learning about cat history, behavior, quirks, etc. People know me as the crazy cat lady and I am a hovercraft when it comes to my cat's health. When we first adopted a cat in 2016, we lived off Gammon, so A Breed Apart just made sense. The doctors were kind and friendly. Then we got a kitten in 2017 and put both the cats on ASPCA insurance just in case. Both were adopted from shelters, so they were spayed already, but the staff at ABA has always helped us with vaccinations, check ups, strange bouts of vomiting and micro chipping. Dr. Meyers and Dr. Vanderloo are our favorites along with Julie and Chris our usual vet techs. Then in 2019, we ended up with a kitten by accident and despite having moved across town to central/East Madison, you bet we still make the drive to our vets at A Breed Apart. We had to go through the spaying process for the first time this past December and I was terrified. The vet techs here are just awesome and they dealt with my crazy mom nerves and helped calm both me and our kitten. They took her all day and did the surgery, called me and only ~$210 later, I had a fixed kitty. We came back 10 days later for stitch removal for free -- I was surprised at how easy they made the whole thing. Then there was a rough week when our first born was diagnosed with kidney issues/renal disease. I was crushed and terrified to hear that one of our kids was sick and not doing well. Dr. Vanderloo was so awesome about everything -- she had a great attitude and kept us (me) calm. She helped us put our cat on specialty prescription food and has extended our cat's life for sure. We are proud to be an ABA family and will continue to be as long as we live in Madison.

If I could give 10 stars, I would. The saying on their website: "we know your pets are family, we…read moretreat them that way" couldn't be more accurate. I took my sweet boxer Charlee here for the past 3 years and the care she received from day one was beyond incredible. While Charlee was easy to love, she had a lot of medical needs and the entire team was there not just to treat her, but to love and care for her as if she were their own. The entire team was incredible throughout and provided wonderful service, but a very special thanks and recommendation to Dr. Kate Waushabaugh and Georgia who went above and beyond for Charlee, and myself. Charlee was in the best hands...from routine care, emergencies and up to the point to when she fell asleep in this world. I trusted their care, their opinion, their service. Their primary goal is to give the best care possible and so it never felt transactional, insensitive or for profit. Dr. Kate spent countless hours with me talking, researching and extending kindness that I'm sure I can't ever repay just to give Charlee the best possible care - however we got there. Even when it came time to say goodbye, Dr. Kate stayed with us, and then walked us out without ever blinking an eye about the details. That kind of peace of mind she provided is priceless. I can't say the same for other places in the area, hence this review. There is no other place I would have trusted more with my most loved pet , and will continue to do so in the future as well. I would recommend A Breed Apart and their entire staff to anyone that is ever looking for the best, honest, thorough and beyond loving care for their furry family member.
