It isn't trying for the DSW boutique experience, and they focus more on big sales to draw in customers. I don't think I've ever shopped at a Famous Footwear without there being some kind of sale going on. I was here during a Buy 1, Get 1 at 50% off sale. This included all of their shoes, even clearance. They have a lot of name brands (Steve Madden, Keds, Sperry, and Carlos Santana to name a few), but nothing that I'd call overpriced. The sandals were picked over, and the store overall feels a little disorganized including narrow aisles in the clearance section. If you don't mind a warehouse kind of feel, there are some great deals at Famous Footwear. In addition to my Keds, I found a darling pair of Carlos Santana flats in a platinum shade with laser cut-outs on the clearance rack. They were marked down to $20. My Keds and Carlos shoes cost a combined $43, which was still $5 less than what I paid for the single pair of Keds at DSW. Customer service is great. I noticed one girl bending over backwards for a customer who wanted to special order a pair and have them shipped to her home. The girl who rang me up was also very friendly and she walked around the store greeting customers and asking them if they needed any assistance. It's not the level of service I'm used to at discount retailers, and for my tastes it was a little bit too much, but it was still nice to see.

Let me start by saying, "I adore SAS shoes". These are the only shoes that I have ever owned that I have to replace the inside before the outside looks bad. When I went inside 2 employees were very helpful in showing me my options, not just one choice of insoles but 3. Along with the insole I also purchased some new shoe laces so my 1 year old shoes look and feel good as new. I work 12 hour shifts and am on my feet all day, so shoes are extremely important to me. At $200 a pair, their shoes are not cheap, but they wear extremely well. This is money well spent!

You get a good deal or fair enough discount off shoes. I wear a special or width shoes and so it rather limited for me. For mostly people, they will be able to find something nice. If you can wait out the line before getting to the front door, it's worth the wait. Good to go earlier in the day or much later in the day if possible. Everyone seems to like this store. The line for paying for items seems longer than the number of people roaming around the store. I bought my first pair of AEs last Sunday and only time will tell if it was worth spending twice as much as compared to a pair of Rockports. But you are definitely paying for higher quality, along with the fact that they are made in the USA. So when you factor in US costs for manufacturing, the prices make sense. I am not a high roller and the AE employee did not make me feel out of place which is a plus. I recommend coming in with a list (refer to AE website) of the models you would like to try as they will not have every model in stock. All in all, it was good experience.
