LaMonica is the best in the business, hands down!…read more I'm an overprotective and overly-critical perfectionist, and this was our first non-hospital birth experience. So finding the right midwife to trust with the birth of our child was going to be a challenge any way you look at it. After interviewing multiple midwives, it was not a difficult decision to choose LaMonica. She has a profound amount of knowledge and experience (vastly more than anyone else we spoke with) and has dealt with just about every kind of situation a delivering couple can experience. LaMonica is caring and pleasant and really makes the whole experience very comfortable and relaxed. We very quickly felt as though we were in the capable hands of a good friend who also happened to be a qualified professional! She did an amazing job with the prenatal care, delivery, and post-natal care, knowing when to give us space and when to step in and guide us. I could not have hoped for a better experience! Before I met LaMonica, I had previously had a child via emergency c-section due to being breech and going into distress after a failed ECV. LaMonica was wonderful and incredibly supportive. She cared for me throughout my pregnancies, respected my level of comfort surrounding risk, and understood my fears and anxieties after my first traumatic birth. She helped me and my husband to have the confidence that God created birth as a natural process and he would see us through it. My first home birth was perfect in every way. My second, the transfer to the hospital, I'm convinced would have been born in our driveway had we not planned a homebirth. His birth was precipitous (very fast) and LaMonica recognized right away that he wasn't doing well during contractions and recommended a transfer to the local hospital. She called ahead so that they were expecting me, and had my OB there within minutes. She also stayed with us throughout the birth to support me and my husband. Though it wasn't as we had planned, it was still wonderful. Since I'm no longer having babies, LaMonica has continued to be there whenever I have a question about my cycle, perimenopause, or about my daughter's questions or problems as well. We love her so much!

I have wanted to write our story and experience with Dayspring for several years now... It was a…read moremixed experience. Before I begin I want to emphasize that the families I met who had/have worked with Inga and her staff (many repeat births) LOVE Dayspring. The head midwife Inga Arts truly has a heart for loving on her clients and deep desire to see babies and mommies safely through pregnancy and birth. My family and I chose to use Dayspring Midwifery in 2012 for the birth of our second son. We wanted the "natural birth" experience. The birth center feels like an adorable bed and breakfast. I was sold on it immediately. :) We were reassured multiple times that they had experience working with our insurance and that their services were partially if not mostly covered. For us nothing was covered because the midwives at Dayspring are CPM not CNM's. Double check with your insurance company! At the time we filled out our contract the practice had two midwives. However, during our pregnancy one of them abruptly left for "personal reasons". We were assured that this would not influence the level of care we received but honestly it did. Though our prenatal care was excellent, the week I was due the remaining midwife Inga left suddenly for a family function. After choosing a birth center mainly for the personal care, relationship and the natural birth experience having our midwife leave was understandable but also deeply disappointing. I was still new to natural, drug-free birth so a little petrified; upset to be left with a stranger. At 40 weeks pregnant the stress was horrible. We so appreciated that the substitute midwife drove several hours to meet with us and put our hearts more at rest. She was very kind. I was so excited for our birth center experience and we had an incredible birth just shy of 42 weeks! The day I went into labor Dayspring was kind enough to get me in for an ultrasound to check fluid levels at no cost. So appreciated! After my labor began we drove to the birth center and Inga met us there right away. I was able to move freely and labored with little discomfort throughout the night and next morning. Baby came out beautifully. Sadly I then had a rare retained placenta situation and needed a transfer to the hospital for an emergency D&C. At Kootenia Hospital in Coeur d'Alene my family was treated terribly as "transfers from a birth center". I pray no one is ever treated the way my family was by Kootenia. I on the other hand was treated exceptionally well by all the doctors, anesthesiologists and nurses and am deeply grateful for the care of Dr Cutter who was very gentle in his retrieval of my placenta so that any future pregnancies would not be affected. THANK YOU Dr Cutter. After our birth/hospital transfer Inga was very overwhelmed with multiple births elsewhere and I didn't see her. It may sound silly, but after the traumatic experience we went through I missed out on my post birth meal and herbal bath. As I was still trying to process all that had happened and was very sick for several months it would have meant SO much to me to have had Inga personally provide these experiences and love. I felt unimportant and forgotten when I was sent a student midwife to see after my post birth care. Our Dayspring baby visits after the birth were wonderful and we felt that our little one was quite adored and well cared for. Due to my placenta issue we will have to seek future care in hospital. That being said...I would have a natural birth again in a heartbeat. :)

But as I got to know her, I quickly realized that we were on the same page about so many things, and I decided to put my trust in her. That trust turned out to be one of the best decisions I've ever made. When it was time to have my baby, Victoria stepped up in a way I will never forget. She took charge, guided me, encouraged me, and helped me bring my baby into the world safely and confidently. She was truly an angel in disguise. I had been labeled "high risk" by Western medicine, and that label came with a lot of stress and fear. Victoria never made me feel like a diagnosis or a problem to manage. She saw me. She listened to me, cared for me, explained things to me, and gave me reassurance when I needed it most. With her support, I was able to have the beautiful water birth I had hoped for, and everything went smoothly. Then came pregnancy number three. After my previous experiences with being labeled high risk and feeling overwhelmed by the stress of traditional OB care, I knew exactly where I wanted to turn. I chose Victoria again. And once again, she showed up for me. She monitored me, cared for me, answered my questions, calmed my fears, and helped me feel confident throughout my pregnancy. When my water broke and my contractions needed a little encouragement, Victoria came through with her home made concoction and knowledge. Again successful waterbirth. I would definitely recommend!

They are very professional at how they handle each situation that has arose in both pregnancies from blood clots to being unable to breastfeed. We were heartbroken and feeling defeated especially after they gave us a large list of things we needed to complete to begin the IVF process. However, Dr. Houmard and the wonderful nursing staff gave us hope that we could be successful. Their messaging service was great and connected us to nurses/financial specialists/the billing department in an incredibly simple way. They got back to us and worked hard to answer all of our questions as quickly as possible. We also consistently talked to the same nurse so she got to know us and our story which helped us feel seen while so many other medical offices did not. We really appreciated how Dr. Houmard and her team balanced the clinical information and statistics with a genuine sense of hope. We heard some hard truths and based on percentages, decided to use my (slightly younger) wife's eggs to create our embryos. I am currently 15 weeks pregnant and incredibly hopeful that this little baby will make it into our world. When we began the idea of reciprocal IVF felt like an unattainable dream but thanks to Pinnacle, that dream is coming true.
