So good I had a second one!!

HIGHLY RECOMMEND Beautiful restaurant with bright and open ambiance. From the bartenders to the wait staff, everyone was beyond excellent. Extremely professional Our food was outstanding. I don't think we ate one mediocre item. I wish we weren't just visiting because this would be a regular for us.

Calamari- was fantastic!

The location is beautiful. It is in a newly renovated Hilton in downtown Dayton. The bartender was fabulous, she was friendly, fast and the drinks were made well. We had a large group and reservations. The server at our table, Jonah, was great and very attentive. Some of the other tables from our group felt the service was lacking but Jonah took good care of our table. Our food was hot and orders came out timely. The menu did not have any vegan options. There were a few vegetarian options but the offerings could benefit from a few plant based options.

After reading a few other reviews, I was hoping for a better experience at Bistecca. The drinks are fantastic, and we enjoyed the grilled artichoke hearts, the lemon you could squeeze on top made the dish The Burrata I've had so much better the Burrata seemed like an afterthought as they piled too many tomatoes & raw onions & not enough bread to soak up the cheese. Once we finally received our main dishes, risotto and cacio e Pepe was so dry & had no flavor. Also the wood fired smell was overpowering throughout the restaurant. Our waitress did her best as it was a busy night due to event next door. Next time will just have a drink & head somewhere else for Italian.

Arancini & burrata

Arancini felt like cold use a bit more salt and something about the crunch kept me wondering. The burrata was good and the steak was cooked perfectly and delicious. Gnocchi was on point. Definitely a good choice... food was good . Atmosphere was nice .

Pride cake pop, layers of rainbow cake covered in white chocolate! Yummy! Thanks for making us feel so welcome!

Small expensive portions that are just 'ok'. It' is pretty inside and the servers were nice.

So we just walked in, and the host was kind enough to let us sit at the little bar area near the window. I like their ordering system. You have many options --- go up to the cash register and order there, order from the server who comes by your table (or in our case, bar), or use your phone by scanning the QR code. And if you use your phone, each person in your party can do it themselves on their own phone. Regardless, it all gets added to the same order for the same table. Pretty slick. At the end, when it comes time to pay, the app lets you split the check however you want, and you can even see the name of the person that ordered each item. The food was incredible. It's not cheap, and the portions are a little smaller than some might expect at an Italian restaurant. But for us, it was filling enough. I personally had the raviolo, which was delicious. Little did I know that in Italian, "raviolo" is singular while "ravioli" is plural. So I got one giant raviolo on my plate (see picture). I didn't care much for the runny egg yolk on top, but it was as advertised on the menu. All the other food orders were amazing, especially the desserts. I'd definitely come back once my food budget resets.

I also asked for some marinara sauce to dip the crusts in. I'm a fan of kale salads and this is a really good one! Tender kale, carrots, onion, avocado with a light vinegar dressing. Ooooo. This is some serious pizza. The crust is house made and just delicious. We love the vegan style, the flavors are buttery and delicious! I'd put this pizza at the top of the list in the Dayton area! Despite being downtown, parking is easy with a large lot out front. The inside decor and atmosphere is awesome. They have vibrant artwork for sale lining the walls. The menu has a great variety, including some vegan options. I had trouble deciding on what to get given the mix of choices. Ultimately, I decided on the chicken parmesan sandwich with jojo fries and my wife got one of the spring specialty burgers. The food arrived pretty quickly. Unfortunately, the food was a bit of a miss for us. For the chicken parm, the focaccia bread was a bit soggy, and the jojo fries were just so-so. I did like the marinara and mozzarella, but overall it left a lot to be desired. My wife's burger was undercooked and quite messy. I'm thinking it may have just been an off day, and I look forward to giving Wheat Penny another shot.
