To Whom it May Concern,
I had a very disturbing occurrence with one of your providers treating our daughter yesterday and her father and I would like a response to these concerns in writing as soon as possible.
I was there with my daughter and as we were relating her medical history and during her exam, the provider made comments and suggestions that were inappropriate for a medical encounter.
1) He offered leading questions three times asking if her neurological symptoms occurred in concurrence with her COVID vaccines and stated "because they can do that, you know." Although he gave no context, I assumed, as a medical provider, that he meant Guillain-Barre syndrome. I told him repeatedly that the symptoms did appear after what is assumed to be a viral illness but not any vaccinations. I stated, that we know it might be Guillain-Barre, but there was no use in getting a lumbar puncture or an electromyogram now as they are invasive and would not affect treatment decisions.
2) He asked if she'd been symptomatic "before the Wuhan Lab Virus" which I just found to be ignorant, racist, and unprofessional. I don't need to know about a provider's crackpot conspiracy theory beliefs. I half expected him to tell us that Jews ran the media.
3) When he and my daughter were amiably discussing the merits of Arby's French fries, I was asked my opinion and mentioned I cannot have them as I have Familial Hypercholesterolemia. He inquired how high my lipids were and told me I shouldn't take statins, ever. When I mentioned that my +500 triglycerides and +300 LDL when not treated were not compatible with long term survival, he tried to correct me by saying "well not really" which I found insane. Apparently his wife suffers this condition and told me how statins had given his father in law dementia and basically killed him and should be avoided. Now as an actual health care provider, I know the nuanced issues between statins and a potential increased risk of dementia, but I also bloody well know I'm not statistically going to survive the next couple of years without treatment. The disinformation he spread would have been dangerous, even deadly, to a non-medical professional.
I should not know a providers political or social bent at the end of one visit. IF you want to hire right-wing crackpots, that's absolutely your prerogative. But when they spew their vaccine and medical conspiracies in a supposedly medical/therapeutic setting, that's dangerous to your patients, inappropriate, and practicing medicine without a license.
Your provider was giving medical advice in a clinic setting to a patient and her family that he is not licensed to give. That is absolutely unacceptable and illegal.
Please respond.
