It is believed that in the year 1965, the famous Buhari Hotel in India created the dish known as Chicken 65. Since I was also Est. in '65, which is also the first year of us Gen-Xrs, then Biryani Pot's Chicken 65 version could "totally " be described as "da bomb." We ordered the C'65 as an appetizer and it was very tasty. It was spicy enough to get my head tingling, while at the same time make my brows sweat. This made me want even more of it. For the main courses, the Butter Chicken was my choice and wifey went with the Tandoori Chicken. Both were solid entrees. The thick Butter Chicken sauce was delicious and the intense steam coming off the serving platter made the Tandoori appealing right from the start. Throw in a side of Biryani rice and Garlic Nan and we felt like we were back in India dining somewhere off in a street corner. The inside dining room is modest at best and the service was friendly, which adds to the overall experience. read more

I really like Biryani Pot. I always get an authentic experience. I went on Friday with my Indian friend and this time around she approved that everything served is up to standard comparing it to authentic Indian cooking. However the service was ok simply because I had to ask the server to clean the booth it had water and drinks spilled all over it. He cleaned my side and didn't clean the other side. Until my friend came and got gum stuck to her pants. I get it this is unusual and very disrespectful from the previous diners but still I think it is the waiter responsibility to clean the table and booth after each customer. They were very apologetic and honestly didn't know how to make up for it It is always a fun experience going to this restaurant. Specially they have the cane sugar juicing machine. We ordered it and half of the restaurant was standing there watching them make it Also I tried a new style of biryani Gongura biryani it was delicious. Overall this restaurant is still getting my five stars except of this incident which I read more

Where do I start?? I ordered the Palak paneer, samosas and butter naan. What I received was fried to death samosas. Over fried to the point that the samosas were hard as rocks and the stuffing was barely noticeable. Unfortunately, I did not receive the entree I ordered The naan however was very good. There are so many Indian cuisine restaurants in this area that, I won't be coming back. read more

I've been wanting Indian food but wanted to try a new place besides Simi's, India Palace, India Kitchen or Tandoori Palace and looked up restaurants on Google maps in the Medical Center/USAA/UTSA area which might as well be considered Little India and found this restaurant. I walked inside and was acknowledged even though the host said nothing to me and sat me at a table. I was browsing the menu deciding what to order. A table not far from me ordered tandoori chicken that was steaming so much the smoke was irritating my eyes. While the chicken looked delicious, I wanted something else like their house special curry goat, naan and an Indian soda called Thumsup served in a small narrow can akin to a Red Bull but tasted nothing like an energy drink and rather more like a knockoff RC Cola or Pepsi. Minutes later my food arrives. The curry goat had a lot of bones but the meat was tender and fell off easily when I had cut it and they were generous with the naan serving. The curry goat was served with the right amount of spice like I had requested. I would highly recommend Biryani Pot and plan to get the tandoori chicken on my next visit. read more

Biryani Pot remains the undisputed champ of our weekly rotation. The Vijaywada Chicken Biryani is elite--the spice profile is complex and the chicken is always tender. We always opt for the Family Pack because the portion size is unbeatable for the price. We pair it with the Chicken 65, which is crispy, spicy, and addictive. If you haven't tried their Vijaywada style yet, you're missing out on some of the best heat in the city. read more

Food was so so so good. 10/10. I love the naan & butter chicken! One of the best Indian spots in SA.

We went here by recommendation from a friend and we enjoyed it. It was a little warm in the restaurant, we think the air conditioner was broken. The staff was kind and the food came out quickly. I appreciate how rice came with our dishes. The food was piping hot and fresh. We got chicken tikka masala and chicken Manchurian. read more

Biryani Pot is hands down the best Indian restaurant in San Antonio. As someone who constantly craves authentic Indian food, I've been a loyal customer here for several years, and they have never let me down. While many new restaurants have opened with fancy furniture, lighting, and ambiance, often serving on disposable plates with flies around, Biryani Pot stands out for its consistency and quality every single time. The place may not be flashy, but it's always decent, clean, and most importantly, the AC is always working--which makes dining comfortable. What really makes them shine is their economical and reliable live catering services. I've used them for many events, and they are always open to creating new dishes and ideas, implementing them beautifully. For my mom's birthday party at home, they went above and beyond--everything was made fresh from scratch. The tomato soup was outstanding, the salads (which I usually never crave) were so refreshing, the sandwiches were delicious, the guacamole was spot on, and the fried rice was simply superb. Their focus has always been on customer satisfaction, and it shows in every interaction. No matter how many new restaurants pop up in town, people always come back to Biryani Pot for their party orders and catering needs because they are both economical and consistent. Highly recommend them for both dine-in and catering--you'll never be disappointed! Most of the items posted here were for party order and would not be on the regular menu. read more

I was so happy to return after seeing that they had improved their health inspection score. They truly have the best tasting Gobi Manchurian. I took my 15 month old daughter here for lunch around 12:30pm on a Tuesday. We were greeted immediately when we walked in and the server got us a high chair. He was extremely friendly and even made my daughter laugh. My daughter LOVES Indian food so I was so excited to bring her here for authentic Indian food. We ordered the chicken tikka masala and garlic naan and it came out very fast. She really loved it and I loved it! We asked for a to go box and they gave me a to go bowl with a lid along with foil for the naan and a to go box and a bag. It was great and nothing spilled on the ride home. I was grateful to the staff for being so accommodating to us since she is a baby and not always the quietest at restaurants. The staff was very kind and the food is amazing. I went to Biryani Pot earlier today with some coworkers to celebrate a coworker. It's not too big inside but still large enough for groups. We beat the lunch crowd in so it was not crowded when we got there. We were seated promptly and attended to for the entirety of our lunch. I had onion samosas, chicken biryani, and a chai. The food was really good but spicy! Now, I am a wimp when it comes to spicy so ..... I had a chai after eating and it too was delicious. I also enjoyed the licorice dish after lunch which helps to freshen your mouth. We had a great time, the service was fast and attentive, and the food was great! Ordered takeout for dinner and it was pretty good! The food was ready within 20 minutes, which is pretty quick. I got the chili paneer, gobi Manchurian, vegetable noodles, and mango lassi. Their chili paneer is absolutely delicious! I give it a 10/10! The spicy flavors were really good and it's mixed with bell peppers and onions and wow that's my favorite dish to order here. The gobi Manchurian was decent, not the best I've had. I think it's better to order it fresh and eat it immediately versus taking it home where it gets soggy. It did have a nice spicy flavor which I liked. I love eating the gobi manchurian with the vegetable noodles (I've been doing it since I was a kid and highly recommend). The noodles here are really tasty with crunchy vegetables mixed in. read more

Best Indian food in San Antonio. I said what I said. This is my go to always. They have never done me wrong.

Love this place, food is always good with great portions! Lunch special is my "go to" so much variety and goodness for the price.

We got the goat curry ($14), chicken biryani ($14) and garlic naan ($4). We had to wait for 20+ minutes for our food to come out. It was Sunday lunch. The restaurant wasn't that full, but they might have been working on to-go orders. The inside ambiance is home-y. The default spice level is mild/medium. We asked to bump it up one level of spice (still the second spiciest)! It was pretty spicy. We were definitely feeling it after the meal, but it was yummy! The goat curry had a lot of flavor. I liked the white sauce with the chicken biryani. That provided some tanginess and coolness to the spice. The garlic naan was so crispy, you can even see air pockets in it! read more

Found pieces of plastic in my favorite gongura mutton at my go-to Indian spot. Who needs spices when you can have an extra crunch, right? We have tried this place few years back on our visit to san antonio and wanted to try their biryani again. We got there by 6:30pm and place was already busy. They had one table to be cleared and we got seated. We had to flag them down for everything from there, menu, water, silverware. Food was the only thing that came fast to the table. Fried Corn Pepper was very good! Veg Biryani and Goat Biryani were ok! Paneer tikka and butter naan were great! Service is a big minus and has to be improved a lot! Biryani's were meh! We will not going back again( not for dine in atleast) read more

I've been coming here for years! The food is always tasty. The service is quick, the only thing is the waiting staff tend to hang around the waiting room and forget to ask you if you want drink refills. Depending on the spice level you got your meal at you may definitely need more water! The ambiance is nice. read more

Ordered the chicken lunch special for takeout, and I think there's no better deal for indian food in the area. The food was delicious, and there's an amazing amount of variety in the lunch special (daal, curries, roti, tandoori chicken, biryani rice, sauces, even a small dessert). Each component was great and I can hardly nitpick for the price and the large portion. The employee who took my order on the phone was efficient, and picking up my order was easy. It will be easy to come back here! read more

Food is not bad but service and attitude is very bad. It was my birthday, and we had about 13 guests I ordered chicken biryani, butter chicken, chicken 65, and fried spiced corn. We are Hispanic, and this isn't the food that was expected. It was a hit! The rumors are true!!! Full of flavor and delicious. I got four things. Only liked 2/4 dishes but the ones that I liked were so good it deserves 4 stars. Butter chicken - tasted like chicken tikka masala at other places. The flavors were strong and delicious. This is my favorite! My other favorite was the chicken biryani. It was so good!!! . For once they didn't downplay the spice for the Texan palate. I don't know why but the smell of star abuse in this dish reminds me of pho. Which is maybe why I think this is so delicious. Or just love Indian food in general. Chicken vindaloo - not my favorite. It's a tomato base but a bit too tangy for my liking. Very tangy and sour. Very dissimilar to India palace. To solve this issue I added yogurt and some cream and that did the trick!! Bagara Baingan - this is my least favorite. I like baingan baharta. This is not the same thing. It's a sesame peanut base sauce. The eggplants were small and few. I think next time I see these ingredients for an eggplant dish I'm going to steer clear. There are similar dish like this at other Indian restaurants and they all taste similar and I usually don't like it. So I think this is the last time I will order something like this. Would definitely be coming back to try other dishes! read more

The moment you walk in, you smell a world of delicious spices. I haven't seen Indian food featured on Iron Chef yet, but this is what I'd expect the judges would be eating if it were. Every bite was flavorful and hit the spot! I had the Korma curry and the buttered and regular naan. My husband who is one of the pickiest eaters I've ever known took me here as a treat because I love Indian food, he does not and he LOVED his food (Kadai Chicken). The mango lassi is a MUST by the way! Mengstab is the name of the wizard who made them. I asked for his name to put him on the review because they were THAT good. 10/10 recommend this place!
