It's a hit or miss. The food never tastes the same and prices have gone up and are absolutely ridiculous. For what the prices are the food isn't worth it at all. I have never paid this much for Indian food and I am an avid traveler and have and continue to try Indian food all over the country. The food was edible, but after I requested mild heat for the spiciness, the spices they put on the food made it inedible. Thé ambiance was not noticeable aside from the constant barrage of Indian videos playing on all the tvs mounted on the walls. The true downfall of this restaurant was the complete and total lack of service. The families that were Indian or of apparent Indian descent had no trouble getting their food, but it took our waiter nearly 20 mins to greet us and provide menus and an additional 45 mins for only half our food to arrive. We found absolutely NO redeeming qualities that a positive recommendation could be based upon. Quite the contrary, we found every reason to issue a warning to anyone considering having Indian cuisine. Whatever you do, avoid this restaurant. read more

I love this place. The food is preceded by an amazing aroma as you walk in. The dishes are all super flavorful and really tasty. The mango smoothie is a must try. The wait staff are great. We initially had intended to go elsewhere and just sort of ended up here. The interior was a bit cafeteria-esque, which didn't exactly inspire (except for the excellent Bollywood entertainment on tv, which I will take any day over sports or news). There seemed to be a buffet, but it was empty, perhaps because it was the weekend. Maybe this was a good thing, though. It sounds like other reviewers are divided on the buffet offerings. Comparatively, this was the best Indian experience I've had in a long time. Perhaps ever. (I've been to a few of Indian restaurants in Austin, for comparison.) The garlic naan, first of all--I crave it. I'm back home in Austin and regularly order naan locally only to be disappointed. It simply does not compare to the fluffy, hot, delicious stuff I had at Biryani Pot. My sister's palaak paneer was great. My curry (I unfortunately can't remember which I had) was amazing. My tikka masala-obsessed partner said it was the best he'd had. My brothers both chose spicy dishes, which the host (I believe the owner?) warned was a lot, and they should have listened. Both struggled to get through even small portions of the stuff. It was delicious, but intense. I'm a big fan of samosas, and these were among the better ones I've had. Perfectly spiced, nice and flaky, soft on the inside but not mushy. My sister got gulag jamun (?), which were delicious (as they always are). I ordered a dessert I thought was familiar to me, but which ended up being a prepackaged ice cream..? That was confusing and unexpected, but at least it was good ice cream. I'll let it slide. Portions and prices were very good, and the service was attentive, friendly, and unrushed (in a good way). I'll be making a trip back next I'm in town. read more

Great new local spot in town. I have tried a few dishes, the chicken biryani, chicken tikka masala, chicken 65 and gongora chicken. All were fabulous. You can adjust the spice level: mild, medium or spicy. The food is bursting with flavor and nice addition to the various cuisines in Mobile. Highly recommend!! The owner is very personable, they are opening a grocery store as well on the other end of the restaurant. read more

Today we tried the newly opened Biryani Pot for lunch. WOW!! Delicious Indian food! The plain naan is slightly charred, crispy/chewy and this bread lovers dream come true. This place so exceeded our expectations in quality and friendliness. Their kitchen is currently open for take out only, but the space has been beautifully remodeled. Covid 19 and the usual delays of opening a new restaurant have put them a bit behind schedule, but you cannot tell by the food. We got the tandoori chicken and rice lunch special. So much flavor....and a lil heat Looking forward to trying their full menu soon. The mango lassi was perfectly sweet and tangy. We also tried a dessert. Double Ka Meetha is like bread pudding, but better with butter. The restaurant is located on Downtowner just off of Airport. They also have a small well stocked grocery store. read more

The first time we went here, we were blown away by how good it was - surprisingly good food for such an inauspicious location, with decent service. So a month or so later, we went again and couldn't have been more disappointed. The food was terrible; totally lacking in flavor and extremely salty. We all requested medium spice but what we got wasn't even close to mild. Moreover, much of what we got was lukewarm at best The service was indifferent. A lack of attention in general and when the food came, he just plonked it down and we were left to figure out what was what. To make matters worse, the music was very (VERY) loud and then they put a film on the televisions that contained sickeningly gratuitous violence. I asked them to switch that off, which they did. Overall, the food was poor, the service was bad and the ambience unpleasant. Based on how good it was the first time, we'll probably give it another go, but if it is a repeat of this experience, we're done with this place. read more

I moved to Mobile from Chicago back in October. I love this city. I work in the restaurant/bar industry in downtown (Las Floriditas) and live walking distance to downtown. I've learned to appreciate the food culture. But with that said, I miss the food from back home. We are spoiled in Chicago. The ethnic food is superb. There's a whole Indian community in Chicago at Devon Ave around Western Ave. And in La Grange, IL. Where I spent the last 6 years of me being there, there's a restaurant called Kama Bistro. The place is superb and has been around for many years in that town. I loved their food. It's Indian fine dining and the restaurant is gorgeous. That being said, I was very impressed with this new Indian restaurant. Everything I ate tasted fresh, tasted the real indian spices, the love, the craft. I got the Vegetable Samosa, Lamb Vindaloo, Shrimp Curry, Garlic Naan, Cheese Naan. Outstanding! I'm going back when they fully open and sit down. I want to keep going and try every dish. If everything I was was that good, I'm sure not to be disappointed. read more

Definitely the best Indian Cuisine in Mobile. The buffet has a fairly good selection, with really great service. Be careful if spicy food isn't your forte. The naan bread tastes really fresh, and you can really tell the food is made with a lot of care. read more

My husband and I were in Mobile running errands and saw signs for this particular Indian Cuisine restaurant. We love Indian food but it is definitely not in variety across the Bay in Baldwin county. It's still tasty. There was no salad at all this time and only one dessert, which was disappointing. Still a lot of rice dishes but the price has been lowered to $15 for the lunch buffet which is great. The service is still sporadic. They had a hard time with our drink order, which was pretty simple, one iced tea and one water. And at any given time there are 3-4 guys just standing around watching everyone eat. They never check to see if you need anything, or clear your plates, they just hover at the counter. Which is very noticeable and a bit off-putting.
