LaMonica has assisted me with the births of three of my babies: the first as a doula, the second a successful home water birth, and the third a transfer to the hospital after a planned homebirth. Before I met LaMonica, I had previously had a child via emergency c-section due to being breech and going into distress after a failed ECV. LaMonica was wonderful and incredibly supportive. She cared for me throughout my pregnancies, respected my level of comfort surrounding risk, and understood my fears and anxieties after my first traumatic birth. She helped me and my husband to have the confidence that God created birth as a natural process and he would see us through it. My first home birth was perfect in every way. My second, the transfer to the hospital, I'm convinced would have been born in our driveway had we not planned a homebirth. His birth was precipitous (very fast) and LaMonica recognized right away that he wasn't doing well during contractions and recommended a transfer to the local hospital. She called ahead so that they were expecting me, and had my OB there within minutes. She also stayed with us throughout the birth to support me and my husband. Though it wasn't as we had planned, it was still wonderful. Since I'm no longer having babies, LaMonica has continued to be there whenever I have a question about my cycle, perimenopause, or about my daughter's questions or problems as well. LaMonica is one of the most beautiful midwives I have ever come across. Her devotion to her work is inspirational. She deeply cares for her mothers and their children. She does so much for her local community. My first interaction with LaMonica was at my second daughter's birth with LaMonica being an on call midwife. I had never met her before, but she was so wonderful to be around and brought such a peaceful presence during my birth. The birth center I had worked through in Spokane randomly decided to close during my postpartum care. The center decided to break their deal selling the office to two other beloved midwives of mine. I had no one scheduled to attend my visits, but LaMonica out of the goodness of her heart came to do my house visits not even getting paid! When I had asked her if the center was paying her, her response moved me deeply, "I don't do midwifery for the money, I do it for the moms." This spoke such volumes to me. My postpartum visits with LaMonica were such golden nuggets. She brought me so much joy and love. You see, LaMonica truly cares about her mothers not only their physical health, but mental and emotional health. Not many providers do this. She left my wife in prolonged labor for 5 days which required us to transfer to the hospital, in which she never suggested. She also lied on the amount we paid which didn't make us eligible for our reimbursement claim. ABSOLUTE WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. I TRUSTED THIS WOMAN AND TRIED MY BEST TO FEEL AT EASE SINCE THE DAY I BOOKED HER. HOWEVER, I soon found out that my initial gut instinct was right. I should have went with another midwife. Every visit was EXTREMELY AWKWARD and felt very judgmental. She would bring up religion and her point of views during my visits. Which SHE MADE ME DRIVE TO 1.5 away for a 5 minute check up. Nothing about the check ups felt normal or comforting. Every question I had she just shrugged and flipped her hands saying idk and giggle. When it came time to my labor TWO WEEKS PRIOR she decided to go on vacation. Not a problem but I specifically asked about the chances my baby would come sooner she told me it would not happen when in fact he came two weeks early. Again not an issue but she sent a WOMAN (one I've never met) and had even worse experience to deliver my baby. I explained to her how nervous I was during our prenatal visits before and she didn't show up!!! She WAS NOT ON VACATION. SHE WAS AT HOME AND JUST DIDNT WANT TO DRIVE IUT AND COME! The woman she sent had no compassion, no understanding, communication skills, no comforting techniques nor any voice to speak up and let me know what's going on. She literally had the worst responses that SCARED ME INTO BELIEVING I COULD NOT DO IT ANYMORE. She kept advising me to go to the hospital even though I explicitly told her I did not want to go. She had no idea what was going on from a medical stand point, and just encouraged me to go to the ER. I WAS DEVASTATED. I SPENT SO MUCH MONEY ON GETTING A MIDWIFE AND PREPARING FOR THE LABOR AND DELIVERY, she had me buy every little thing which would have been fine but she did not follow through or keep her promise. I got to the hospital 8 cm dilated and pushed my baby out within 30 minutes, NATURALLY. IF YOURE GOING TO GET A MIDWIFE. GET ONE WITH REAL EXPERIENCE AND A HEART. THIS WOMAN HAS NO IDEA WHATS SHES DOING AND IS THE WORST SOURCE OF RELIABILITY FOR A EXPECTING MOTHER. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY OR TIME HERE. IT WAS A TRAUMATIC EXPERIENCE THAT MADE ME REALIZE "midwives" are just another way some white women get over on taking our indigenous practices and putting a pretty price tag on it to benefit and show no true knowledge or experience. I heard about LaMonica through a good friend of mine who has had three home births. She told me how wonderful her experience was with LaMonica. I wanted that same empowering experience of giving birth naturally and within the comfort of my own home. Since then, LaMonica has been with me through two pregnancies, and afterwards to check up on me and my sweet babies. I'm so grateful to have had someone like her to advocate for us, pray with us, and guide us towards the healthiest and safest options for our babies. With my first pregnancy, I had no clue what to expect. LaMonica was there to help ease any anxious thoughts or worries I had throughout the pregnancy. She knows her stuff and was able to offer information, practical tips, as well as emotional support. I ended up being overdue and was diagnosed with having low amniotic fluid. LaMonica encouraged us to go to the hospital after consulting with another local midwife. Even though it was a change in plans, I completely trusted LaMonica's recommendation. It was hard to let go of my dream to give birth at home; however, I appreciated that LaMonica didn't have her own agenda. She allowed us to make the decision that would be best for our family. She accompanied us to the hospital, and helped coach me through parts of my labor. She helped to defend my wishes for a natural birth and limited interventions. LaMonica was on my side reminding me to listen to my body and relax. Although it wasn't at home, I was able to have an amazing and empowering birth with her by my side. With my second birth, I was overdue again and terribly worried that I would again need to be induced at the hospital and forfeit my plans. LaMonica was confident that my body could do it, and I am so thankful she believed in me! I was able to have a beautiful home birth experience with her help. I felt safe and strong. LaMonica was there when I needed her, and also stepped back and allowed me to do what felt natural. There was a beautiful balance of trust between us. She also helped take care of me afterwards-- sewing up a tear, making sure I had enough water and food, and even setting me up for a cozy nap one afternoon! LaMonica will always be so dear to my heart! She's a sharp, fun, professional and caring midwife. She truly loves what she has been called to do! read more

LaMonica is a wonderful midwife. We chose her to attend the birth of our fourth baby, after having our other three children at home with another midwife. LaMonica is incredibly knowledgeable. After having three babies I thought I knew a lot about prenatal care and birth, but LaMonica was continually giving me information and advice that was incredibly helpful and new to me. She was gentle, patient and understanding, particularly in regards to my fears about going through labor again. I always left our prenatal visits feeling more confident in my ability to birth my baby. I appreciated her neutrality in discussing all the options with us when we were almost to 42 weeks without going into active labor. She really sat back and let us make the decision about what to do. During the birth she was very respectful, always there when I needed her, but more than willing to step back and leave me to my instincts. I was so afraid of laboring again, but with LaMonica's help I had the easiest and most empowering birth of all my children. It was an incredible experience and I know I have her to thank.
