Our New Year Eve Eve dinner took place at this beautiful restaurant across from the chateau. It was magical looking at the lighted-up chateau from the window with French music playing in the background. We also got seated right next to the Christmas tree!! There was a musician played the piano. I appreciated the music and the artist so much that I was the first one to clap my hands. Everyone seemed to love their job there. The pianist played with passion and joy while the waiter was going out of his way to make us happy! When I was struggling trying to remember the name of a song, he told me it was Bésame Mucho The way of cooking seemed to be more modern than the other French fine dining places so to be honest, at first, I didn't expect I would love the food as much as I did. My partner had a hamburger and my kids had their most favorite French fries and pizza I had escargots which were off the shells so at first I didn't expect much (I always respect anything classy and traditional) but it was actually more tasty than the other place!! I had duck confit all the way in Quebec City. My pasta with duck confit in orange sauce was to die for!!

Phenomenal experience. Amazing food, extraordinary service, breathtaking views. This restaurant is a diamond. Hubby raved about his Poutine appetizer and Beef Jowl entree. I loved my Escargot appetizer and Seafood Pasta. Our server went above and beyond. We were in a hurry because the Airline lost our luggage and we needed to buy clothes at Simon's before they closed for the night. She rushed our order out to us and we couldn't have been happier. Sitting on the patio offers unbelievable views of Château Frontenac. Simply incredible.

Great restaurant and located just down the street from hotel. The service was fantastic. The food even better. The duck confit was awesome as was the Wall Eye. Finish with the Creme Brulee.

It is a restaurant located in a historic 17th-century building in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada. Situated on Rue Saint-Anne, it is located across Place d'Armes from the Château Frontenac. it looks amazing, especially in the rain and at night. We were relaxing at Duffin Terrace and got a craving for coffee, I googled and found a couple of cafes, but this one looked very beautiful. It was not a rush time, so got the table easily. We did enjoy the view of Chateau Frontenac, sitting outside having sips of great coffee. I thought I would come back for dinner but bad luck, it was pouring really bad... nevertheless, enjoyed the history, food, vibe, and culture at this amazing bistro.

What a great spot. Food is delicious, service was great. We tried their pizza and it was great. There is a pool table in the back. Found it on tiktok. There is outside tables as well. Recommend the escargot.

It was past 12:30pm and chilly rainy afternoon. We went to a restaurant near where we were and it was packed with people. We were seated at a large table and behind us, there were interesting wine displays. As soon as sat down, we asked for French onion soup. Asked how the portions is. The waitress said, it's not that big, like a cup in English with French accent. She was so welcoming and kind. So we ordered one for each but it was more like a bowl filled with rich mozzarella cheese. For party of four, we ordered two pasta dishes, a hamburger and a pizza. My dad ordered beer, mom ordered pepsi, my cousin ordered drafted beer and I ordered red wine. Food came out very slowly and we enjoyed every single bite. We stayed there for more than 2 hours to finish our food. If you are in rush, I don't recommend this place. So the food was really good and the service was beyond my expectations. Our waitress was very friendly and helped out with our drinks and food. We followed her recommends and they were awesome. The portions weren't too small so we had to take whole pizza to go. The price is rather reasonable for the location and fame of this restaurant. The atmosphere was very classy and upscaled. Full of customers so the reservation is highly recommend. It was such a relxing, warm experience, I recommend Bistro 1640.

Great vibes, the one dish I ordered (eggs Benedict poutine) was perfect for two people. High quality eggs, potatoes perfectly cooked down, delicious sausage. I only ordered one thing but it was perfect.

Right years ago my family and I got into Quebec late on a cold December night. We walked across the green to Bistro 1640 and had a great memorable meal and what really stood out was the French onion soup. We recently went back and it was a good as we remembered, even the onion soup! The food was great! The cocktails are innovative and good. We've decided that this is our family's favorite restaurant anywhere

A trip to Bistro 1640 was our first official meal when rolling into Quebec City. We were ravenous and almost ordered every single thing on the menu, and nothing disappointed. The poutine du canard, duck poutine, was a delicious introduction to Canadian poutine. My wife had the seafood pasta with dill, which I'm used to in cold salads, but was delicious in this piping hot dish. I had the beef jowl over veggies and it was a beef lovers paradise! Every strand of roast beef was falling apart, tender, and just this incredible beef flavor. We had the escargot and garlic butter, and it was fantastic as well. We kept on ordering stuff, and never found a thing that we didn't like. Everything here was cooked to perfection, with ingredients of the highest quality and the service is attentive to a point. We sat on the patio, just across from this huge park square, bordered by the Château Frontenac and the city's palisade. It was great for people watching. If you're ever in Quebec city this place is a must visit.

Welcoming bartenders. Excellent drinks. The service was very attentive and the food recommendations were spot on. The atmosphere- lounge, speakeasy vibe, and fabulous music mix. We loved the pork chop and the duck. The side vegetables were SO fresh and delicious. We will be back. Noise level- perfect for talking, and listening!

They have a great location, we were seated outside looking towards the chateau. We got to listen to live music during our visit, be ready for a long wait if you don't make reservations in advance. Because of how busy they were, we only ordered drinks. We got Le spritz à Gigi and sangria blanche. We would highly recommend this spot for happy hour and hope to revisit soon because the food looked great

Service was fantastic. They plate all of their food wonderfully. Everything that went by looked delicious. Great Street side seats provide a wonderful view, local street performers, and lots of people watching. All of our plates were fantastic. The burgers, snails, and pouting were all enjoyable.

Absolutely adorable restaurant outside and inside. You feel like you're in a rabbit burrow. The decor is carefully thought out and charming. The pulled rabbit poutine was great with a mustard sauce instead of the brown gravy you usually get with poutine. The small appetizer poutine was already the perfect size to share along with our smoked duck winter salad and onion soup. Onion soup was made with ale and was covered in cheese. The only thing was that I wished the soup had more broth than cheese. But the onions were tender and cooked down thoroughly. The cheese pull you get is foot long! The broth had a depth of flavor that is not replicated elsewhere. I had the honey pie years ago and remembered that it was sweet, but very good. We didn't have room for dessert, but the maple amaretto creme brulee sounded amazing. All in all, a great meal everytime.

The eggs were cooked perfectly, the toast buttered and fluffy, the hashbrowns were cooked well and seasoned well which is such a bonus as I find sometimes hashbrowns are lacking a lot. We cannot complain about that. Our server was friendly and very charming. The meal was beautifully paced. The restaurant itself is very noisy. The food itself was disappointing. On the recommendation of our server we started with the carrot doughnut. The doughnut itself was lost under a mountain of ricotta. I would not have known that it was carrot, except that she had told us. We ordered two other starters : I ordered the foie gras pate and my boyfriend ordered the fried oysters. The pate was served on a small layer of sunflower butter, which was unnecessary. The pate itself was surprisingly flavorless. Homemade bread and blueberry jam served alongside was quite good. The fried oysters were completely drowned in buffalo sauce, another green sauce and "blue cheese foam". I would not have even known they were oysters. They were served underneath some cucumbers and peppers and lettuce. For our main course, we shared the blood pudding, which, despite the crazy number of ingredients actually was delicious. It was the best thing we ate. It was served with homemade bacon, a roasted artichoke heart, and some mussels croquettes. Seriously a lot going on. For dessert we ordered the spiced orchard dacquoise. Another complex, and I thought overly complicated dish, that my boyfriend felt worked well. It was presented nicely, and I remembered to get a picture of it. All in all, it seemed like there's just way too much going on in each dish and no particular flavor stands out. Two of the dishes, the fried oysters and the carrot doughnut were just sloppy and smothered. The boudin and the dessert were both beautifully plated, and the flavors worked better as well. The foie gras appetizer was unfortunately bland, and the main ingredient did not shine. Maybe it was an off night? Maybe we didn't order the best things? Evidently, they're doing something right because they've been going for 50 years, but we just didn't see that.

We had: - house lemonade - the foie gras seed butter and blueberry jam app; this is served on a broiche with a large amount of foie gras and homemade roasted sunflower seed butter; this was a very flavorful and filling starter for two - Poulet de Cornouailles - cornish roasted hen (the whole bird, small); was very delicate, served on mashed turnips, topped with an artistic grilled turnip and other veggies to cover the protein, it was a great experience to taste each component of the dish and have it come together well - veal flank steak with sauce on carrot puree and bitter vegetables - dessert (which changes frequently) was an artistic experience, a spiced cake with sauce, a uniquely (not my favorite) ice cream with candied bitter citrus peel served on top of toasted granola/sweetened biscuits The serving staff was super knowledgeable and presented each course and dish when served with further explanations on the ingredients, process, as well as how to best experience the dish. We were underdressed, but the host basically was like "the dress code is only for the waitstaff, you are fine." So the place is definitely welcoming and had a nice vibe. Most of the tables spoke French but there was one other larger group also composed of English speakers. Waitstaff was fully bilingual though the vibe of the place is more Francophone than Quebec tourist. The food is cooked technically very well, though the portions are small, particularly our scallop appetizer which was maybe 2 scallops. The food was very good, but for the price it wasn't amazing, amazing. My wife said her trout for example was a bith mushy. I had the beef and it was very good. I'd happily it that and the scallop dish (maybe I'd order two, lol) again. Cocktails were also very good. Then there was the pre-dinner mackrel rolled in seaweed. Totally fine but an odd choice to give to all the diners. Also, the bread was only so-so (I got a better loaf tonight at Farm Boy) and the pepper butter and fois-gras butter were sort of tasteless. Again this is a solid restaurant and despite being 'fancy' had a very unpretentious vibe about it, which I appreciated. But the price feels a bit high, and the service was quite slow. So for me, it is a 4, but except for a restaurant I ate with friends in Montreal in 2018 (the name of which I am forgetting) and a really excellent spot on Les Îles-de-la-Madeleine, the it is probably the best restaurant I've eaten at in Quebec.

Le Saint-Armour is the epitome of an old-money established restaurant. They have their tasting menu…read more($150pp in July 2025) and a curated A la carte menu (appies ranging $29-39 and mains $56-72). Don't forget to save room for their desserts though because they were so thoughtful and artistically crafted!! Walking in, you go through a modern dining room and foyer. Then you enter their glass ceiling green house room where it's an eclectic but classy collection of plants, art, and decor. Their WINE MENU was an insane list & came as a book that was 50+ pages long!! Along with a bottle of wine, lovely complimentary bread & butter & amuse bouche....here's what we ordered: THE FOIE GRAS EXPERIENCE (5/5) - so fun getting to mix and match all 5 forms of foie gras. The most mind blowing one HAS to be the brûléed/caramelized foie gras in the little dish. Smokey, rich and savoury! LOBSTER BISQUE (5/5) - love the large chunk of fresh lobster. I enjoyed that it's not mashed up with everything and I get to enjoy the textures and flavour pairing. Jean-Luc Boulay Signature dish: Squab from Turlo's farm (5/5) - so many things to rave about with the dish. You simply MUST try this, truly a signature dish. EVERYTHING was amazing, and that stuffed mushroom took it to the next level for me. RACK OF LAMB (5/5) - beautiful cut of lamb (not fatty like how most other restaurants are). It's also presented/deconstructed so nicely for ease of eating! The Cannelé (5/5) - DREAMY dessert. It took me by surprise with the caramelized crispy cross-sectioned Cannelé sandwiched with rum mousse and ice cream. The Imperial (4/5) - great praline dessert
