It was late. I was hungry. They were open. I was sick with the flu. They were close. All very good reasons to come here. I had a Vinny's Bag Of Donuts which is meatballs, marinara, provolone on wheat roll. Lots of choices. Good sandwich. Good stuff. Back to sleep. read more

Bite is like "the one that got away". Reasons being that I don't eat there anymore because of our long-distance relationship and the fact that she never wanted to open a sister Bite in NYC. So now I forever think about that creamy Gouda drizzling down the flanks of rotisserary chicken with seasoned sliced tomatoes blanketing from on top. Or the way the avocado melted into the Dutch crunch crust leaving me feeling full and happy. My mouth is seriously watering right now. I literally ate a sandwich from here at least 4 times a week. Funny thing is, I worked at a sandwich shoppe/cafe, but on my way home I'd run straight to Bite. Best sandwiches in the area I'd say. Miss you Bite. I wish we were still together. read more

I'm no sandwhich connoisseur, but this is definitely one of the best sandwhichs i have ever had. This place gets constant business and it is very busy, i reccomend calling in- which iknow sounds strange for a sandwhich but it beats waiting for 20-30min. It looks like a hidden gem but trust, it's a gem that for some reason basically everyone knows about. It's small, more seating outside than inside which isn't saying much. This place is literally right next to where i've been living for the past year and i have never been in but always wanted to- glad i went. Got the Gouda Good. Sandwhichs are bigger than they look. Could use more gouda as you cannot really taste it and it's named after it so you should. The pepper sauce has a really nice spice in it and the dutch roll is very nice as well. The chicken is pretty amazing and the vegetables have a nice vinegar flavour. read more

Working my way down the list of specialties sandwiches as they are all freakin' amazing! The bread is always delicious and their special sauces add just the right bite to each masterpiece. They also have a sister restaurant eleven o one which has a larger menu and drinks! read more

I ended up at Bite, since it was one of the only places open at 1 a.m. on a Sunday night. While there were a few other groups of people congregating in the small space, I was pretty much able to order right away. The employees were nice and joked around a bit with me, which added to the "late night" feel. I got the Gouda Good Sandwich with extra Aioli and Spicy Sauce on the side. The sandwich came with gouda and freshly roasted chicken and was baked à la Ike's. While the combo was good, I found the bread a bit thick and tough and had to douse it in the (garlic) aioli. (Perhaps I came in too late?) That said, it was pretty satisfying and I'll probably be back next time I find myself in SF late at night. Oh, and the parking sucks: After 10 minutes, I finally found a small, empty strip of white curb. read more

Best sandwich shop in town, hands down. It's only two blocks up from my apartment which is mega convenient, but they honestly just make insanely delicious sandwiches. I also ways get the Vinny Bag of Donuts, while the boyfriend explores a bit more and tries other varieties. But legit, whenever we have someone in town visiting or have a friend in the neighborhood, we grab a bite from here. They also make whole rotisserie chickens, which I have to admit I haven't tried yet, but they look and smell amazing from just beyond the counter, and they're less than $12. They don't deliver, and there is only some limited room to sit and eat outside, but grabbing something from this place is never a bad decision. read more

Friendly staff, food made on the spot but have to agree with another reviewer that the lettuce to meat ratio is a bit off. Also, they ran out of bread and only wraps were available that particular night. read more

Definitely one of the better sub sandwiches I've had in town, but I never seem to go back because -- at least during normal hours -- there are just much better sandwich options in the neighborhood. Bite has limited seating, only a few beverage options (mostly bottled), and probably more choices than they can credibly juggle in such a small kitchen. How fresh can your BBQ be when it's one of over twenty options? They also only seem to offer "to go" even for their own tables (which are outside), so you can be stuck having your "plate" blow around. But, more than any other reason, I just think there are better neighborhood options. read more

This place is open from 11am to 2am serving a variety of sandos and salads. I started coming here because of the rotisserie chicken and trying to be a bit healthy at 1am. Being in the service industry and City native I know this is hard to come by. Service here is straight forward. They are usually busy but I have gotten good service here all the times I have come here. I do not know what magic folks are expecting in the TL ( tendernob is a real estate name) but I know that Bite delivers magic when most places are closed or just have non caring students un gloved hands all on your food. They have grown people that give you hot well made sandwich 13 hours a day thats 5 stars to me! But I get the city and the folks that try everyday to give a little in a city where transplants expect so much but support businesses that give so little! Thanks Bite drunk sober or in between your my thing! read more

Tuck away in Nob Hill, you wouldn't expect this place to be that wonderful but Gouda Good sandwich is the best!! The gouda cheese melts perfectly in the Dutch Roll and that rotisserie chicken is just fantastic. You can do no wrong! read more

The portions are amazing the prices are reasonable and the staff is helpful. Plus they are open till like 3am and willing serve you no matter how bad the decision is that you are making after the club or the bar. The wraps are bomb and you have to keep going back to try the different sandwiches on the big board. I love the ones with cracked pepper turkey or Gouda cheese. You can also make your own sandwiches if theirs don't fit your taste. Not a lot of vegetarian options but if you are of that persuasion you probably wouldn't have made it too far in here anyway! read more

In a city that is mostly devoid of great sandwiches, Bite is a standout. The tiny shop is easy to miss, but for those that persevere it's well worth the walk from Union Square. The New York New York sandwich with pastrami, bacon, and Swiss cheese on sourdough was perfect. The meat was cooked to the right level of doneness, the toppings were delicious without being so voluminous as to squirt out the sides of the sandwich, and the bread was toasted so that it was crunchy, but not burned. The Rotisserie chicken sandwich was tender and tasty. Stacked almost a mile high, the seven meat layered was large enough to be easily shared by two. Great sandwiches on toasty fresh bread with straight-from-the-market ingredient at a fair price and a lolly pop for dessert. How great is that?! read more

Sandwiches of all kinds made to perfection. This is my go to place when I crave a sandwich. They are a little expensive but surely worth it. They have a huge selection from turkey to rotisserie chicken and a long list of toppings and breads. Choose from their specials or build your own. A must try if you crave a sandwich. read more

I went with my husband on vacation to San Francisco and wanted to experience the best food. Not the fanciest but the best tasting and it didn't matter where we had to travel to. After searching on Yelp for a lunch spot the other day I came across this gem of a place. I read many reviews and realized the Gouda Good was the most popular choice and most raved about. Boy, they weren't kidding. The sauce and chicken along with the specialty bread made this sandwich to die for. The chicken was not dry at all and that Gouda, wow! I only wish there was a spot like this in LA. But I will be coming back next year, and making a stop here. The spot is really small and only has outside seating. We sat outside and ate half of the sandwich. When we got back to the hotel room and finished the other half, I didn't even have to warm it up and still tasted amazing. Great Sandwich! read more

I take this place for granted because it's so close, but the sandwiches and rotisserie are consistently great. Highly recommend the Gouda Good, it's both sandwich AND rotisserie! Bonus: if you ever need to find a cop or a paramedic this is the place. read more

Amazing place to get a quick and casual but healthy and high quality meal. A much better option than surrounding establishments. Wish there were more late night eateries of this caliber in SF! Would highly recommend! read more

Thought I would give this place another shot after I had a bad experience the last I ordered food from here. Which I hoped was an off time since I use to love this place. I greatly regret that decision. $30 in the trash. None of what we ordered was correct. I liked how my pastrami with everything except tomatoes was just pastrami, BBQ sauce and extra tomatoes. Did I mention I'm seriously allergic to tomatoes? No? Yeah. I wouldn't usually do this but this sucks. Especially now since this whole covid thing and I'm not working anymore. Whatever. read more

One of my all-time favorite sandwich places, and my go-to whenever I'm in the TenderNob area. I always get the All-American Wrap, and it's divine. I've actually not even tried anything else there, because after having that sandwich, I didn't want to mess with perfection. The wrap is big enough for two meals, and the place is quick, relatively inexpensive, and non-pretentious. read more

Yessss. Great sandwiches. Good ingredients. Good drink and chip selection too (have my voodoo chips!).

Absolutely terrible. I ordered the turkey sandwich with everything on it. The ENTIRE sandwich was disgusting. Everything was old, smelly and stale! I Also ordered the Greek Salad. I had to throw away the entire Salad after seeing mold on one of the tomatoes. Very disappointed. read more

After happy hour in downtown, we were starving for food so we swung by Bite along the way home and got 2 sandos. I think all sandwiches comes toasted, but i prefer un toasty sandos. 1) Branding Iron (bbq roast beef) 2) The Gotti (Mortadella, ham, salumi) I thought my "Branding Iron" sando was pretty good, quite huge for 8 bucks, but it's not a must eat place where you drive around the block 10 times before finding a space type of place. Actually there shouldn't be any places where parking takes more than 10 minutes, If they had valet I would of done it. Bonus: They sell my favorite bag of "Dirty Chips." If I'm in the area and find parking within 5 minutes, I would swing by again. read more

Too awesome for words. Best sandwich in the downtown area hands down. The Gooda Good makes me go Mhmmmm everytime I think about it. Grilling hot rotisserie chicken, gouda cheese, the secret sauce with dijon mustard with the works. What I love about it the most is the more than average dash of pepper! read more

I have eaten here twice when in the area and needed a quick meal. Both were very good. They are no Ike's. But I will continue to go back. They don't have a lot of drink options, which was a bummer. The staff has been friendly and responsive. Highly recommended. read more

Gouda good on sourdough. Add pesto sauce. Nuf said. Open 'til 1:30 but often run outta ingredients well before that. Did I mention the Gouda Good is made from their fresh rotisserie chicken? Did I mention the Gouda Good? Oh and their sister-spot -- eleven-o-one on polk -- is open 30 mins later and has seating (but the sammies are priced $1-2 more). read more

Checked in to the hotel pretty late (11-12AM) in the evening and BITE was open late! I got THE GOTTI with EVERYTHING. The sandwich was HUGE! Lots of flavor with the artichokes and toppings and it's big enough to share. Oil and vinegar made it a messy sandwich but overall it was delicious. read more

Yummy in my tummy! Nom, nom nom... Love this place and they've got great sandwiches! My favorites are the Branding Iron & The Avenues. Gobbler is halfway decent as well. Knocked a star for how crazy busy it is (but you can always call in your order) and lack of any indoor seating. The website doesn't have the full specialty menu, either, which would be nice of you're calling in your order. Otherwise would definitely recommend it. read more

Get anything w/ the chicken and you will be happy. Did the Moshe Moshe today w/ Jalapenos and it was AWESOME. The people that work there pound music and I was a sad hungover mess so that part sucked but the sando is always worth it. They are delicious and for what my opinions is worth they give Ike's a run for their money. If you go at a normal meal time you will wait a bit (as all good things are worth some time) and they are in no hurry. Be patient, you won't regret it. read more

Great place to grab a bite. Small little shop to grab a huge sandwich and eat on the sidewalk or to go. Had the Cowboy melt and it was great. It has rotisserie chicken, cheddar cheese, and barbecue sauce. A great combo. My boyfriend had the Gouda Gouda and loved his as well. There is definitely enough sandwich for two meals. The selection was huge. My only wish is that I lived in San Francisco so I could try all of their sandwiches. read more

The best damn chicken soup I've EVER had. Sandwiches are also money, the bread is perfect and the ingredients are fresh. Definitely recommend this place. read more

Great sandwiches! Tremendous variety. I got the veggie and my wife got the gobbler. Both were very tasty. Tip: store sign says open at 11. Yelp says 11:30. Actually had to wait till 11:45. Only ding. First time here. Will definitely be back next time in San Fran! read more

Love this little gem! I've been to Bite several times over the last few months, varying between ordering a turkey wrap or customized sandwich - the latter of which always needs to be on dutch crunch, toasted (alwayssss). To order, they have a couple of clipboards that you can fill in, which I think really helps to make sure you get exactly what you want. They have been consistently generous with meat and veggies, flavors are great and I love their garlic aioli. There are a few tables and chairs outside to sit, but I've always taken it to-go. Unfortunately the last time I went, they charged me extra for avocado even though I did not request it (and there was none in my sandwich either) :( I did not realize this until I got home, so I didn't want to walk all the way back - conclusion is: quickly double check the receipt when you're paying, as they do itemize additions. Overall I feel this was just a one-time thing, and this won't deter me from continuing to eat here. read more

Hit or miss. I noticed that it depends on whether or not the boss lady is working. My Cobb salad, when she's not there, has a ton of white meat chicken. When she is there- it's the left over dark meat that looks like it was scraped from the bottom, and like 2 teaspoons of it. It's open late- so that's why they get 2 stars. read more

I was looking for good sandwich places on Yelp and happened to stumble across this one. Came out here for a vacation and stopped in here to get a sandwich. I've only visited once but felt the need to review as the food was delicious. I only got to try two of the sandwiches, so my limited view warrants 4 stars.. for now. The options are abundant, I mean there is something for everyone here. The ingredients are fresh and super tasty. I believe I only waited 5 minutes or so for 2 sandwiches, so A+ on service and the staff were nice as well. This place is super unassuming, like people have said on here it's literally a "hole in the wall" type place and sometimes that's all you need. This place delivers on taste and quality. read more
