The chicken and waffles are outstanding: delicately crispy, light Belgian waffle sprinkled with just the right amount of cinnamon and powdered sugar and two pieces of piping hot, spicy fried chicken. This place was busy when we got there but we placed it to go order and they took care of our order in about 10 minutes. We got two of the breakfast sandwiches on the biscuits with cheese and egg and both were absolutely delicious. The name of this place clearly identifies what they're doing correctly, the biscuits! There were no additional frills or special qualities about this breakfast sandwich except for the fact that it is just done right! The service here is great. Super friendly and laid back but efficient. I'm from the south so I pride myself in knowing a good biscuit when I taste one. I didn't think they were bad but I didn't think they were amazing. They were super soft and borderline gooey. The fruit bowl was fresh. They have some interesting choices on the menu. Monday holiday morning with a baby, early enough nothing else was open. Service was great. Definitely where the locals go to gossip - we learned a lot about island politics in the hour we were there. My wife got the Norman omelette, which she thought was fine. Came with some biscuits - not that big, she said a bit soggy, and not otherwise impressive, especially considering it's the name of the place. I had twisted stuffed cream cheese French toast w chocolate chips. It wasn't huge and all the cheese and chips were focused in the middle, though easy to smear around. Totally solid. Considering you're normally given enough food for 3 ppl, I appreciated the human-sized portions, though smaller than typical. Side of bacon and egg: good. Spending a weekend in Oak Bluffs, biscuits was just steps away from my hotel - so I did eat here twice. The waitstaff is awesome. They hustle. I ate cod cake eggs Benedict both times, and while the flavors were mostly there the hollandaise was broken and gelatinous - obviously not homemade. I would have been embarrassed as a chef to send that out. The first time we arrived we sat at a table that looked like 12 toddlers ate a bucket of graham crackers under our table. Great food. Fast turn over, but not too fast that you feel like you're getting kicked out the door. The servers all work together to make sure you're well taken care of. I loved my chicken biscuits and gravy. The gravy was really tasty. I also got a side of bacon that I didn't care for. It was so thin it seemed like microwaveable bacon. I prefer thick cut, but to each it's own. The toast that came with my boyfriends omelette was very large and perfectly toasted. His omelette on the other hand was too small. He was glad he got half a biscuits and gravy to fill him up. He also let me try his weird looking potatoes. They look really weird, but this is definitely a don't judge a book by its cover situation. Got the linguisa hash and bacon cakes. The hash cane with two over easy eggs and 2 slices (4 halves) of toast. The bacon cakes were essentially 3-4 pancakes that had a piece of bacon in it. Overall the food was pretty good and I'd get again. The iced coffee was good too. Reason why I'm giving four stars and not five is because they offer a large menu with linguisa hash but no normal corned beef hash. read more

They were not hot or even warm, they weren't even good store bought frozen biscuits. The other food was ok but not anything I expected as this being the Vineyard. The owners were nice, the staff was nice but busy. This is a SMALL place with an ok view. it is a little tight inside but I wont go back. Space is limited, seemed to be a lot of workers coming in for to go orders which puts you lower. Very disappointed. read more

This is so good!The chicken is cooked perfectly and the biscuits are fluffy and delicious with a gravy.Their homemade cinnamon are fluffy with the perfect pair of icing.The waffles were fluffy and had a generous helping of whipped cream and berries (if you get with berries) On the other hand the breakfast wrap was a bit too eggy and it could use a little more meat.The bacon there was a little chewy for my taste but was cooked perfectly.Overall this was a great place for a family breakfast! I mean, this place is called "Biscuits." Even if it were to serve awful food, that name would be worth at least two stars alone. Luckily, the food here is good enough to warrant its own bounty of stars. Went here for breakfast on a recent day trip to MV (oh, how New Englander-breezy I sound!). It was a little after 10:00 on a Friday morning in August, so there was definitely a queue building up outside (this place is pretty small, so the line forms on the stairs/ramp outside). We put our names on the list for a table and were told it'd be a 15 minute wait, but about two minutes later they called us in. Our table was in the middle of the main room of Biscuits (oh, wow, "room of biscuits"... going to my happy place now), and with the waitstaff hopping to and fro around us carrying towering plates of chicken-and-waffles and pancakes and eggs and whatnot, it was a little like eating in the middle of Grand Central Station... only pleasant and with more old-timey signage on the walls. I got a good ol' Western omelet with a biscuit and homefries, which were actually more like entire little potatoes. The omelet was sufficient if not mind-blowing, but the fries were crispy, spicy bites of awesomeness and the biscuit was melt-in-your mouth heavenly. My dining companion got a biscuit, grits, and a crab cake, and she also had good reports for everything. The total for the two of us came to about $17 with food and beverages, which really isn't bad for a super tourist-popular island joint. If you're looking to start your day in Oak Bluffs with some tasty, down-home-style food, give Biscuits a go. read more

One of the great things about coming to Martha's Vineyard in September is this: no lines at Biscuit. We came here for breakfast on a blustery and cool morning to a nearly empty restaurant and seated ourselves by the window. Soon we had beautiful plates of their famous biscuits and gravy in front of us, served along with scrambled eggs, some bacon and home fries. It was a heavy meal, no doubt about it but it was so good. The biscuits are creamy and just melt in your mouth along with the gravy. There's something about this place- maybe the way the wait staff smile at you slyly knowing you're trying the biscuits for the first time and you will become addicted, or the locals sitting nearby greedily devouring their plates without the throngs of tourists getting in their way. This was one of the places that seemed to be great for breakfast/lunch when you get to the Vineyard at 10 am or so. Not so much! There were four of us. We put in our names and waited 25 minutes for a table. (BYW, they won't seat you unless your whole party is there when they call your name.) We ordered pretty general breakfast food from the menu including a daybreak special and a breakfast wrap. 30 minutes later it became clear that something it happened with our order. So we finally flagged down the waiter and said what about our order? He looked completely confused and then said oh your food will be coming shortly. We then watched as it was clear he had forgotten to put in our order and the manager of the restaurant had noticed our interchange. We received our food in very short order after that with multiple people coming to our table saying do you ladies have it you need? The manager came and apologized for the delay. My meal was not what I asked for, in particular the eggs were not cooked the way I asked. Also, the food was just ok, with the exception of the home fries. They were great! Everyone else's meal was good. I would've thought that that kind of a mistake and delay would have earned us at least some discount on the price, but NO. Man. I need to pay attention. How in the heck did I miss this place! Biscuits has one of the best breakfasts around. They have the Biscuits breakfast with two huge biscuits, two eggs any style, their version of home fries which are awesome. It also comes with you choice of meat. I have yet to be able to finish this breakfast because it's so much food. The other food choices all look great too including the old chicken and waffles and steak and eggs. I can't imagine how good that must be. The place is small so be patient and prepared to wait 20 minutes for a table if you get there after 9am on weekends. The owner makes a point to say hello to everyone and help out the waitstaff when it's busy. The restaurant is clean and is located in downtown Oak Bluffs next to a moped rental shop.
