Highly recommend the thali and the Gobi 65 and the puri. The puri were fresh and not stale. The Samosa chat not so much. It was all tough bread, no potato in the Samosa and it was very hard. Even the toppings didn't soften it. This trip didn't have any jeera cookies, which are my favorites. And they do not have ice for the drinks. This is my go to Indian restaurant when I venture out by myself. It feels more like a cafe style with a chill vibe. I have not ordered one thing that I didn't enjoy. However, this is from someone who greatly enjoys Indian cuisine and not familiar with authenticity. That said, the majority of customers were Southern Asians (it was absolutely packed on a Saturday evening) and that's always a great sign. We did have to wait 30mins for our dine-in food (were told 10mins when ordering), but this was possibly due to the large number of takeouts. Ordering: at contactless screen or through the cashier. Food: brought to the tables, however extra paper plates, utensils and drinks are all self serve. Parking: limited, since it is shared with multiple businesses, and tight so beware of poor drivers who don't know how to park well! This place quite literally opened up maybe 2 weeks ago, and I'm so happy that they did! They have a wide variety to choose from & even offer combos to make things easier for you. According to my dad, their Chaat dishes are good too! For those who don't know, chaat are South Asian snacks, usually savory, which is what this place is known for (hence the name)! We got the Paneer Tikka Masala combo (comes w roti, rice and raita), Butter Chicken, Chili Gobi,Vijayawada Chicken Dum Biryani, & Bhel Puri. We loved everything that we got. A few notes however: -be sure to check spice levels when ordering! I'm used to eating spicy food but the chicken app on top of the Biryani was a bit too spicy for me. I was really disappointed with my visit to Pastries N Chaat. I ordered from UberEats, planning to pick up and go hang out at a friend's house. The app said my order would be ready by 6:15. I arrived at PnC at 6:00pm and let them know I was there. I sat down in their spacious dining area and couldn't help but notice how messy the place was. The trash was overflowing (a guy later came out and pressed it down with his hands instead of changing the bag), and the floors beneath the tables were littered with food scraps. Looking at the menus hanging from the wall, you can order family-size combos of their entrees. It looks like a pretty good deal for a family looking to enjoy Indian cuisine. They also have a nice offering of layered cakes, though the display case they were in was pretty scary. After 15 minutes of waiting, the woman working the counter came to tell me that my chicken dum (bone-in chicken) biryani would take another 20-25 minutes if they started making it now, but that the boneless would only take 10 minutes. I opted for the boneless biryani and called my friend to tell them I would be really late. What annoyed me was that as I was sitting there waiting, the notification on my UberEats order said my order was ready for pickup. Hardly. I had been here for now 20 minutes already, and they hadn't even started my entrees. Just something to be mindful of if you plan to order on an app. It took another 30 minutes to get my food. I texted the friend to tell her I'd see her another time. The chicken biryani that I waited for had 5 pieces of chicken in it and an obscene amount of rice to cover up the fact that I had a thigh and a half of meat. The flavor itself was mildly spicy, but nothing that blew me away. Tarka (the Indian Chipotle) has better biryani, which made me sad to think. The raita that comes with the meal looked curdled. It was unlike anything I'd ever seen before with raita. It tasted that way, too. Though previous reviews had me excited to try the roti, I found it was way too oily, dense, and cold for me to enjoy it. The mango lassi I ordered tasted good, but it was tepid and not cold as it should be. It also seemed to be watered down, but the flavor didn't reflect that. The shrimp 65- shrimp in a spicy red sauce- wasn't cooked through. Undercooked shrimp has an almost gummy texture and this was barely reaching that point. I stopped eating it immediately. At this point in my meal, the place was packed with families. I waited to get someone's attention to tell them about my issues. Still, there really wasn't a point in waiting any longer because it was a busy Friday night. I think I visited on a bad day, but I don't know that I'll return between the lack of cleanliness, the lengthy wait, and the underwhelming food. read more

I was driving in Med Center area and was actually looking for a bakery to cure my sweet tooth. The other bakery in the same plaza was not open so I peered around the corner and found Pastries N Chaat. I've had Indian desserts before but had not known they made pastries. As soon as I stepped inside, I saw many Indian nationals and knew this was seriously authentic. The cakes were beautifully decorated and just calling out to me then I saw the plethora of Indian foods from the puff pastries in front of me to the extensive menu selections available. I had never had Indian pizza before and was intrigued briefly since it was Pi Day today. I got the mango cake, double chocolate cake, rasmalai cake made of cottage cheese, and eggless black forest cake. I gave away the mango and double chocolate cakes so I didn't get to taste those but I had a bite of rasmalai and eggless black forest cake. Both are light and delicious. I didn't miss the eggs! I ordered 1 vegetarian puff and 1 chicken puff. The vegetarian puff was very flavorful like a samosa and didn't need the sauces. My husband had the chicken puff with the tamarind and green spicy sauce and like them. Even though dinner was waiting at home, I had to get the chicken tikka masala with the rice and roti. It's been a while since I've had this. We've been to Indian food buffets which are ok. My former manager in Manila was from India and his wife cooked authentic Indian food so I've had the best of the best. I was pretty full from drinking the mango lassi that I could only eat a couple of bites of the chicken tikka masala. Such great flavor! Looking forward to eating the leftover tomorrow! I'm from Houston, a huge food hub especially with Pakistani and Indian cuisine. Their lassi was out of this world, you can taste the kick of elaichi/green cardamom and the freshness of the mango. The cake is moist and definitely tastes like rasmalai. It's pretty impressive. There was no artificial taste coming through. The chaat was some solid chaat too. The menu equally caters to vegetarians and omnivores, with vegans in mind as well. Prices are extremely reasonable and portion is very good. The service there is friendly and the cashier even came over to make sure I got my entire order. Mild and medium are very good spice levels.
