This company is fantastic. I had no hot water for about 4 days. I had a Sears Warranty that I scheduled them to come last Friday. I waited and waited. They kept me there all day. Then the sent me a text saying my appt had gotten moved to the following Friday. No hot water for a week. Sears Warranty policy will be gone. Went to the website of the brand of the hot water heater. Called Bishop Plumber and my problem was solved. Hot Water. It was not cheap but Plumbering is expensive esp if they are union. No Problem with that. read more

Bishop Plumbing are the worst plumbing company I have ever used. First of all they have no regard for appointment schedule. they showed up 4 hours past scheduled time. The 2 plumbers were sloppy and dirty. They looked like 2 homeless bums. They quoted me the price to do a job with out any breakdown of time, labor or materials costs. Stated the job would take an hour and a half which turned into 3 hours which consisted of eating lunch and simply sitting around. When they finally got to replacing the part in my water tank they discovered that they had the wrong part. This resulted in one of the men to spend another 60 plus minutes driving around trying to get the correct part. Once he finally returned with the correct part it took about 6 or 7 minutes to finish what the one plumber started 3 hours ago. I have since researched the part on line and found it for $27.00 When I called to complain about the $998.00 bill the gentleman was rude and stated that I had signed all the paperwork which is correct but when I asked for a itemized bill he said they only do work on a flat price basis. When I asked if I could see a list of the flat price job descriptions he said absolutely not. Bishop Plumbing is a very disreputable and not to be trusted company. I received their estimate today to repair a broken sewer pipe. Inside the basement, where the sewer pipe connects to the plumbing, is old and rusty plumbing. Also, there is water leaking threw the concrete of the basement. The estimate only included the cost of the sewer pipe. It did not include the costs of replacing the old plumbing and sealing the inside of the basement. I received two other estimates, which included the costs of replacing the old plumbing inside the basement and sealing the cement. Both of the other estimates were more than $4,000 less than Bishops. read more

EDIT: issue was fixed by a local plumber for $200. It took the plumber 30 SECONDS to figure out all I needed was a refrigerant recharge. Bishop wanted $545 before even quoting the cost of fixing, which is now obvious was done to run up the total cost on an unsuspecting customer. AVOID! I called after seeing this business was highly rated on Google, but I did not check Yelp. I don't normally leave reviews but I figure if it saves someone a headache and $90, then it's worth five minutes of time. On my call, I was notified that there would be a $90 dispatch fee to send someone out - to which I agreed to. Once the technician arrived, he took a quick 30 second glance at the unit, pulled out a tablet, and explained there would be a $454 (FOUR FIFTY FOUR) diagnostic fee. I was upset and told the technician that when I scheduled the appointment, no one mentioned such a large fee over the phone. He said he "doesn't know what scheduling tells people when scheduling appointments". Mind you, this diagnostic fee is before any actual quote is done on a fix. I declined the diagnostic and paid the dispatching $90 fee. This is really shady business behavior. Why would a business not disclose a $454 diagnostic fee when scheduling an appointment? It would have saved me money and time, and could have called one of dozens of other places instead. I could only imagine that it's on purpose, so you would be inconvenienced either by having to call another business or pay their absurd prices. I'm rating based on my overall experience with Bishop Plumbing. I wish I had looked them up on Yelp before I called them, as I would have definitely selected another company. I had only looked at reviews on Google, where Bishop has a very high rating. Unlike Yelp, I believe Bishop is able to curate the reviews themselves and remove all the low reviews. I do not write negative reviews very often, but in this case, I couldn't in good faith let this slip by as I have come to rely on Yelp reviews for home repair service providers. In short, please look elsewhere. I initially called because my whole house humidifier system was not working properly and the number of the company on our water heater was Bishop Plumbing. I had done a little diagnosis myself and it appeared that no water was reaching the humidifier unit. I paid the initial $89 for someone to come diagnose the issue. The technician was not very nice and had like zero personality or sense of humor. Not that I expect that from everyone, but it certainly goes a long way. Once they got to my house, they said that they would have to do a full diagnosis of the furnace and that was another $365, but since he was already here, I figured I'd proceed (in retrospect, I should have just eaten the $89, asked him to leave, and hired a different plumber). After finding nothing wrong with the furnace, he then determined water was not reaching the humidifier (again, which I had already self-diagnosed but he refused to listen to). To replace the fitting that allowed water to splinter off to the humidifier was $1065 (again, I'm sure this is very high, but at this point I was already in too deep). At that point water was getting to this solenoid unit but he thought that component was not working. A new solenoid would cost $435 (for a part that costs $15-30). I just wanted my humidifier to work as I had already paid $1500 into this issue. In the end he replaced the solenoid and water finally flowed to the humidifier but the humidifier was still not working properly. At that point he said he could keep working but it would cost even more and by then, I was just done. I had spent over $2000 and the issue I originally called about was still not really resolved. It just kept feeling like I was being upsold at every moment. To get them to keep working through the problem would cost another $400, or another $1000 and so on. I am still very disappointed in myself that I did not ask them to walk after I gave them that initial $89. This was an expensive lesson I learned and I hope I can prevent anyone else from ever having learn it the way I did. Just sheer amount of negative reviews on Yelp should give you an indication of the experience you will have with this company. read more

Do your research on flat rate fee schedules. My mom was charged $1,200 to replace the inner workings of her toilet. The replacement parts retail for a $100 max. I was quite happy with the service. We had 2 things wrong with our bathroom plumbing; both needing new parts. The technician quickly diagnosed what was wrong and fixed within 90 minutes. He (fortunately) had the parts on his truck. I had Bishop Plumbing come over in the past - but not in about 4 years. For the previous job, they provided me with coupons. Despite being 4 years old, the plumber honored the coupon. I was told about the $80 charge to simply "show up" - yet prices were reasonable, work was flawless, plumber was friendly, and I came in at $500 for 2 separate jobs within the same visit. read more

Horrible place. Charged me 360.00 to send a pscho plumber over who said nothing wrong with the toilet, despite the fact it was running every 6 minutes./. This man sat on my couch for twoenty inutes telling me that if I wasn't a believer, I will regret it in eternity forever. Also went into detail about what a family man he is but then went on to say he hits his kids. He then went on to talk about how he could kill someone by inserting an air compressor under their skin and turning it on. Absolutely disgusting and unprofessional. Finally charged me 360.00 to do nothing. When I called to tell them what they did they offered to send another man out. He said it was a faulty flange and ordered more. After two weeks they came back and installed the flange. They did refund me the money from the visit, but the toilet is still running. They said they could not guarantee their work. Finally called Capps plumbing. They just replaced the entire toilet, which I purchased in March 2024 - (Thanks American Standard - lousy pieces of crap you sell) - as they would not guarantee their work on a different toilet either. My furnace was acting up and I called them. The female on the phone said they will charge 80 for someone to look at it. Guy comes in the door and says 80 is joust for me to drive here. To run diagnostics, it will be additional 180. I told him that I was told that it will be 80 to look at the furnace and he rudely says "I am "looking" at the furnace but to run diagnostics, it will be another 180". Apparently 80 is the dispatch fee 30 minutes in and he is seeking help from someone on the phone. Then calls the furnace company tech support I got them to waive the dispatch fee by the end though 3 days later, I open up my furnace cover and see wire from humidifier is disconnected. The technician who came ran a diagnoses and barely cleaned anything and charged us $403 only to use tell us the problem. Called and they came out the next day to fix a leak from the second floor toilet. The workman was presentable, friendly, and efficient. Two hours later, the leak was fixed. I didn't get any other estimates before agreeing to the work (it was kinda urgent), so I can't speak to how reasonable the prices are, but the company was very professional. I will say that, for the amount of time that it took to finish the job and the fact that it mostly required sealant, the cost did seem quite high. Had some backup issues upstairs, it was the weekend. I use bishop for heating for the last 15 years and thought I try for plumbing. It was the weekend so I was ready for a big charge. I was ok with the initial charge. I was not OK for 1200 dollars for 45 minutes of work + the show upcharge. The problem ended up being a simple rodding of the shower. They work on a flat fee structure. They are responsive and let you know the fees upfront, I signed off on the fees, but I was already into it for so much, I felt like I had to keep signing off on each problem the cost kept adding up. Then took the AC unit apart to tell us what we already knew. Then present an outrageous quote for a replacement with no detail other than they would use the existing lines. The price is ridiculous. We paid $400 just for some one to come out and run a diagnostic on our hot water heater. They ignored the code flashing on the unit and said it was something else. They didn't any of the parts to fix it right then and verify that was the issue. We got the part ourselves and changed it out. It didn't fix anything. So water heater was still broken and we weren't any closer to fixing it. We called a different company, they addressed the issue of the code flashing and that worked. I wish I'd seen this first! Ludicrously expensive! No one else charges to come out if they do the work, only when they diagnose & then you use that information to get someone else. Most don't charge at all, it's called labor. Last year quoted close to $2000 to remove & install toilet because" no one else would do it right" and $80 guesstimate before in door. I'm sure they know before sent how much such a straightforward task would be. Others tell you about how much before you hire them. Was actually so easy just color change, the next place said $90 no service fee over phone, so we had them do other things in various rooms & outside. I called these criminals years ago and I was just watching a segment on home repair fraud so I decided to update my review. I needed a kitchen faucet replaced and I unfortunately didn't read the reviews on this company. They charge the fee to come out which you have to pay whether or not they do the work. They came out and assessed the faucet and told me it was upwards of a thousand dollars to replace. I declined their services and still had to pay the fee for coming out. I found an honest plumber to do the work for a fraction of the cost. I am convinced they make most of their money off that fee. If you go house to house, do an assessment, and nobody hires you because of your outrageous prices, you effectively collect revenue from all of these people while putting out no labor. My review has two parts. First review is of the plumber, Jeff that came out. He was great. He was kind, courteous, professional, and did a great job both fixing a burst pipe, and then coming back to replace the water heater that was damaged by the flood from the burst pipe. If Jeff were his own company, he would have 5 stars. However, the office has some issues. We know we called in a high-traffic time, as there were many burst pipes and plumbing emergencies in the area, but they promised that they would come out between 9-12. I had my mom waiting for the plumber, as I had to be at work. At 12, I reached out to find out where they were, and they said they were running a few hours behind. So she waited. After a few hours, they called to reschedule for the following day. They did waive the dispatch fee, but that still did not make up for the whole day she spent waiting. Also, I needed 2 invoices for the 2 services I had. The office was supposed to email it to me following the service calls. I had to call the office several times, and they made it seem like I was asking them to email me the secret to the universe. It took over a week to get (sort of) what I needed. Finally, we discovered after the fact that what they charged us was more than double what other companies would have charged for the same service. We used them because they were available in an emergency, and were happy with the work. However, if it is not an emergency, do research and ask around regarding prices. read more
