Anyway, we only had a cappuccino and cornetto for breakfast, so by 1500, we were starving and couldn't wait for dinner. A family member heard our cries of woe and immediately dialed a number, said a few things in Italian, and just started driving. Where were we going? What were we going to see? Thoughts filled my head as I looked out the window to soak up more of this beautiful city. He had called his buddy, who happens to own Officine Dad with his son. When we arrived, the doors were closed and the "closed" signs still up. However, we were invited in with open arms and fed the most delicious burgers (yes, burgers in Rome) we've ever had. I will definitely return to Officine Dad the next time I'm in Rome, especially when I'm missing a nice, juicy burger!

While our dinner at Officine Dad was fairly good, it did not compare to our wonderful meal at Ristorante Sacco the night before. I don't like to mention competitors' names, but I must in this situation! My husband ordered the burger at Officine Dad, which he loved, and noted that it was very comparable to great-quality hamburgers he gets in the U.S. He previously ate a few steaks while in Italy that he did not enjoy, so the hamburger hit the spot. My risotto was cooked perfectly and was very flavorful. The only downside to my risotto at Officine Dad was that it included an inch-long black hair! (I had to dock a Yelp star.) The gorgonzola crepe appetizer was very unique and delicious, and the lemon tart for dessert was wonderful. Note to the Officine Dad staff: When speaking in Italian to your local customers, it's best to avoid saying "Americano" aloud when you're within earshot of the only American tourists dining in your restaurant. (Had to dock another Yelp star.)

We were offered a selection of the brunch buffet or to order off the menu, and while the brunch buffet looked delicious we chose to order off the menu and we are so happy we did. We had the ceviche and cannelloni with ricotta and porcini mushrooms which were both OUT.OF.THIS.WORLD!!! The vibe and interior is super funky, hipster, beatnik, speakeasy; think the Italian version of Alice In Wonderland vibe - totally dope. Wish we would have discovered this place sooner. Oh, one more thing: everything you see, as far as the decor, is on sale! That funky light fixture? Yup, for sale. That statute over there? Yup, buy it! The sink in the hallways?
