Calling all wine lovers!…read more Quebec City has some phenomenal wine bars and Le Bedeau is right at the top. From the gorgeous ambience to the extensive wine list and well crafted menu, you should make this your next date night spot while visiting Quebec City. We did not have a ton of time to spend here due to dinner reservations elsewhere. Even though our time was short we had an overal phenomenal experience. The bartender was so friendly and had wine suggestions ranging from Old World to wines that were from Quebec. I started off with a sparkling wine from Canada that was delicious. We also shared a few appetizers such as their burrata and olives. Everything was amazing but definitely be prepared to spend some money here. Since Quebec mostly has everything imported it can get quite pricey but definitely worth it for sure. Cheers!

Honestly, who would have thought at the beginning of this trip that blood pudding would become one of my favorite dishes? Le Bedeau's wasn't my favorite of the two that I have had but it was still really good! You know what else was good this night? The veal carpaccio and the smoked arctic char. Delicious! I wasn't a fan of the rabbit saddle or the burrata this time around due to texture and flavor combinations, respectively. We also had the magnum beaujolais which was really fruit forward and not too acidic. I enjoyed it! Would I come back? Probably! Would I come back if I'm looking for a quieter meal? Probably not.

I've been lucky enough to come twice now while on vacation to jjacques and both times were exceptional, I also funnily enough sat at the exact same table both times. The service and staff and excellent - they give great recommendations, are funny and just make you feel taken care of. Shout-out to Nathan our waiter who spoke in EN for half the table and FR for the other half haha. He was so fun! The first time I came here was with my husband and we had a lovely dinner - the salmon blinis were our fave so I knew when I was here the second time, they were a must! The second time, there were six of us so we ordered quite a bit - we had the salmon blinis with caviar, a few oysters, the cod fritters, the prawn cocktail, the mushroom tortellini, flounder crudo, and whole fried fish - for dessert we did a cheese plate with some delicious local cheese. Everything was delicious - the whole fish is a must - the skin is so crispy and tasty - has a lot of Vietnamese flavours. The cocktails are also fabulous here - I had the Mexican Firing Squad and the Jungle Bird - both delicious and easy to drink! The room itself reminds me of a cool speakeasy bar/resto you'd find in the streets of New York City. It's hidden in an alleyway behind a very unassuming door. It's all part of the magic of the restaurant. If there is one place to go for dinner in QC, go here. We booked a reso in advance and I recommend you do this to secure your spot!

The staff were all very great in explaining everything about the menu. For example, if you want the beef Tomahawk ($145), they told you to order it now since it'll be a 45 minute wait. We started off with 24 oysters ($72) as we love oysters. They had different type of oysters and we enjoyed the east coast oysters. My favorite dishes that we ordered were the seared scallops ($42) and the Butterfish Tataki ($22). We were a bit disappointed in the Crab Rotolo ($36) as we didn't enjoy the combination of the sauce and crab. The scallops were cooked very well and we loved the sauce for the Tataki. The Vitello Tonnato ($22) and Cod Fritters ($15) were decent but not as good in comparison to our favorites. We throughly enjoyed our dinner here as we had a good time trying all the food and mocktails they offered.

Nothing will come close to comparing! We heard good things about the hot chocolate here and wanted to check it out for ourselves after being out in the cold all day. We chose the spiced hot chocolate, as recommended by our server. It was absolutely delicious-- rich, flavorful, creamy, and everything that a hot chocolate should be. Although the price was a bit steep, we had enough for 4 small cups and it came with two scones and whipped cream on the side. We also got two "biscuits", which we thought were going to literal biscuits, but ended up being small pastries which were both tasty! We were lucky enough to snag the seats right next to the fireplace which ended up being the perfect way to spend an hour hanging out. We ended up coming back for a light dinner the same day and also really enjoyed our time. There was a live pianist performing which really elevated the dining experience. We started things off with some oysters, which honestly were some of the best I've had in a very long time. The dipping sauce was a bit strange and untraditional for me, but it was perfect with just a bit of lemon juice. We also got a burger to share, and when they accidentally brought out a side salad instead of the fries we requested, they let us keep the salad and brought a huge entire order of truffle fries for us (!!!) Canadians really have some of the best fries too because these were perfectly crispy and honestly didn't even need dipping sauce. The burger also didn't disappoint and was savory goodness. I wish we tried this place sooner! Would highly recommend, even if you're not staying at the hotel itself.

The entire menu looked irresistible, but we decided we would order 3 starters and dessert. The special appetizer was a creamy wild mushroom sauté with housemade chicken stock and a foie gras option, which we ordered. We also ordered the scallop appetizer and the charcuterie planche. Every single thing we ate was exquisite. Our host, who was also the server. brought each appetizer out as a course beginning with the scallops. They were delicious (although it would've been nice to have had one or two more scallops on there). The mushroom appetizer could have gone on forever as far as I was concerned. Truthfully, we should have stopped there. I did not realize that the charcuterie planche was really enough for four people. We ended up picking at it, but taking a lot of it home for breakfast the next day. Sadly, we did not leave room for dessert. My boyfriend had a Chardonnay from Ontario, which was sweet but paired nicely with the scallops. I had an orange wine, which I had never had before, but it was the suggestion of the host, and it was really delightful with the charcuterie. Great service, delicious food, sweet, sweet spot. Truly, I love this little restaurant, and if I lived nearby, I would be a regular.
