It also had a lovely flavor. The samosas are a bit greasy but absolutely delicious, they come with a sauce I cant put my finger on. Only complaint is that it was definitely expensive. We ordered 2 orders of samosas, 2 chicken dishes, rice and drinks and it came to $60 dollars after a tip.

Chicken bhoona not at all saucy, very thin and rather bland. Has chunks of nearly raw tomato in it. The chicken didn't seem like it was cooked with the sauce for long nor was it pre-seasoned or cooked in a tandoor. Vegetable curry also bland and made with what seems to be a frozen pea/carrot mix, green beans, potato and onion. Who puts green beans in a curry? Rice is good, but it's rice. It's hard to mess that up. Naan is not freshly made and seems to be store bought and then toasted. Too doughy. The lassi was alright but I've had better. The samosas were really really good. Right as of this moment- in Uber deals, they have a 15$ min purchase for 3$ off, so why not? I was intrigued by how the butter chicken is described as spicy (haha- yes lots of flavour but I'd say low on the heat for those who might be sensitive)- after having tried their chicken delight meal (butter chicken, samosa and rice) and an order of vegetable samosas- I can say, simply, wow. I have to give a shout-out to all UberEats+ delivery service drivers rn, despite the difficulties we're facing with this CoronaVirus pandemic- my driver, Kishwar, was also pleasant/incredibly sanitary. After I placed my order- I was a little dismayed seeing an eta of 1hr for the delivery and prayed it would be delicious (it was). The samosa that came with the delight was (I presume) a chicken samosa- which was likely the most moist chicken samosa I've ever had.*slow claps* I often don't go for meat samosas- but was seriously impressed as I find it's a common mistake to slightly overcook them/the meat usually becomes very dry- they aced this (as it had the right amount of moisture). The vegetable samosas were also wonderful- and I was happy to find they have a good tamarind sauce (think sweet and very spicy heat) that you can add on the side, and they even provided enough for all sizeable samosas. Tyty. But the main meal? The butter chicken sauce was really wonderful- little sweet bit creamy tomatoey balance for the spice level (mild/medium). The chicken- again, can sometimes be dry- but this was most definitely not the case. The chicken tender pieces would break down like butter. Again, the most tender chicken I've had for butter chicken dishes. Really felt compelled to give a good review- they totally deserve it since their food is so yummy! Although I had originally been dismayed by the eta (moderate time I suppose)- I was honestly blown away by the food and came here right away to let others know :). We decided to get the vegetarian platter, which came with a good amount of rice, two mains (one with lentils and one with spinach), a tiny, undressed salad, and a small gulab jamun. It's very good food. The flavors in the two mains were quite layered and impressive, and both dishes packed a decent amount of spice. The rice was an excellent vehicle for both dishes, and while I don't understand the point of that salad, the gulab jamun was a perfect way to end the meal. The service was helpful and friendly, and the price was very reasonable (about $15). I'm sure I'll be grabbing food from Karahi Point again soon.

The Long Version: This past summer, walking around the 'hood, I noticed that Honest Indian Restaurant opened up where Tony Capone's Grill used to be. Honest Indian Restaurant is a chain from India that started as a food cart in Ahmedabad in 1975. It has since expanded to Australia, Thailand, the USA, and Canada. This location is the first (and currently only one) in Ottawa. They sell vegetarian Indian food and also Indo-Chinese fusion food. I ducked in and got a Kesar Pista Falooda ($7.99) to go. Staff were very courteous and hospitable. It was a hot day out and they brought me some cold water while I waited for my Falooda to be made. I thought this was a nice gesture. The Falooda was tasty, but much smaller than I expected for $7.99. I asked for no basil seeds, and it came as requested. It had pistachio syrup, vermicelli, crushed pistachio nuts, ice cream, and strands of saffron. It was creamy and rich. I just wished it was colder. The ice cream melted pretty quickly. There is plenty of seating inside to dine in. The restaurant is located in the Carling Mini Mall plaza, so lots of free parking available. I'm looking forward to returning to try some of their Indo-Chinese fusion dishes, especially their Triple Schezwan Fried Rice, which is fried rice with Manchurian, Gobi and Paneer. (211)

The portions were a bit confusing - the Szechwan fried rice and Chinese Bhel cost the same but the bhel was 3x the portion of the fried rice, which was interesting. Other than that, the experience was OK - they were out of the paan and have been for quite some time. When inquired they mentioned they did not get shipments for the right kind of leaf used for the paan. The staff is friendly but service was quite slow, even though we were the last group there. Overall, I liked all the options on the menu and the great variety as well as the fact that they are all vegetarian. But I hope service could have been a bit better and that a lot of the items were not missing :)

It's a bit hidden as it's a kiosk inside a supermarket. I was very disappointed when I first learned that Amma's Biryani closed down permanently at the end of 2025. I had first discovered Amma's Biryani through the Too Good to Go app (an app that reduces food wastage by selling food leftover at the end of the day at a discounted price) and then became a regular customer because their biryani was so delicious. Imagine my surprise when I saw a new vendor on my Too Good to Go app called Biryani Plus in the exact same location that Amma's Biryani was in. Well, I had to give it a try! So I bought a surprise bag for $4.99. I ended up receiving what I think was the Mutton Kabuli Pulao. This regularly sells for $16.99 but I'm sure the regular dish contains a lot more meat because my Too Good to Go portion just had 3 tiny pieces, lol, but I get, it's leftovers for a third of the regular price. The flavour though was phenomenal. The rice had a potent flavour of rich warm spices. It had raisins, carrots, peas and a tiny bit of mutton. The mutton was tender and not too gamey. My only complaint is it was a bit too oily for my tastes, but still delicious. I ended up getting a second Too Good to Go bag from Biryani Plus. This time I received 2 small boxes of Chicken Biryani. Similar to my previous surprise bag, there was very little meat. It was mostly just rice. The flavours of the Chicken Biryani were not as good as the Mutton Kabuli Pulao in my opinion. Service was pleasant. They just opened in January 2026. Lots of parking in the plaza parking lot where Silk Road Foods is. He ordered a bunch of dishes for us: Onion Bhaiji ($5.99), Chicken Pakora ($8.99), Naan ($2.99), Chicken Biryani ($17.99), Butter Chicken ($16.99), Beef Curry ($17.99), Lamb Chana Daal ($17.99), Malai Kofta ($14.99) and basmati rice ($5.99). I went with him to the restaurant to pick up the food. The Onion Bhaiji wasn't as crispy as I had hoped and we found a long black hair partially embedded in one of the pieces o_O People working in the kitchen need to wear hairnets! Luckily, none of the other dishes contained hair. The Chicken Pakora were tasty, but were more like chicken tenders. They were chicken breast strips battered and deep-fried. The Chicken Pakora I've had in the past (in Toronto) were chopped up chicken mixed with batter and rolled into balls and deep-fried. I was expecting something different but I still enjoyed the dish. The naan was soft and fluffy. The basmati rice was nicely cooked. The Chicken Biryani had a decent amount of chicken pieces in it. It was ok, but not as flavourful as I've had elsewhere. The Butter Chicken was phenomenal. One of the best butter chicken dishes I've had. The sauce was so smooth and creamy and I enjoyed the chunks of breast meat. The Beef Curry and Lamb Chana Daal were both incredibly oily. Look at my pictures, so much oil! I liked that the meat was tender and boneless and not gamey tasting, but I couldn't get over the excessive amount of oil. I did like that the Daal wasn't too mushy. The Malai Kofta were too mushy, they weren't firm enough. Although the sauce they were in was tasty. I'm glad I got to try this restaurant. The regular prices are a bit on the high side in my opinion, but I would consider getting the Butter Chicken, Chicken Pakora and naan again if they had another sale. The dine-in space is nice. The atmosphere is casual. Staff were courteous. The cashier almost didn't give my brother the 25% off discount. He noticed she didn't and asked about it. She at first said it was only for the buffet, but then said she'd ask her dad. She called him over and he confirmed, the discount applied to my brother's order and he corrected the bill. He was nice about it, so we were good. Lots of free parking in the plaza parking lot, but the spots are a bit tight and awkward. Five Stars -- The Best Philly Cheesesteak I've Ever Had…read more I just had the best Philly cheesesteak of my life. I don't say that lightly. From the first bite to the last, it was absolute perfection. The steak was unbelievably tender, sliced thin and piled high, cooked just right so every bite was juicy and full of flavour. The cheese? Melted perfectly into every bite, rich and smooth. And the bun... warm, soft, with just the right hint of crispness. It held everything together like a proper cheesesteak should. And here's the part that shocked me: it was better than any cheesesteak I've ever had in Philadelphia -- and I've had plenty. This one sets a whole new benchmark. Every ingredient tasted fresh, every flavour balanced. No shortcuts. No filler. Just pure, delicious craftsmanship. It's the kind of sandwich that makes you stop mid-bite and appreciate what's happening. I can't remember the last time I enjoyed something this much. Each combo includes fries, coleslaw, garlic sauce and a can of pop (although we never got any garlic sauce, but they gave us 9 packets of ketchup (yipee!), since I love ketchup and garlic sauce is usually fattening anyway, I was happy with just the ketchup). The wait is long because they make everything to order. It was about a 20-25 minute wait. The chicken is crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside with a nice hint of flavour. I feel that the chicken is slightly better here than at Zaki's Broast. Broasted chicken is supposed to be less greasy and oily than fried chicken, but I still found it oily. The best broasted chicken I've ever had was at La Hoyo in Halifax which is now closed :( I'm still looking for chicken like that... The fries here are much better than at Zaki's in my opinion. The fries at Laziz are hand cut and lightly seasoned. The coleslaw here is also amazing. It's the creamy type which I usually don't like but I liked Laziz's coleslaw. The dressing is slightly sweet and they use purple and green cabbage, so it looks really colourful. There's a nice crunch to the coleslaw too. The older man who works here is very nice, but the younger guy was really indifferent towards us. The place is clean enough, as are the washrooms. There's sufficient seating and lots of free parking. It's in the same strip mall as the Mark's, Sushi Kan, and Eclipse Asian Cuisine.
