The sandwiches are good but expensive and the service stinks. I didn't want my sandwich toasted and apparently you have to tick this tiny box on the order form to make sure that doesn't happen. I caught them part way and was told they already made the sandwich and it's my problem. It's a family business and their young son was there but still the guy was very unfriendly and lectured me on filling out out the form correctly- so I demanded a refund for the sandwich. They also told me they don't really care about bad ratings - so perhaps they won't see this but I want to make sure you do. read more

We were staying at the Hotel Vertigo on our honeymoon, and luckily Bite was right next door. We walked by it a few times on our way to site see/other restaurants. One night we were hungry and didn't feel like walking so gave this place a try. !!!!! is all we have to say! The sandwiches may be close to the best I've ever had. We tried the Gobbler and Gouda Good. Both were delicious--I wanted to keep eating the Gouda though I was full. Sandwiches were nice sized, and the Dutch Crunch bread was awesome and unique. I saved half for the next day and it was still crunchy and just as good. I got a salad the first time, while my husband got the Gobbler, and I realized what a mistake I made after trying a bite of his. The salad was okay, had a ton of overpowering dressing and just didn't compare with the sandwiches. Also the wait was a little long both times. This is why I deducted one star. A big bonus is that they are open til 1:30 am, so you can satisfy your late night craving. Also, this is more of a take home/take out place--I think there were 2 small tables, but that is it. Sandwiches. As many as you can imagine. Although it may be a little pricey for some (be prepared to pay $8+ for your sammich), it's well worth it for others. I've tried a good 7-8 of their sandwiches and haven't regretted a single one. I'd definitely recommend the Gouda Good to any Bite virgins. It'll blow your mind. It's my third night in the city and I'm leery of trying a new place for dinner only to get burned with bad food and a $30 bill. I walked into Bite after checking out their reviews and I'm so glad I did - the sandwich combinations were unique and so tasty! I got the Gouda Good- rotisserie chicken (freshly made on the premises), gouda, lettuce, tomato onion, pickle, and some kind of magical peppercorn sauce. The bread it comes on is called "Dutch crunch", and I must say, this bread takes the sandwich to a new level. The bill came out to $15 for the sandwich and a Snapple. Awesome sandwiches for the price!!! I loved the menu because it was easy and self explanatory! The names for their specials are hilarious! I got the rotisserie chicken sandwich and it was tender and not chewy at all. My boyfriend got the seven meat layered sandwiched that was stacked!!! We couldn't even finish it. Pros: Fresh ingredients, with fresh toasted bread. Sandwiches are large and filling. Flavorful with every bite! They give you a lollipop for dessert! Cons: only two people working so it takes a little while for the sandwiches to be done. The sandwiches are huge but very messy when eating it so take caution and to bring lots of napkins and not to wear nice clothes. :) Other than that, I would come back here for another monster sandwich! read more

The Good: It's open late. The service is decent. There's outdoor seating. The Bad: The price definitely is not on par with the quality. While you're paying $15 for a sandwich + chips, you're really getting something you can make at home for a fraction of that price. You could go to Ike's place and get more bang for your buck. If it's earlier than 6pm, you're better off going up the street to one of the sandwich shops on Bush st. Bite is my go-to place for speedy and consistently delicious sandwiches in my neighborhood; I eat there at least once or twice a week and get the same order virtually almost every time (the Treesitter). Many say it's the 'Ikes North of Market' and I'd have to agree - the delicious creations on the menu are on point. Pros: they throw in a ton of napkins and a free lollypop with the order, allow for custom substitutions, and are extremely speedy despite their small space. Plus, they're open till 2am! Cons: The only downfalls would be size, noise level, and sometimes they've messed up my order in the past (this hasn't happened in the last 6 months, though!). Also, they really need help with their website / web presence. I'm still a major Bite fan and would recommend it to anyone looking for a quick and delicious sandwich. read more
