    Burria tacos

My little sister was missing home and wanted authentic Mexican. I live in Dallas and it's mostly TexMex (ick) so I was missing authentic Mexican too. We really enjoyed our dishes. Birria Tacos! Yes please! The services are huge so come with an appetite. The four of us couldn't finish it and made great leftovers Love the decor, definitely gives a family owned vibe. Only miss is the guac - needs some salt and seasoning. Everything else had so much flavor we were kinda surprised how it had no seasoning and lacked flavor. Staff was really nice! The young gal didn't speak English too well but my little sister is fluent so that was made ordering and asking questions much easier.

Its a drive out east of Houston but should be on your bucket list if you're into authentic Mexican food. The natural fruit drinks are amazing, will not disappoint. The alcoholic drinks are very nice. And the food is like it should be mexican and delicious like me. Good friendly service with a smile the Frida theme vibe is cute especially on the waitresses. Now when I say mexican authentic im not lying... stay away from the restrooms if you can (no a/c )

Food looks good. They serve goat. Spanish speakers mostly. They have a family vibes with nice soft romantic Spanish music. It's smells like steel with lime. Great smell here. You don't come for 5 stars. You come for the food. Service was a little slow cuz it's busy. DoorDash took 25 minutes. ........ The best is most expensive is the SEAFOOD BOAT $120

Who's over here giving bad reviews? This place was bomb. the consume was meaty and flavorful. The birria tacos were all amazing. I liked my friend's drink, although her boyfriend didn't, only because he doesn't care for grapefruit. The prices were decent. when you're done with your meal they give you a receipt with the address to the farm. It's about 8 minutes away from the place. I we got meat and it was everything I hoped for. The only thing was the elote. I dunno if there was too much juice or it was so hot it melted the crema, but it came out watery. Flavor was still there. I would come here again and again.

Very aesthetically pleasing, exterior and interior decor. Spanish/english speaking establishment. The food was made rather quick and full of flavor especially given the price. Will be going back to Try their larger meals.

This place is a gem! The juices tasted like they were freshly made, and the portions were wonderfully generous. The chicken mole was hands-down the best I've ever had at a restaurant, and the lamb tacos? Incredible! Honestly, I want to find the chef and kiss them for creating such a masterpiece. Parking was a breeze when I arrived, though I can see how it might get crowded during peak hours. I went on a Saturday early evening, and it did start to fill up as the night went on. Our server was fantastic. She was attentive, friendly, and efficient. The rice and tortillas were also outstanding. They were flavorful and perfectly prepared. I'm pretty sure the tortillas are freshly made. The only downside to this place is they don't have a lot of sweet options. We got the Caramel filled churros which were good but I'd like a tres leches cake or flan. The ambiance was another highlight--adorable and vibrant with flowers everywhere, making the experience even more delightful. I highly recommend this spot for anyone looking for amazing food, great service, and a charming atmosphere. I'll add I speak Spanish but my husband doesn't so I had to place our orders because our server didn't speak any English.

Location: Market, freeway and magnolia Parking: All 3 locations seemed to have plenty of parking Staff: we were helped by Kathy, she was sweet and very helpful. Wait time: none, starts getting busy @10am Seating: Both indoor and outdoor Price: Average Drink: went for cafe de olla, delicious, a bit too sweet for me but creamer helped. Also tried the agua de piña, it was huge and delicious. Food: went for the Charola Birria chivo and borrego. *keep in mind they add @$10 more for those meats. After all the social media hyped, I had to come check it out. Our day started really early to avoid crowds. We arrived at the Channelview location/Magnolia st. @7:30am. Their website stated they open at 7:30, but turns out they are currently under renovations. -Farm animals are at the magnolia location and they do still allow you to go see them and purchase cheese and other items. No restaurant service at the moment due to renovations. Drove to freeway feeder location as it was put closed location and turns out they open at 9am. Went to market location and yay! They opened at 8am. We opt to seat outside, it was empty at this time and we were the only ones until @9am. Kathy took our order, she was sweet and helpful. Location was quite spacious allowing you to enjoy time with your party. We order charola birria and it was quite a good size for 3 of us. Recommend calling in advance to confirm location is open.

First of all. This is my 2nd attempt at this location. Both times were a disappointment. The food bland and not at all the jazz it's hyped up to be. It's all cute and dressed up, but the main focus is the food and drinks. Service was also lacking energy. Just a I could care less to be here let alone serve you attitude. Think I'll go to the 3 or 4 taco trucks around there next time.

This place is amazing!! There were so many birria dishes to choose from. Many drink options alcoholic and non-alcoholic. We had aguas frescas which were delicious. My beef quesadilla-birrias were beefy-cheesy delicious as they should be. The consome was perfect, full of flavor. Kids had the birria ramen, it was also very good. Huge portions. Our waiter Jesus G. was super attentive and courteous. The restaurant is busy, but the staff is on it!! We were shown to our table immediately. We were given our menus as we sat down. Our waiter Jesus G. gave us the available drink options. Chips and salsa were brought out as the staff blended the fresh fruit agua frescas. Drinks came out shortly. Food order was taken and not even 15 minutes later we were enjoying our meal.

Food was delicious! Service was good as well, I think they were a little shocked at how large my family was and panicked a little. But they were still on top of everything. Ambiance is like a hole in the wall restaurant, so it gave the positive vibes it had to be good. I will definitely come back again and food was priced very fairly.

The food here used to be very good. I would come multiple times in the same week to eat here however after not coming in a couple of years I noticed the food prep and portions are very very different. Our food was disgusting! We ordered huitlacoche quesadillas: it mostly had regular mushrooms & just 3 pieces of huitlacoche, flor de calabaza quesadilla: they left the stems on ‍ flor de jamaica: they used dried Jamaica, you know the kind you need to boil and steep to make agua de Jamaica! The flowers were definitely not edible bc they were dry and chewy! The fajita empanadas were also not good, the empanada itself was deep fried and you could taste old oil & the fajita was mostly nerve & super chewy. The lemonade was bomb though, I give them that, but other than that I was disappointed bc their food quality went down very bad. Oh and lots of flies everywhere.

So I came back to give this place a second chance. Annddddd .........Food was not fresh at all. I could almost say it was cold. I ordered quesabirrias which the tortilla was hard and stale and the worst part is they gave me a very small portion of meat in one taco. I ordered fajita tacos as well ... and it was all chunks of fat and it was also old meat from maybe earlier and was just reheated (poorly) Service was very much lacking as well I will not be returning for a 3rd visit.

Is the farm animals only in the Channelview location? So the one on Market Street is only a restaurant? And I heard there's no A/C, can someone confirm please?

That is correct about the farm. Not 100 % about the a/c @ market I ate outside both times. But my opinion save your money. I've been to #1 location twice and #2 once, and was disappointed every time.

Allow me to be Review No. 1,100 following my visit to this wonderful culinary gem yesterday…read more By default, Spring Branch is Houston's Koreatown, but it's not unusual to find establishments with Spanish-language branding on them throughout the neighborhood. And Tacos Doña Lena, on which I'll heap tons of praise on, is among them. A group of friends and I had supper here before a live show down the street at Eighteen Ten Ojeman. Upon seeing the storefront when we pulled into the parking lot, my first thought was, "Okay, this is legit Mexican, not Tex-Mex." The interior is quite small with some tables and an ample late Saturday afternoon crowd. What caught my eye is how the environment is what you might expect to find at a family-run taqueria off the beaten path. Rock en Español blaring from the sound system. Colorful papel picado draped from the ceiling. A framed Mexican flag and several references to the central Mexican municipality of Guanajuato. The intoxicating smell of spice-laced grilled beef wafting through the air. Simply put, we're not in Kansas anymore, Toto. I glanced at the menu. There are numerous, delicious-sounding items that happen to be wallet-friendly, a bit cheaper than if you were to go to Gringos or Jimmy Changas. According to a mutual, the tacos here are the main draw, but what really caught my attention and appetite was the ramen birria. Mujeres y caballeros (ladies and gentlemen), let me proclaim that Tacos Doña Lena turns a noodle dish with origins in Japan and is a known staple in college dorm rooms into a must-try on this part of America's fourth-largest city. Two amazing food cultures unite for a fiery meeting of the minds. Anchored by a rich, tasty consomé that's spicy but not enough to where you need to drink multiple glasses of water, there's a prime mix of ramen noodle, beef birria, cheese, fried egg, rabanos, garbazo, and corn accompanied by cilantro, onions, and a pair of fried tostadas. I was so impressed with how the contents of the ramen blended together. Since it was ramen after all despite the south of the border touchup, I still ate it the traditional way: pick up the noodles and sip the soup. There was so much that I had no choice but to put it in a takeout container. Sure, Spring Branch may be home to some great traditional Korean restaurants, but don't sleep on Tacos Doña Lena.

There's a parking lot, but we went on the weekend, and while the interior didn't look overly full, it was somewhat difficult to find a parking spot. The restaurant itself is clean. Everything is pretty much green and white. There's covered patio seating. You can get beer, margaritas, and non-alcoholic drinks. There's also a breakfast menu The food was good, and it didn't take too long to come out. My main issue was the service. The individual taking orders seemed to have a bit of an attitude and just seemed "over it." Furthermore, we mentioned having a queso coupon and when we were given the total I placed my card on the reader and I was told that I did it too fast and the queso wasn't taken off. The odd thing was, we walked away and realized that they didn't add the queso and the coupon was for free queso so they could have just rung up an additional queso. This individual had the vibe of eye rolling everything, and it honestly left a bad taste in my mouth Some tips: You can order online to avoid any wait. Just go up to the pick-up window when it's supposed to be ready for a painless interaction There's a little bar area where you can get pre-packaged (to-go) salsas, pickled onions, limes, etc etc etc. the salsas are tomatillo, habanero, and jalapeño (I believe) You can order margaritas to go, which we did!
