Bishop Vineyard and Winery is a small boutique winery located on the Great River Road, north of Dubuque, IA. near the town of Sherrill.
History
Established in 2018.
The winery opened in early July 2018. We have be working toward to goal for several years, before we could plant a vineyard, the property needed to be cleared and graded, After that we began the process of planting grapes a couple varieties at a time. We currently have 6 different types of grapes, Marquette, Petite Pearl, Leon Millot are our red grapes, Aromella, La Cresent and Brianna are our white grapes. These grapes were selected because they can handled the cold winters of the northern midwest.
Once the grapes where planted, then we began planning on where we could produce and sell wine. The existing farm buildings where our first choice, the cost of renovating these building was just to great to be practical, so they were dismantled and salvaged.
When you visit us you'll find some of the reclaimed lumber being used in our tasting room.
