We have been here several times. We usually do brunch. I feel like the menu options are a little too funky for the average person but the flavor is really good. Everything is very rich so be ready to be full. I find it to be a little pricey but it is convenient to Indian Ranch and so we tried it. I ordered the Eggs Benedict but wanted it without the scallops. Still got charged the full price ($18 I think) which kind of pissed me off. Bartender said that there was nothing she could do. Had I known that I would have definitely ordered something else. We went in two more times. The wait was really bad. The bloody Mary's are delicious so that helped a little! The 2nd time we actually waited a really long time to have our drinks filled and almost walked out. Then after waiting almost 45 minutes for our breakfast mine was disgusting. The scallops were so overcooked that I could not even bite them. They were like rubber bands!! The English was ROCK hard. The bartender made a few excuses and walked away to get the manager who then came over. They asked if I wanted anything else but at that point I just wanted to leave! I was hangry and we had a concert to go to. You'll notice I still left 4 stars. Well that is because the manager totally owned it!! She tried to offer an explanation but you could tell she genuinely felt bad. She comped my breakfast and gave me a gift card and asked us to please give them another try. 4 Stars are for the customer service! THAT is what will make us go back. See you next summer! read more

I had a hugely disappointing meal tonight. I ordered the ribeye, which is the only steak I EVER eat, both at home and while dining out. I've never before had such a tasteless steak, that was also nearly 50% fat!! My husband had a burger that was supposed to be cooked medium but was rare in the middle and cold....along with fries that were cold!! I do have to admit the fried goat cheese appetizer was excellent! On a good note though, our server Tamara did a fantastic job! She was attentive and made sure to refill our coffee and water regularly. I felt badly about letting her know our dissatisfaction but it was not her fault. She neither selected the steak nor did she cook it, but sadly, they are always the ones to hear the complaints. This place has excellent service and the goat cheese appetizer is seriously addicting. We go here at least once a month just for that.

This place never disappoints. Great food, but we love the service better. Nick has been our server on a couple of our visits and he just kills it. We did the $88 baked haddock for 6-8 people. We did pick up as my husband was on the way home from work. I texted the order in around 2 for pick up at 4:30. Food was hot and delicious. Way more food for us than we needed. But that ok. I used the potatoes for breakfast the next day and we ate carrots for Sunday dinner. Everything was included salad, dressing, bread, butter, cheesecake assortment and even the utensils for serving. We will be making this a tradition. read more

A friend suggested we meet and have dinner before going out for a few drinks. I arrived and sat at the bar. I was quickly greeted by the bartender who was friendly and quite knowledgeable about their menu. Service was great, I had to wait for my friend and while waiting I spoke with several regular customers. It's a nice comfortable place to go. We ordered dinner and I can't say enough about it. I wasn't looking for a full meal so I ordered the buffalo tenders. They were excellent. I hope to try more dishes in the future. Can't wait to go back. To sum it all up, it's well worth it. I've had this place on my radar for several years. The menu looked interesting and I had heard good things...maybe I went on an off night, but I'd be hard pressed to go back. My meal was simply awful. We started with the caprese bites - cherry tomatoes cut in half with a mozzarella ball and basil leave skewered on a plastic toothpick and drizzled with balsamic glaze. Sounds good-ish, but completely missed the mark (when your friend who lives in the trailer park tries to get fancy). I had the Black and Blue Ahi Tuna, which was on special for 10.99 normally 19.99. I suppose that should have given me pause. What I was served was inedible. The "chilled Asian noodles in sesame peanut sauce" were horrible. A pasty, sloppy, wet mess. Well, it's been over a month since we've eaten outside our home and tonight we broke down and got takeout from Bistro Eighty-Ates. We ate there once a number of years ago and weren't impressed, but tonight was amazing!! We both took a chance on the Fish and Chips and it was the right choice. The portions were HUGE - an entire haddock fillet per portion, with fries and coleslaw. But what really amazed us was how fresh the fish was and CRISPY! I don't know how they did it, but it was still crispy when I got home to Douglas. The restaurant was also practicing responsible distancing and hygiene. I highly recommend. read more

The reason for 4 stars is because the quality of the beef in our stroganoff meal could have been better and the bread in our goat cheese appetizer was too well done. Felt inclined to review after seeing the negative reviews and having the opposite experience! Stopped in on our way to a concert at Indian Ranch to grab a bite to eat. We snagged 2 bar stools as the place started to clear out (we didn't need to rush to the concert for opening act). The bartender Katrina was super friendly and got drinks immediately. We ordered the fried goat cheese which they were out of so got the spinach and artichoke dip instead. We are STILL talking about how it's the best version we've ever had! We then shared the grilled chicken BLT which comes between 2 grilled cheese. It was big but yummy. Perfect for splitting. The food was a little slow but we were also there on the heels of a big concert rush so didn't mind. Katrina communicated with us the entire time and kept checking the status of our order in the kitchen. Will def make this a stop before all future concerts! read more

Paid extra attention to the kids' table and consistently complimented them for their behavior. Worst service ever tonight. Went out for our anniversary but brought our daughter since we don't have a sitter. Waitress was training another waitress which is fine but she up sold me on a better martini then served me the wrong one. Hubby ordered a 16 oz beer and she served 23 oz. daughter ordered a chocolate milk and got a Yoo-hoo juice box barely cold. Pasta for my daughter had hardly any red sauce on it and an odd aftertaste. My clams were tiny and not fresh and coated with a strange Panko bread crumb as if they ran out of the regular coating. Hubby ordered a steak and cheese wrap and got a steak and cheese panini which wasn't good and totally not what he ordered. Fries were really good. Water tasted like it came from lake chargoggagoggmanchauggagoggchaubunagungamaugg. We sat for twenty minutes before they came to check on us. Instead of complaining we just decided to pay and go- but she wouldn't let us. Declined her offer to see the dessert menu but she said, " I'm training I have to show her how this is done" while my four year old drooled at an electronic dessert menu preview that we asked her not to show us. My husband and I rarely go out. We tried Bistro 88 because we were in the area. It was my first time there and it will also be my last. Our waitress was irritated because we only ordered beers and apps. She was hands down the worst waitress I've had in a long time. I was shocked by her attitude. Once our app arrived (half hour later) it was not as described on menu. My husband couldn't eat it because it wasn't gluten free as described/assumed on menu. The night was a bust. This place was subpar at best. I've worked in the restaurant business for more then 20 years now and I can tell you that I was all around disappointed and will not return. The first rule of any hospitality driven product/service is "to under-promise and over-deliver". Unfortunately, 88 is mastering "over-promise and under-delivering". I have eaten here on several occasions and have noticed a trend over the last year. This seemed to be a well-tended effort by this small restaurant group in the beginning. My last couple of visits have been at a minimum, confusing, to the most recent, "what the #%@". The mantra is "A big city experience...without leaving town". If that means "we will dazzle you with impressive sounding food descriptions and then deliver an uninspired, warmed-over dish" they are right on target. If you offer anything "big city" at least have the nads to deliver something original. The 1985 brushed metal, flashdance design flashback is not exactly warm or cutting edge. The bar is stocked with the same homogeneous pub beer and back bar selections. In a modern world where there is no better time to be creative and original with your libations, why o why do all the "blank-tini" drinks have enough sugar to to give Africa diabetes...like the entire country. The entree line says "Entrees are served with a choice of potato & vegetable du jour (unless otherwise noted) which means if there is a GARNISH of fried leeks or crispy onions...there are no vegetables served. Since when does a garnish replace an actual vegetable? Did crude oil spike a rise in the cost of squash or zucchini? I would rather pay $2 more for some julienne veg then to have my entree show up with hash browns (the "asiago potato cakes") and not even get MY CRISPY LEEK GARNISH. This was an order to-go (by the way) and there was also no inquiry or attempt to add napkins or the usual to-go tools. I guess I can make do with my fingers and t-shirt. The same luke warm closure that we started with. The website is annoying. It is sooooooooooooooo easy to craft a solid, economical web presence nowadays. I cannot fathom why your corporate, MULTI-UNIT web site looks like a myspace afterthought. If you are going to place an image of your menu online, please take a moment in Photoshop to make a clean, web friendly version of it. Is this representative of your overall efforts? I was really wishing for these guys to succeed as living in Webster leaves MUCH to be desired for casual dining. For now, I will drive 20 minutes to Milbury or eat in Auburn before making the 5 minute trek to the bistro. I hope they pull out of the nose dive and focus on the details that currently escape them. You do not need to be a large, well financed restaurant group to deliver value and consistency, but you do have to care about it in the first place. read more

This restaurant has very good food. The time that we waited for our food to come was about 1 1/2. I understand that the restaurant was busy but the orders to come last were a Caesar Salad and Pasta. Just had a delicious meal at Bisto Eighty-eight. We've been coming here since it opened. We were seated right away in the lounge. Our server, Tana, was attentive and charming. I had the Caribbean Haddock and my husband had the chicken cordon bleu. Both were cooked to perfection. The cordon bleu was not your traditional dish. It had a vodka sauce and was served with sweet pea risotto. My husband was pleasantly surprised at how good it was. We definitely plan on going back again. read more

LOVE THIS PLACE! We never have a bad experience here. The food is always amazing and the service is great. I love having one of their unique cocktails while waiting for my meal. Eighty Ates Bistro is a nice local option for Webster, however living in Thompson, there are better options the other direction in Putnam. 88's has a TON of potential. What keeps them back from shining: 1) SLOW service. Extremely friendly servers, just very slow with coming around. 2) Food takes an eternity to come out, so definitely not the place if you are in a hurry 3) Inconsistent food. You can get the same thing multiple times and it'll never taste the same. Also, the one in Dudley is better. read more

I have given this restaurant numerous chances. The last four times I waited over an hour for just takeout. Bartenders busy talking amongst themselves and not waiting on customers. I ordered the sole special. Which came with a bake potato. We waited over 45 minutes for our food and decided to just get it to go. When I got home I opened up the box and found this white under cooked ball of what looked like a paper towel (that was the fish) and a potato that was ice cold. Disgusting.!! Tasted like a frozen dinner they found. I threw it out. I had one decent meal there which was the cheese burger. Every other meal was disgusting. Not worth your time. I understand that there are circumstances with the pandemic, however, this was by far the worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant. I can get by with an extremely long wait, and a waitress that hardly came to our table. However, we ordered 4 meals. Two steaks came out raw. Not just undercooked, but cold and purple. The wellington was overcooked but still good. When we finally were able to flag down someone to explain, we were offered a 25 dollar gift card which the manager told us, "you can give it to someone or throw it out, whatever" Even after taking the two raw steaks off the bill, we paid 140 dollars for two hours of our life and a few drinks, which were the bright spot of the evening. read more

We had a nice dining experience on our first trip here a few weeks ago, so we headed there again last night. We made our reservation for 7 pm and arrived at 6:55, we were seated under the tent as requested. We were not greeted by a server until 7:15 after we flagged down a manager to let him know we were waiting. Our server was pleasant and apologetic stating they had been very busy tending to a party of 8 and few other tables, but since they were all done, it would be better. We ordered drinks and an appetizer. The beer was cold and the Sangria was tasty. Our appetizer, a brisket egg roll, took over 30 minutes to arrive, but was very good. The server stated she had put in our entree order before serving the appetizer to ensure prompt delivery. We both ordered off of the Specials menu, I had ordered a buffalo blue cheese chicken risotto dish and my husband got the Cajun rib eye (medium rare). At approximately 830 pm our entrees arrived. My dish was delicious at first bite. My husband cut into a Well Done ribeye, that was mostly fat and grisell (the server even said it didn't look like there was any meat). I shared my dish with my husband who had to wait for his dish to be remade. We had them pack it to go, as it was approaching 9 pm. We heard the same excuse regarding the party of 8 slowing down the service, once again. We were offered a dessert on the house, but declined. Our check totaled $90.00, we left the parking lot at 9pm. The combination of the extremely slow service and the lack of quality of the steak, and the fact that a party of 8 can affect the service to such a point will make us reconsider a return trip. read more

Amazing!! My boyfriend and I's first time dining here and we were blown away! The acorn squash soup was phenomenal and the fried calamari was excellent! I had the pulled pork Shepard's pie and my boyfriend had the butternut squash ravioli, he was in heaven with his as was I! I took my 3 kids here (young adults) because we wanted to try something local as opposed to a chain restaurant. we were the only other people in the dining area in addition to one other booth of 2 people. Yet, our meals took over a half-hour to come out. The ceasar salads were over-dressed to the point of dripping, there was nothing fresh about the margherita pizza, it was overcooked and looked just like a plain cheese pizza with a few shavings of basil here and there and no fresh mozzarella to be found. The french fries were over-done too. The Bistro Gnocci was good but not for $19!! Our meal of $96 was worth about $36 to me. We won't be returning. read more

If you love beer start with the draft beer flight, for 32 0z And less then 9 dollars it is a steal and a lot of fun. Ahi tuna app was great. My husband 's lamb entree was to die for. I did lobster casserole special which was good, but next time I'll try the steak I think based on reviews. Brownie sundae dessert was huge. Btw if you love beer they have a great draft menu. I will say they are very expensive for a bistro in Webster, MA. Overpriced for the food and locale. Not high end decor that would warrant the prices.
